I never thought I would write this- but I couldn't have had a better experience during a colonoscopy and endoscopy! Weird but true! I hadn't had an endoscopy before and was very anxious prior to my Monday appointment. I was advised that it was beneficial to have it done at the same time as my colonoscopy screening. At the surgery center, they flowed seamlessly. Organized and timely. Dr. Anita Spiess and her team were outstanding! The front desk lady, my pre RN Jeff, Intra op RN MJ, anesthesiologist, Jody, IV specialist Joanne and post op nurses Cedar and Colleen were all kind and professional. They answered every question with good bedside manners. I'm still waiting to hear from billing, but if I ever need these procedures again (hopefully not for a while!), I wouldn't hesitate to come back. I highly recommend this team! read more

This is the worst care I have ever received from any doctor in my life. Problem: Doctors that don't see patients in the office but prefer to do procedures only in the surgery center. Ding ding ding. Physician assistants, who see all the patients in the office and who FIRST order invasive procedures in their surgical center over non-invasive procedures from other providers Hmmm. This is all about making money and nothing to do with good patient care. Physician assistants don't even return phone calls. They are too busy racking up orders for procedures in their surgery center. They don't even have medical assistants that return phone calls. This is a multi physician practice, who also owns their very busy surgical center. Out of curiosity, I sat in the hallway and watched how every single person who saw a physicians assistant, stepped up to the window and scheduled an invasive procedure in the surgical center. They sure seem to have figured out how to survive the insurance game! It's called putting the patient last. There is no personal attention to a patient's care, diagnosis and treatment. I was actually told "our doctors don't like to see patients in the office. They prefer to do the procedures in the surgery center". Wow. Coming from a medical professional of 35 years, this is appalling. I would never have dreamed of treating my patients this way. Folks, take good care of yourselves because if this is any indication of where medicine is heading, we are in trouble. Tip: Find a doctor in a smaller practice that still appreciates the humanity in medicine. read more

I am writing this review to warn others about my traumatic and nearly fatal experience with Dr. Amin. I'm in my 30s and only had a colonoscopy due to family history. I trusted Dr. Amin to handle what should have been a routine and preventive procedure. What was supposed to be a routine colonoscopy turned into a nightmare that almost cost me my life. Shortly after the procedure, I experienced severe complications that were clearly the result of medical negligence. Dr. Amin failed to recognize or respond to clear signs that something was wrong. It was only through emergency intervention at a local hospital that I survived. What's even more alarming is the lack of accountability or follow-up from Dr. Amin or their team. There was no urgency, no acknowledgment of the mistake, and no compassion shown throughout the ordeal. I've since spoken with other medical professionals who confirmed that the complications I experienced were entirely preventable with proper care. I strongly urge anyone considering a procedure with Dr. Amin to seek a second opinion or choose another provider. No one should have to go through what I did under the care of someone who appears to lack both competence and responsibility. read more

Thank you for the good experience at the SEVG center. I was treated with respect and felt very cared for. From the woman who checked me in to the aide who helped me to my car, I couldn't have been taken care of better. Dr. Ma, my doctor was pleasant and explained everything clearly. The Anesthesiologist, Jody, was very sweet and listened to a concern I had about being sedated. She made me calm and secure in what she was going to do. All the nurses were kind, explained procedures and were pleasant to talk to. All in all, my experience was great. I would recommend Dr. Ma and his group to anyone who needed a colonoscopy. read more

Not enough room to explain all this place does poorly but trust me they should be shut down for malpractice. Everything they do is late and most of the information passed on is incorrect. I had a scheduled EDG at the 875 S. Dobson Chandler location and when I showed up, they did not have me on there schedule. They couldn't fit me in and said I needed prior authorization which takes 5 days or so. Then they told me to call the consultants that scheduled this procedure (located at 3591 Mercy RD Suite 303 Gilbert, AZ) and let them know what happened. I called them immediately and they said to reschedule. I took PTO from and I was fasting. It seems as if no one is responsible for their mistake. I aksed to speak to a supervisor and they said they would call me back, Ha! I doubt they can even execute that! I strongly suggest you seek your colonoscopy or endoscopy medical needs elsewhere! read more

My pre-endoscopy appointment (made by Dr. Patel's office) with one of about 20 Physicians Assistants ("PA's") at Southeast Valley Gastroenterology (SEVG), was scheduled for 9:15am and I was told to arrive 15 minutes early. I filled out all the paperwork online and arrived at 9am and waited and waited and waited, only to be told my PA came in late and was running behind, and no one else could see me for this perfunctory check-in. I waited there until 10:45 and was told that it would be at least another 20 minutes before I could be seen! All my attempts to speak with a manager, both in person and on the phone, were rebuffed. I left messages for Dr. Patel, specifically requesting that he call me back, but he did not. In short, I was treated like CRAP and I will never return to this assembly line clown show. Why would I trust such unprofessional people to perform an endoscopy or any other procedure on me? read more

Southeast Valley has the best and nicest staff--I had an exceptional experience! Check-in was a breeze, and everyone was incredibly reassuring, making the process seamless. I was well cared for the entire time, and the nurses ensured I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I was greeted with the warmest blanket and was checked on multiple times to see if I needed any more blankets or additional comfort. I had the honor of having Dr. Patel perform my procedure, and from the start, he was the best!!! He was highly professional, aligned well with my needs, and demonstrated great knowledge of my case. Poor communication to patients. Not being told you are no longer a "routine screening" until you are hit with a text message asking for $1500? Dr never told me, NP never told me at the pre op. And if I didn't make my own appointment by my own memory, they would never follow up. My appointments are always a year behind because of it. read more

I went to see Dr Patel, who after a colonoscopy told me my IBS symptoms were from marijuana use. Come to find out I have severe endometriosis and have since had three surgeries, all which have improved or completely resolved the gastrointestinal symptoms I was having, including but not limited to stabbing pains when using the bathroom, IBS symptoms, bloating and increased symptoms with menstrual cycles. I wish these doctors knew what to look for, rather than wasting my time and making false assumptions. read more

I would not recommend contacting this place. I can't tell you anything about the doctors at this practice because I haven't met nor spoken to one yet regarding my issues! They set you up with a doctor assistant who orders tests ( she doesn't listen to your problems) but then when the results arrive, no one calls you to tell you the results. I requested to speak to a doctor about my pain and no one has yet to contact me. I called back and the admin person told me to take Tylenol for the pain and continue with tests. That makes no sense to me! And why would I want to continue tests with a doctor I've never met and who will not return my call? So are these tests even necessary or just check boxes for my insurance? She told me that Matthew Baldus would be a good fit for me. When I met Matthew, he was very professional, caring and was well prepared for my visit. After reviewing my previous exams, Matthew knew exactly what he wanted to do. Matthew review my case with his colleagues and determined that he needed to check my small intestine. Let's be real, a colonoscopy is the most awkward and least fun procedure, BUT....I was blown away with the professionalism and friendliness of the entire staff from check-in to check-out. The nurses getting me settled acknowledged my nervousness and then thanked me for being there and taking care of my health. The CRNA talked to me the entire time, gave me a little bump of the good stuff to calm my nerves. She was awesome. Dr. Patel was personable, understanding, and straight forward. Going to the doctor can be annoying, especially when having a procedure of any sort. So, for most people, the maximum level of "enjoyment" is going to be fairly limited. With that being said, I interacted with several people, from the COVID check, to check-in, to consultation, to scheduling, to prep, to "recovery" and everyone was very pleasant. And, I'm sort of a joker, which is a common response to stress. But even when joking around, the folks here were genuinely happy. They're weren't angry or in a bad mood, or tired, or sour. And, I know we all have bad days, but when people are most vulnerable (e.g. patients), someone else's bad day can magnify into a horrible experience. Now, maybe I was lucky and your experience will be vastly different. I only had the one procedure. And hopefully, it'll my last. I have no comments on billing ... yet. read more

SEVG has been AMAZING! I was struggling to find a doctor and team who seemed to genuinely care until I came here. They have made things so easy compared to my last doctor who I spent months going back and forth with to try to get back on remicade. I was able to establish care and get the help I needed all in about a month including taking care of all the insurance aspects! The infusion nurse is so friendly and makes you feel at ease and the experience was so pleasant (despite the circumstances lol). They take quick action and clearly communicate what they need from you to get things started. I am so grateful for this entire office! read more

The doctors are not the issue here. I went in for a routine procedure on Dec 6, 2023 and was told that my copay was $1000. It had been a while since It seemed high and I told the clerk to check with my insurance company. She said she did and I reluctantly paid it. I called my insurance company after the procedure and was told it should have been around $150. Here it is now April 2024 ( 5 months of calls to their office) and still no refund of the gross overcharge. For the past two weeks I have been told they have mailed the check "Yesterday" and still no refund. Their office practices are grossly unprofessional and incompetent. I am looking for an alternate doctor. Don't believe anything their office people tell you. You need to know in advance what the probable costs and benefits are. read more

Charged us $1150 for a colonoscopy deposit when I told them there is No charge for colonoscopies on our insurance now they it's been ran thru insurance and we owe 0 on everything like I already knew they are giving me the run around constantly telling me they will expedite refund now today the same lady tells me 3 weeks when she told me 2 weeks maximum yesterday. They should NOT be charging us up front and they should be billing insurance first before we pay anything like most places do. It's like they don't want to wait for insurance to pay and make you lend it to them up front then take weeks and weeks to get refund!!!
