The fact that a church leadership remains committed to a doctrinal standard is not a negative thing. The fact is, in our current "anything goes" approach to theology, it is nice to find a church that retains a faithful commitment to truth. As a professor of church history, I know the dangers of letting everyone think or believe whatever they want. Still, Randolph Street Baptist holds to a strong commitment to "sola scriptura" Scripture only, and should anyone show through Scripture and not personal opinion that they are teaching truths contrary to Scripture they would gladly change their theology to match the teaching of God's Word. I am thrilled that such a church is present in Charleston.

Some people move to Charleston WV to be a part of this local church and its God-entranced gospel movement. The central motive of this congregation is 'What will bring God the most glory?" This is one of the only gospel-centered, Reformed baptist churches in West Virginia. It is a group of sinners saved by the grace of Jesus Christ committed to expositional preaching, biblical church leadership (plurality of elders), church multiplication, vibrant biblical worship, covenant membership, relational discipleship, biblical church discipline and Christ-centered community. They have a local, regional and global vision for gospel advancement. The story of this church is quite remarkable. You hardly hear of God turning a church around from the brink of closing its doors, especially in WV. Well, that happened here. In early 2007, the church leaders readied themselves to close down the church. As God would have it, he brought a young man in who desired to revitalize this once vibrant congregation. By God's grace the church grew and matured quickly from 25 regular attenders to around 400 among two congregations by 2015. The Lord raised up the Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies to primarily to give Appalachian pastors and church leaders access to quality theological training. Now, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has partnered with ABTS so now men can work toward an M.Div or an MA. without leaving the context of their ministry.

I dont know a…read morelot about history of the church but I do know they have awesome Social Service department to help the community. They sponsor a great thrift shop with clothing and furniture and if you show your need, you can get free assistance. They also help at holidays with food baskets.
