we have had so many issues with southwest disposal picking up our trash. "antette" is who we spoke to, she told me that if i had a problem to speak to her supervisor and hung up on me. i was then promised a call from the supervisor over 2 weeks ago, still haven't received anything. Southwest Disposal has raised their rates each of the last five years; however, I cannot see one example where my service has gotten better, just more expensive. Southwest essentially enjoys a monopoly and chooses not to emphasize good customer service. I have heard all of the Southwest Disposal's reasons why they need to increase their rates, yet they don't even take the time to tell their customer that their rates are going up. For those of us that are on "automatic billing" your Bank lets you know that Southwest Disposal has hit your account for a higher cost!! My rate for January, 2026, increased by $3.06 per month; an increase of 7.623% a month; way more than the percentage increase Social Security gave out; and way more than the inflation rate! Remember: "What goes around comes around." When another disposal company arrives in Las Cruces, Southwest Disposal will rue the day they did not do a better job running their company and treating their customers as the life blood of their enterprise!! This monopoly keeps buying up the start-ups (that want to do a better job) and then just goes back to offering "Great Value" service. It's pretty much like the electric company; no other choices so customers just have to eat it. Perhaps the state attorney needs to have a look. read more

The laziest most unprofessional group of people ever. Everyone on the phone is incompetent and has different answers to billing questions. My trash has been missed multiple times in one month when all dues are paid! Do yourself a favor and never use this trash disposal because you'll be swimming in trash after ONE missed payment.... Can't wait to never use Southwest Disposal again. There's always an excuse why the trash wasn't picked up. They've missed my entire street multiple times and blamed it on a "route change" and explained we should have bins out at 6am...but NO ONE on the street was collected so they just make up stupid excuses to protect their own butts and end up looking stupid. read more

Extremely rude customer service. They think they are the only waste management in Las Cruces-Dona Ana. I would give them 0 if the system allowed an even lower rating. nine out of ten times they did not answer calls and when they did pick up the phone, they kept interrupting me and hung up on me before I got to explain - that was the "supervisor" and according to her, no one was above her. You don't get to speak because she's the "big boss" there. They just took the trash and recycle bins the next day from our property without telling us! They could at least ring the door bell as we were home. If I wasn't too busy, I would have called the police and reported theft! read more

Terrible customer service. I cannot access my bill online so I asked for a paper bill. one month I got the bill a day before it was due (they blamed the post office) then this month I didn't get a bill at all (who they gonna blame this time?). No one there is very helpful, and they don't seem to care whether or not I receive a bill, but they expect payment. At least now they answer the phone. When I first moved here they didn't respond to calls to start service for over a month. 1 star is too kind for these people. They are incompetent and uncompassionate at customer service but excellent at professional bullying. Because of a minor mishap with my bank's bill pay system, they suspended our account and refused to pick up our trash yet still demanded that we pay for it. When I discovered the mishap, I called them and informed them of what happened and assured them that the check through my bank's bill pay was on the way. But this wasn't good enough for them. I received a call by one of their customer service representatives the day of trach pick-up and was told that the account was suspended. When I tried to work out something with her, she refused my every attempt and just replied, "It doesn't work that way." When I threatened to close our account, she was happy to do so and very quickly and efficiently did so. These people are very competent at being bullies but lack basic intelligence and skills to implement simple workarounds when a mishap occurs. (Unfortunately, they get away this behavior because they are the only company that services our area. This is why monopolies should not be allowed! Monopolies eliminate competition and invite cruel customer oppression.) read more

They started out great, and gradually over time the service became hit-or-miss. We had two locations with them for trash pickup, a block apart. I can literally see the second location from my living room window. For some reason the driver seemed to think that the second location was "optional" and when I would send the "missed pickup" notice on the webpage, I would get the "trash can was not out" reply. This has happened when BOTH cans were put out the night before. Lazy drivers?? Who knows. Don't even get me started on their billing software. Customer service is non existent, and when you do get someone on the phone, they are BEYOND rude. We cancelled our service two days before the next billing cycle and the woman on the phone told us they would "pro-rate" our billing for that cycle. When she was reminded that our billing cycle ended in two days, she became LIVID and said they would send it to collections. We've talked to several people in our vicinity who have cancelled or switched because of their inconsistent service, or bad attitudes in general. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Buy a punch card and drive your own trash to the transfer station. read more

If only I could give them o. They never answer the phone.Now they have no text messaging,either.You email or leave a phone message and they never get back to you. Lately the trash cans sit out until 5 or 6pm. We have alot of wind,here and the cans fall over and trash blows all over. Recently they came real early and my cans weren't out. I chased the driver down the street and he refused to drive back 1/2 block. I called them and this time they got the message that I wanted to stop their service. Southwest Disposal's recent acquisition of Mesilla Valley Disposal has been a disaster. Customer service is non existent. No one ever answers the phone. it took them months to get their billing and on line payment systems straightened out and then threatened to discontinue my service. Now my trash can is sitting at the end of the driveway since Thursday night for Friday pick up and it's still there. I can't get anyone to pick up the phone or respond to an email. There is another waste removal company in the area and I'm going to call them tomorrow. read more

We can NOT get them to pick up our recycling without calling. They don't answer the phones or text messages. Don't use this company! We are changing. read more

Southwest Disposal has a very serious problem of overusing technology to answer requests. I have tried to get past the "virtual assistant" for weeks now - filling out the form over and over. They just need a way to connect to an actual person. I need to rent a container for a move-in project and can't keep waiting. read more

Initially the service was great and they came promptly on the appropriate day to collect *both* the trash and the recycling containers. That stellar service did not last long. Over time, the recycling guy stopped coming. My husband caught him on a few occasions actively avoiding picking up our recycling. He told us that we lived on a hill so that it was hard to pick up. Funny, the garbage man (in a much larger truck, from the same company) has no problems with "the hill." We have called on several occasions, giving them chances to address the issue. Every time there was a series of silly questions, like whether or not we put our can out. On other occasions, they said the recycling guy was running 5 hours late. Who can run 5 hours late and still be employed?! We have since cancelled our service. They were surprised to hear this over the phone, and of course wanted to charge through the month. Old family item was accidentally discarded in Dumpster by my friend. When I spoke to Secretary this Am started out fairly good but then once she found i was not on the Billing Ticket she all but SHIT!! her pants and wanted to Hang up on me. She said that the person on the Bill would have to call. I told i would do that so we could get there to retrieve the item. That was at 08:00 and @ 11:30 they showed up and hauled to the dump....F*** Bullshit to say the least... Explained to her we need to send somebody over to look at the least and worse case scenario send somebody to the dump to look for after they dumped it. F*** This Place .. Spend your money with someone who has some common sense. Absolutely PISSED would be an understatement !!! read more

I am trying to talk to someone in customer service to cancel my service & have tried a few times already. They leave you on hold, tell you that you are #4 and then when your turn comes up as #1 they still leave you holding!!! I will have to go up there to cancel my service with them! Not only that they have just increased their monthly service fee! Now it's over $30 a month!! Too much for a 1 day weekly pickup! Terrible customer service!! read more

We have been with this company for over 20 years. We have never missed a payment. The rate started out reasonable for at two times a week on Tues. & Thurs. Suddenly they changed to once a week without notice. We went along with it. We have had to call them several times to come back because they leave the trash half full. The price since we started has quadrupled and the service has gotten worse. They show up later and later in the morning. We often have an overfilled can with the lid a little open, which is understandable for once a week pick up, if you get my meaning. All of a sudden they leave our trash behind without warning, so we call. They inform us that the lid has to be flat or they cannot empty the trash. "That is our policy" the girl repeats if we try to explain that our trash has often had an open lid and it never made a difference. We are not waiting to find out what other "policies" come up and are switching companies before we get billed again. They can keep their ridiculous-lazy policies! We know that they are getting greedy and want us to rent a second can from them for a hefty price at this point. read more

I was told that at any time I had extra trash, to call in, at least one day prior, to put in a work order, and they would pick up, up to 5 extra bags of trash next to my trash can. I called for extra bags to be picked up tomorrow and they said, no, I can't do that anymore because I do it every week. I disagree. I forget many times to call, and I was in the hospital 15 days recently, so there's no way I did it every week. I think it was twice a month, at most. And not every month. They offered a 2nd can, at a price.....then put me on the phone with a supervisor who said I can't have extra pick up because my account has been suspended too many times. So if my account was suspended so many times. When was i getting these weekly extra bag pick ups? Who's lying? My trash can gas never been picked up for non payment. I have been late, up to two payments but I always pay. I paid two weeks ago, then again last week and owe nothing on my account currently. After my payment 2 weeks ago, I got a letter two days later saying my account was suspended until I pay $44.44. I only owed $22.22. I called the following Monday, made payment, and asked if it was suspended she said no. The letter must have got sent out before my payment.... So ????????? They picked up my trash the next day. So now I'm being told I've been suspended several times, which is it? I'm looking for another trash company, and taking a load of trash to the dump myself. They are liars. read more
