These are really special candles. The shop is cute and packed with great smelling products. The two-wick jar candles burn so clean and really make the whole room smell amazing. My son said my candle smelled really "zen." That's a high compliment from a teen boy. If you are anywhere in Mason City's vicinity, this shop is worth a stop. I'm looking forward to trying some of the soap and hand sanitizer too. For now, I'll bask in the zen of my candle. read more

I like candles in the house, but I wanted something that burned clean. Soy candles don't produce as much soot as paraffin wax candles. I've been buying from Soyphisticated candles for years and they have a great "throw," which means it fills the room with a great scent. I use these when I cook and it does a great job getting rid of the cooking smells of fish, garlic and onions. It's definitely a staple in my house, it's better than room freshener sprays. read more

I'm not a big candle user, or expert. I wouldn't have stumbled across this great Iowa business if it wasn't for my wife. I was asked to travel to Mason City to pick up a large order for her. This is a great artisan candle store that produces fine candles in a lot of thought provoking scents. Even as a guy I was intrigued by some of the scent combination here. Orange Chocolate Chii? Amazing. They've even got some scents that appeal to me as a guy like the Green Tweed. My wife says that these are the top quality soy-based candles that burn very cleanly and produce powerful scents. There's also a great selection of soaps and essential oils available for purchase. I put the candles in my trunk for the drive back to home and over the next hour the cabin of my car filled with amazing scents. Mason City and Iowa should be proud of this business. read more

I was not a candle person before I found Soyphisticated Candles. Now they are a staple in our home as are many of their beauty products. I'm not sure why so many of the 5 star reviews are not being shown by Yelp, but this business deserves them all! Camille is passionate about her business and is well educated about her products and her suppliers. She is not afraid to change suppliers if they are providing an inferior product, and it shows in the excellent quality of the candles and beauty supplies. With so many unhealthy ingredients being added to beauty products these days, it is reassuring to have a business that chooses the best ingredients without all the additives. read more

If you do order from Camille, keep it to a price that you are willing to shrug your shoulders at when Camille says "maybe it was just stolen off your porch." $120 is way over that for me which is why I am so wordy and passionate about leaving this yelp review. Camille used a lesser shipping company that didn't allow me to track the order. When the package didn't arrive, she assumed it was stolen off our porch and we were out of luck. When she did check on the shipping, it had been delivered to the wrong place and sat on a shelf there. Camille's solution; go pick it up where it was delivered. Never mind that it was intended to be a Christmas present, it was now a month late, the receiving store had opened the package and perhaps removed items (one item for $60 was a discount box of random things so I can't know if things were removed), and it never made it under the tree. In each step of getting to the bottom of where the package was lost, Camille was obtuse and attempted to place the onus on me to fix the problem she created. Thankfully, PayPal refunded me. Otherwise, Camille was quite comfortable that the loss of $120 was my problem. Adding: If UPS($20), FedEx ($13) or UPSP($6) were used, I could have tracked the order and known something was wrong. Because Camille choose SpeeDee, I could not track the package. Camille could have and should have checked on her shipments as she had the shipping information once we were curious about the delay. If you are going to try to save money on shipping by using a company that doesn't track, I think you owe your customers to confirm that a package was delivered. If Camille would have done this in December, this would not have been an issue. Camille is also fibbing about the shipping as she showed us the receipt: she did make money on shipping because she charged us 9.95 and then paid $6.35 for shipping (according to the shipping receipt that she had sent us to show that the package had been shipped). I guess in Camille's business mind, it is better to make an extra 3.60 using a company that doesn't track than it is to spend an extra $3 to use FedEx. This issue arose from Camille's choice of shipping company and her lack of looking at the tracking until it was brought up later (as we were simply being patient). Never an "I'm sorry about this," just every effort to have someone else clean up her mistake while keeping her $120 order. And while she did refund the money, it was only after a length email exchange where she never offered a refund. My wife's and my request was that the package be shipped back to her, that she confirm everything that was in the original box, then ship it back to us. We honestly did not want to go through PayPal as we wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and didn't want her to receive poor marks from PayPal. When Camille declined to have the package sent back to her to check it, we decided to go through with a chargeback with Paypal. Only then did did she offer the refund. I am 100% sure that PayPal would have charged it back as we never did get the package. Now, I wish I could have disputed the charge because then PayPal would make note of her failure to deliver. read more

I needed to have clean burning non-scented soy candles and found Soyphisticated Candles. Camille worked with me to make sure I got the right order for what I needed in my home. That was three years ago. Since then I have bought a variety of products other than candles such as the lotions, creams, and lip balm. My absolute favorite are the lip balms! I have stopped using all other lip products including lipsticks. I use the lip shimmer balms exclusively. Camille is always ready to answer any questions I have no matter how simple they may be. And she will ship even with just several lip balms. No order is ever too small which is sometimes hard to find a business to take the time to do small individual orders.
