Sozeal actually was a pleasant surprise. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Szechuan/Chong Qing style Chinese food, I've been disappointed many times. But that was not the case here (for the most part). The Chong Qing popcorn chicken was a little under seasoned and over breaded. Out of all the dishes ordered, I'd ranked that last. The Hand-Torn Cabbage was a bit oily but tasted pretty good. On to the good. The Mapo Tofu was very good here. Not the best I've had but close to it. Flavors were balanced, not too spicy and not too salty. I highly recommend trying it. The "Mouthwatering Chicken" also known as cold chicken in chili oil was the best thing out of the four dishes. Again, well balanced taste, slightly numbing a full of deliciousness. The restaurant itself is pretty small. Quiet and not busy when we went. I'm pretty impressed. I did a yelp search for surrounding Chinese food and found this place. They have an American Chinese menu and an authentic Chinese menu. I was happy to see they have my favorite chongqing popcorn chicken and pan fried noodles. The food was surprisingly delicious and affordable. Portions are generous. Love the fact that's it's super close to our house so I don't have to drive to Mesa to get this anymore. Great customer service, shoutout to the gentlemen upfront. We came here with the family for my mom's birthday and the food is really good and authentic. Everything tasted great and the service is very good. It's been a few days and I don't remember the English names of the dishes. They have some good spicy dishes if you like that. They're Hunan chicken Kung pow, chicken, sweet-and-sour, generals. All East Coast style. The only issue I have is they fried their beef sticks in the same oil as the shrimp, I'm allergic to shrimp that was a fail. But otherwise they bring my delivery within 20 minutes. Online, it required a rice selection, and so I picked rice even though when I called, the woman who answered says it comes with fried rice so don't worry. The order came with white rice instead, and the spicy garlic chicken was actually a more sweet and sour chicken instead. I think this restaurant has been recently sold because the combo dinner we typically ordered no longer comes with fried rice or shrimp. Of course they failed to tell us that when we ordered over the phone and pulled their menu online. Had the cashew chicken and asked for onions. They added the huge ones. I've gotten delivery here two times and so far it's my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. The food is tasty and well portioned. I've gotten the pork fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and spicy garlic chicken. All are tasty. I like that they deliver it with the sauce on top - another place in the area have me straight up fried pork with sweet and sour sauce on the side and on top of that no pineapples or veggies. Just chicken! So I'm happy Mandarin Chef gives you complete and tasty meals. Had the egg drop soup too which was tasty. Today we got lunch specials and it was $32 including a $6 tip for 3 lunch specials - not a bad price for delivery for 3 people. We will order here again for sure! read more

I really liked Mandarin Chef, but the name changed and the ownership changed. I ordered online like I normally do, but when I arrived, which was 40 mins later, my order was not ready. No biggie, I was told another 5 mins, which ended up being another 20 mins. Again, no biggie...staff was nice and I can see that they were scrambling as more and more customers came in for their online order. Once I got home, I immediately noticed what I usually ordered looked different. Portion size was less, but what was the tipping point was the food was way too salty. The dining area are pretty empty and most of the people that are sitting are waiting for their food. Inside ambience is blah. On the menu, everything looks amazing on the pictures, but I must try it to see if I would like it or not. I literally just tried the chicken egg roll and it's $1.50 each so, an order will come in 2 pieces so, that'll come out to $3.00 total. The egg rolls size are small. How small? Let's compare it to P. Express chicken egg roll....so, it'll be half the size of that for $1.50 each. It tasted good, but not great either. I guess that'll put it on....it's okay to eat it when you're hungry. With the comparison, I would just go back to P. Express and buy their chicken egg rolls then. The bathroom here are only for their paying customers and nothing is free. read more
