Seriously, just got the BEST massage of my life from Jennifer. I fly twice a week and spend the time in between hunched over staring at my computer, so my back, neck and shoulders are always all kinds of tensed up. She managed to not only do some deep tissue work to loosen everything up, but also balanced some major relaxation in there too. I think I even dozed off a time or two. I drove two and a half hours to give myself a spa day, and it was totally worth it!!!! 1000000 out of 10, definitely recommend. The spa to visit for the ultimate relaxation and an enhanced experience! When my husband and I first arrived at the spa, we were greeted by the amazing staff of the spa Amy and Ryn. They were kind and welcoming, while checking in for our service the staff noticed an issue with the initial booking. Amy assured us that she would take care of it and resolve the issue right away. She asked Ryn to assist and ensure we had no delays with our service. Both Amy and Ryn informed us about the property, services, and items available for purchase. It is easy to book a service but it is not easy to receive an experience. Spa Esmeralda provides an enhanced spa experience with the superior customer service of their staff! We were able to unwind and enjoy an intimate self-care day at the spa. Eva was very sweet while assisting us with our service. She had water, champagne, chocolates, and cold compressors available during our hydrotherapy service. She provided aromatherapy oils and extra mineral salts to enhance our experience. We enjoyed the luxurious treatment room we were assigned. We were able to enjoy the spa garden and facilities all day. The spa provides pool passes and validates parking if you have a service book and are not staying at the property overnight. They also have 8 treatment cabanas. This was a nice touch for those who love nature and would like an outdoor treat. They provided towels and yummy cucumber water to stay hydrated and refreshed throughout the day. The spa is beautiful; it's not dated in any way. There is nice comfortable seating in the relaxation lounges with stock refreshments. My favorite complementary enhancement was the eucalyptus shower mist, I felt like I was having another spa service all over again. If you have, the opportunity to visit the spa this is an item I recommend purchasing. I did get my hair wet during my service and there is a little bit of everything a lady can need in the women's area. They have feminine products, blow dryers for your hair, deodorant, lotion, and much more. They also provided a complementary orange vanilla hand scrub. I love the smell I couldn't stop smelling my hands and rubbing my husband's face so he could smell it too. He kept complimenting how good my hands smell. I'm not sure if they change the scent throughout the year. Spa Esmerelda provides the ultimate experience and many enhancements to make their guest spa day unforgettable. I want to give kudos again to the staff who assisted me and my honey, Amy, Ryn, and Eva. Their customer service is the reason why I am writing this review. Haven't been here in over 7 years. Forgot how amazing it was! Got a signature massage with Darlene and added a scalp treatment. She was fantastic. Applied just the right amount of pressure. Enjoyed the steam room afterwards. Love the amenities and how clean it is. Would have liked to utilize the jacuzzi, but it was crowded. Maybe next time. This was such a treat after a stressful conference and several consecutive days of drinking too much/eating terribly/not sleeping well. Patrick was my masseuse, and he was quite friendly and hilarious while still being able to take cues once I wanted to stop talking. My massage was lovely - he found all my knots and killed them. Killed them to the point where my back was slightly sore later on, but of course, that just means it worked. My only complaint is the same complaint I have every time I ever get a massage, and it's that I hate the periods of pointless rubbing up and down. I want hardcore kneading the entire time. It's meant to be a massage, not a rubdown. But at this point, I can only assume that's​ what you're always going to get wherever you go. Maybe it's not even possible for human hands to knead nonstop for an hour without getting tired. That could very well be the explanation. Overall though, I was satisfied and left super relaxed. They have a hot tub and aromatherapy shower here too, btw, which you will be able to take advantage of if you'd like before or after your massage. With several hours to kill before taking a flight back home, I decided to splurge on myself and get a spa treatment. I know, when do I not splurge on myself? Whateves. I loved the dark walkway to the lounge as it makes you feel like you really are leaving the world behind. The amenities are great, with a nice whirlpool spa, steam room and vitamin C infused showers. I went for a swedish massage. I've been really having issues with my shoulder and my masseuse was great at spending extra time on it to try to get the knots out. The facility is really nice and the only reason for taking a star away is the upselling that takes place. I know they need to make a profit, but I'd rather not be asked about add ons or if I want to purchase items once I'm lying on the table. Though I will say, they weren't offensive or anything like that. They were very friendly and professional. It's just a small pet peeve of mine. Do yourself a favor and ask for Elena for either a custom massage or a body scrub. I did both and was delighted by one of the best massage experiences I've ever had. I had some tightness in my shoulder and lower back, and have never been one to like soft massages. Elena was consistent with the deep pressure I asked for and really paid attention to my problem areas. She even did a heavenly foot, hand and scalp massage to boot. She's delightful and very professional. You can tell she cares for her clients and her decades of experience really speaks for itself. She even gave me champagne and chocolates at the end of my session when she heard it was my birthday! How lovely! The amenities are great as well with a nice eucalyptus steam room, outdoor jacuzzi and nice jetted showers. Only thing missing is a sauna, but the lounge area is quite relaxing. I have to say this has been by far the best experience I have ever had , from start to finish and I go to alot spas. Lol Came with 2 friends and did the special they had, Gaby took us back was very thural and sweet. Then we meet Irma whos a spa attendant, she was such a sweet lady she pampered me she made me comfy in the lounge chair and tucked me in just like a mom would lol such a tender touch.. And made me a nice hot tea as I waited to be picked up. Then I had Patrick for my massage he was amazing!!! Great pressure very informative. I feel great! The initial experience was lovely. The place, the people and ambiance. It all went down hill when Patrick, the masseuse took me back. In a very aggressive manner he told me several times that I am getting a travelzoo massage because that is what I paid for. I thought it was strange he kept saying it. I then told him he could go as deep as he wants because I'm not sensitive and he said "oh no I won't be going deep at all because that's not what you purchased and if I wanted a steak I shouldn't have paid for a hamburger". I told him I thought his approach was very aggressive and he wasn't even phased. It ruined my whole experience and put a terrible taste in my mouth. I think a $120 total was a pretty expensive hamburger. He was awful and I wanted to walk out. I told the staff and manager afterwards and they were absolutely wonderful and apologetic and even gave me a free gift. This experience will make me never buy a travel zoo voucher for anything again because at the end of the day it was $25 off and I was treated like a second hand citizen. read more

The staff at the front desk are terrible to a point of nastiness. They ruin your experience from the moment you go in and the momento you go out. They want to sell you product but had zero to no knowledge. You feel like they are doing you a favor to give you any customer service. The facility is not even as nice as the nail salon I attend at home, and has an air of being cluttered, shabby, and uninspired. I expect more at a resort "spa" ...this is so not a "spa" experience. For double the price of my pedicures at home, I got an adequate pedi, but no specialness or attention one expects (and is willing to pay for) at a vacation spa. So very glad I was trying that pedi before booking for a facial. I'll go elsewhere. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Renaissance for a few nights and over the July 4th holiday. I was having some neck pain and my arm was bothering me--probably a pinched nerve, so I called to make a spontaneous appointment for a massage in the morning in hopes it would help. The spa had an opening within 15 minutes and I took it. Had a really great massage and felt wonderful after. Pain gone, very relaxed! Not impressed. Was charged over 300 when I did not receive all of the services I was promised. Then to top the day off, the staff had to use two registers to check us out because we used spa finder gift cards. Well guess what!, staff misplaced one of my mothers gift cards! My sweet husband surprised me with a reflexology massage during our stay over mother's day...I had never had a reflexology massage and asked the masseuse the details and whether or not it was "intense" or more relaxing. I wanted a relaxing and was thinking about switching to a Swedish instead but he assured me it was relaxing and I would love it...the foot portion was awesome but when he got to my neck it was excruciatingly painful. I chalked it up to me having tight muscles and that he was applying pressure on the pressure point to "work it out". I kept telling myself it would only hurt for a few minutes. After the massage I had lunch at the pool and than headed home. Did nothing else that day strenuous...went to bed early. The next day I could not get out of bed or turn my head...and the pain persisted for the whole week getting a little better each day. I called the resort to report the injury that must have been the result of the message and was informed that the waiver I signed lifted any sort of liability from the spa and there was nothing they could do...I don't know about you but if I pay $180 for a massage I do not expect a weeks worth of pain...be very wary of what you sign and NEVER get a reflexology massage from this place. read more
