There were a lot of moving components to our event, and all of the individuals we hired told us the same thing - The Space team was so easy to coordinate with, and no one had a single complaint. We had my daughter's bat mitzvah party at SPACE. The whole, perfect experience flew by like a dream. I spent the following week slowly remembering details and moments that further convinced me of the genius of owner and event planner Elvira Grau, and the uniquely flawless experience of choosing SPACE for any important event. Looking through the photos and and talking to friends, I am continually reminded of all those little details that made the party special. From the ideas I had or comments I made months ago that Elvira and her team carefully recorded so that I would find them fully executed when I walked in for our photo session before the guests arrived to the little and grand touches Space's innovative team created to enhance and highlight the theme or mood we tried to express. Somehow, Elvira and her team were able to understand exactly what I wanted when even I didn't fully understand what I was asking for, and turn that into a fully realized dream of a party. What impressed me most about the entire experience....and there is so much to applaud....was the staff. Everyone was 100% on board, professional and incredibly talented. The food was absolutely out of this world. We threw the chef a bit of a curve ball by requesting an all-vegetarian Bat Mitzvah party, but he never blinked an eye and proceeded to create an ingenious and creative menu that was not only delicious, it was downright decadent. Charlie and his team of DJ and Dancers kept the party going. Every moment of this process, from planning through execution, was a pleasure. Went here this evening with my wife for a family event. I think the space is perfect for certain events and awesome for kids and teens. My cousin put on an amazing spread! The food was really good. Waiters coming around with apps like coconut shrimp, lamb chops, egg plant pizza, salmon tartar, all delicious. Then choices of sliders, turkey or beef. Chinese noodles, chicken and vegetables, mexican or sushi. Loads to choose from. Full open bar with good red cabernet, grey goose vodka. Friendly service and kids get to play video games in the back. Dancefloor with Dj too! This place could not have been better housing this kind of event. Amazing! I had my twins birthday party here and it was by far the best party experience. We had a Mickey Mouse theme and they picked a perfect red and black room for us. As soon as I walked in, someone was there to greet me, help me with the boxes and brought me right to the party room. They were extremely organized and my two hosts, Melissa and Nelson, are THE best!! Super attentive and friendly. The kids had a blast, adults had a blast. Would definitely throw a party there again. Room was nicely decorated and spacious. We have over 50 people at the party. There were 4-5 other party going on and it never felt crowded. Came here for an office event recently. It wasn't what we initially expected because we were told that we would be bowling, so it was a bit of a surprise to see that there were only four miniature bowling lanes and the "bowling" balls were more like small bocce balls with no holes in them. Also, no need to rent shoes, just bowl in what you're wearing! Nonetheless, this is a very nice venue with an interesting concept. There are sizable private rooms, an arcade (fun!) and a room for laser tag (also fun!). There's a loungy vibe to it all. Also, we came here in the middle of a weekday afternoon so practically had the entire space to ourselves. Not sure how much I would enjoy this place if it was super packed. The staff was nice, helpful and responsive. The exterior is very nondescript. If you don't know what the place looks like from the outside, you could easily overlook it. read more

Very Disappointed. This was the 3rd time I was making a party for a bat/bar mitzvah.. wanted a place all in one. This pandemic has made it so difficult for so many ppl including space. I felt so bad about canceling our daughters party but after my mom almost died of covid I could not take any more risks.. what was so upsetting to me is the way Elvira spoke to me on the phone. I get this is a business but you need to think of your customers and really care. This type of business is all word of mouth. Kindness and really wanting to work things out with ppl go a long way.. We had our daughter's Bat Mitzvah on 5/26/2019. Initially, I wanted to bring my own music, but was discouraged by the owner, as she insisted that Space Entertainment Team would provide the perfect service. One week before the party after getting a lot of the run around from the GM Sara i finally got the phone numbers of the MC and the DJ to give them the music list for party selected by our daughter. We specified that there was a lot of music and as long as the DJ played songs from that list it did not matter what order the songs were in. We provided the music for the cocktail hour and the dance sets with several extra hours of music. The DJ did not play our list. The party went on and I periodically noticed the list was different, but we were busy celebrating. After the party I was reviewing videos sent by my friends and family and noted that the music was different. We also chose specific songs for our multicultural friends and songs of special meaning for our family. The music that the DJ played was outdated and just not good The venue is beautiful and stylish. Graphic Designer Rebecca was wonderful: professional, with great customer service and flawless work!!!! The food was excellent. Waiters and bartenders were great!GM Sara although appears to be very pleasant and friendly in my opinion is limited in ability to address individual concerns. She lacks professionalism and at times demonstrated reactive attitude. This type of event at a venue of this high caliber requires excellent customer service skills and great insight into individual needs of clients. I felt she lacked ability to use individualized approach and would benefit from advanced Customer Service Training. I understand she tries hard but always saying: "don't worry it will be perfect is not effective problem solving technique. On 5/29 I emailed GM requesting to discuss my issues with the owner. GM called me to discuss as she reported the owner was out of the country and would not be able to call me until 5/31 Friday. I discussed my issues with her although I really intended to speak with the owner. GM was defensive, apologetic and stated she was so sorry, she understood my points made and said that although she can't do anything now, would make sure this would not occur again. Then, I received an a call from the MC which I did not request, I assume from GM's instruction. As the discussion with the MC went on, The MC denied that the DaJ did not play our music, defending the DJ, stated that I was lying and that all of my songs were played and some additional ones. I told the MC that we were tapped into the DJ music for videography, so we had actual proof of every song that was played to compare with the music list we provided to the DJ and the MC. The conversation ended shortly after. Overall, the guests were very pleased with the food, service and decor. All guests stated that the music could have been better and additional announcements about deserts would have helped. Specific compliments on the food were for the skirt steak, salmon, sushi, beet salad and Mediterranean station. Complaint from guests was about the wontons they were undercooked and too hard. Overall the food was excellent. Music was the one major problem. Not only did the DJ not play requested music, but his choice of songs was outdated and not appropriate for my multicultural guests. Kids and adults should have been more engaging to dance. What is extremely disappointing is that my daughter's favorite songs that she wanted to hear were not played. Please keep in mind when having an event of this level food, decor and music entertainment all hold equal weight. The DJ was definitely the weakest link at the event. We just had a Bar-Mitzvah party for my son and the experience could not have been better. Elvira and her husband Jim (Owners) and their fantastic staff are able to transform their SPACE into a magical moment for any occasion. My wife & I had visited SPACE 2-3x after the initial contract signing and each time we visited the SPACE theme was different depending on the event. It felt fresh every time. Our party was a cocktail hour (hour and a half) followed by a dinner. Elvira was able to guide my wife & I with her vast experience (although she only looks about 30ish). We drank the Kool Aid and took a leap of faith and let her guide us to best party we have ever attended, The food was fantastic!! I had 3 famous restaurateurs (from NYC) who attended and each one pulled me aside during the evening to tell me how fantastic the food quality was. The sushi (served all night) was fresh & taste great. The steak was a fantastic tasty cut that I would order at the finest steak house. Also pasta and Chinese food stations were also terrific! The Master of Ceremonies Charlie was incredibly engaging and had the guests dancing all night. Yes!! We clearly recommend SPACE for your next event! read more

So I had my sons 9th birthday party here. Overall the place is great, it has a lot of different activities for the kids and even for adult events. Our two Host were very friendly and definitely interacted with the kids. They were very professional and let me know in detail what and when the kids were going to be doing. The only reason why I'm giving them 4 stars is because in the arcade room a lot of the games weren't working properly. The laser tag room could've been much better. Instead of having 3 dividers for the kids to just run and hide behind it. A lot of the kids weren't even sure what they were doing because no one was interacting with them so they just went along with everything on their own. And lastly in the party room they set everything up nicely but the kids table was pushed to the right end side, I think it would've been much better in the middle of the room instead of having them tucked away. I would definitely have another party here again but this time probably ask for things differently. read more

Came here for my 7 year old sister's party. IT WAS AMAZING! Activities- "Elsa" from Frozen- A person dressed as Elsa came. It was pretty realistic and the kids were really happy. She played games and danced and took pictures. "Elsa" was also really friendly. This took half an hour. However, some guest came half an hour late and "Elsa" was gone by then. Spaceship and Train- It's like a jungle gym with only 2 ways out. It's easy to get lost inside so no one under the age of 3 or 4. Also, the tunnels are small so no one over 12 in my opinion. The kids (ages 5-7) loved the train and the Spaceship. This took half an hour. Arcade- Plenty of games, and some of the latest ones. Everyone got a $5 card and that was more than enough for half an hour. Each kid got like 500 credits and the average game was like 5 credits. That's a hundred games right there! Food and more- Veggie Wraps- Nice and tasty. These were served almost as soon as the guest came. We got 27 and only had 2 left over. Penne a la Vodka- Really good....It was so good that I took the leftovers home. The pasta was served in a buffet tray with a flame under it keeping it warm.This was served after all the fun and games, right before the cake was cut. Veggie Pizza- It was ok, although one guest felt sick after eating it. Luckily, we had an extra cheese slice. Cake- It was an ice cream cake. It was pretty good but the "design" just had the birthday girl's name and a big word "Space" on it. You can also bring in your own cake. We got the 50 person size since we had about 45 guest (including kids). About 1/4 the of it was left, but I would still do this size just to be sure. Party Room- A LOT better than some other places I've been to. Unlike others, Space doesn't just give you a stick of gum for your party. The room had nice decor, sofas, two tables that were enhanced with "Frozen" decorations, a nice space for socializing, a table for food, and a spot to hang all the coats. Service EXCELLENT!! Look, I had to call in 23 hours before the party because some guest confirmed last minute and Space had no complaints at all. They gladly adjusted for us. We also changed our plans at least a million times and 0 complaints. I changed from bowling to arcade to what not and I was still responded by a friendly smile. Also, we were low on soda for the party and I ordered some more during the party. The soda came in under a minute. Yes, I know it's just a soda but they also said that if we were low on veggie wraps or something, they would gladly get some more under five minutes for us. Tips- Make sure to book at least a month before. If you have something special like a Sweet 16, book at least 3 months before. This whole thing cost us about $1500, but it was worth so much more for the smiles it brought us. :) read more

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for the amazing job you and your staff provided (especially Diana Kim) with our son's first birthday party on Saturday September 21st, 2013. Let me start by giving Diana our party coordinator a special thanks. She was amazing. From the moment we showed up to Space asking for information she gave us the best experience and tour. With the kind of safari theme party that my wife and I wanted for the party, we thought it was going to be almost impossible. Diana was so patient with us. She sat down with us a few times showing us different ideas and I made the idea come to life. Every single one of our guests complimented us on the how beautiful the place looked & how amazing service was. The kids munched on the pizza, chips, soda etc. While the adults enjoyed the greatly decorated platters of chicken quesadilla, nachos, fruit, cheese crackers, mixed wraps, antipasto platter, penne vodka, Spanish yellow rice, tortellini, Sliders, chicken parm, chicken marsala, eggplant parm, mixed garden Salad, and vegetables. The inflatable castle, the arcade, bowling, laser tag and train ride was every kids dream. Let me talk about the lighting and of course the audio system which couldn't have been a better choice. The sound was wonderful (great audio system no need for a DJ) and the lighting was set to match the theme, all the safari colors gave it the final touch along with the slide show on the round projected screen. Great thanks also to the concierge staff who made our guests experience one to always remember. Space and its Staff deserve nothing less than 5 stars. We were excited to hold an event at Space for our graduating 8th graders. Unfortunately, the pandemic made that impossible. Instead of refunding our money, Space essentially stole $10k from a school based non-profit and hurt every parent in our district. Some of us needed those refunds. Very interesting venue. What may look like a warehouse in an industrial part of englewood (but mostly leonia in my opinion), is actually a nice venue inside. its basically one big room with curtained off areas for either arcades, bowling, more games, or more rooms for kids. i like the dj booth that they have. its smack in the middle, but off of the dancefloor. theres lounge areas for you to lay and sit on, cabanas, and even seated tables for a more professional envirnoment. my biggest compmlaint was one bar. which also serves the nonalcoholic items---lines at my event were long and only 2 servers. god bless them but a place that can hold hundreds of people should have another bar. bowling alley is about 4 lanes, and near the bar---a little awkward placeing but i guess it works. Theres also 2 VIP rooms next to the arcade and bathrooms that are private rooms. The arcade is awesome, alot of great choices here. I love the high ceilings, the couches were comfy, and there was security here too. Coat check is a mess and parking is terrible. read more

This place has potential, but fails to meet it. I had purchased an online coupon and went yesterday to try it out. The entry process took forever. First we had to present the coupon to a cashier who read it a million times and then sent us to the office. An employee informed us that we would not be able tu use the laser tag, basket ball courts or the bowling due to the numerous birthday parties that were going on. If they had told me this when I called, I would have been understanding but no mention was madeof this when we called ahead. I pointed out that I had paid for unlimited play and that was not being met. She reluctantly agreed we could use the laser tag but nothing else. We didn't want to dossapoint the kids by leavingn so we entered. We stood on line to play laser tag for 10 minutes only to have a staff member arrive with a birthday party when it was finally our turn. They were allowed to enter, leaving us waiting again. I went to the office to ask for help and they did arrange for the kids to go in. Most of the laser tag packs were not working, the room was very boring and the kids asked to leave before our time was up. Most of the skeeball machines were out of order, half the video games didnt work....etc... When we went to the snack bar, where we had a 10$ credit, the computer couldn't register it, so the poor cashier took a picture of the screen with his cell so that he could prove he had charged us the right amount. At 5 pm, all the machines were powered down so the space could be prepped for a private closed party. There was no announcement this was happening, and the kids were right in the middle of actually enjoying themselves. Itmlookedmlike all of the kids at the parties were having fun. The place is obviously catered to birthday parties, so be prepared to be treated as a second- class guest if you are not there as a group. The younger staff members on the floor were friendly and tried to be helpful, but the office staff was rude and nonchalant about the fact that half of the stuff didn't work. If you used an online coupon, it is worth it. But don't even think about paying full price. Very disappointing experience. And the worst part, is I still have 4 more coupons to use. read more

Stay far, far away from this place. The owner's callous inability to hide her interest in your wallet is a major turnoff, as is her haughty disposition. After speaking to Elvira and telling her my budget, she set up time to meet with me and my child. She gleefully showed us around an event she was setting up. She then took us to her office and, apparently having forgotten my budget, gave me a quote for $30K. When I reminded her (in front of my child) of my budget, she practically had a tantrum. Her face fell, she threw the folder down and said, "I cannot possibly do an event at that price." It was like watching a toddler have a meltdown. Seconds later she disappeared, never to be seen again. Her poor husband was left to show us around and was unable to answer any questions. My child didn't speak another word that whole evening. What was supposed to be the first step in planning a very special day was now a very unfortunate experience. Elvira proceeded to call me, email me, and call me some more, but I gave her the same treatment she gave me - minus the trembling pout and angry tears. I recently learned of a family with a similar experience. They set up an event at the venue's older, much lower prices, and were treated with utter disregard by the owner, who probably felt like she was doing a great favor by even fulfilling the agreement. That is not how a real business should be run - although she will be the first to tell you it is not a business for her, she does not need the money. Whatever that is supposed to mean. read more

My son attended a birthday party yesterday and was really looking forward to the laser tag portion. The party organizer assured everyone that every child would get a turn and explained that they would participate in 2 groups. My son waited for the second group to go, and when he got there, he was told that there were not enough suits for everyone so he alone would not be able to play. He explained that he hadn't played in the first group, and the organizer basically told him that that was too bad. And that was the end of it. jim and elvira grau, the owners of space 54 and space nj are thieves. we paid in full for our sons bar mitzvah in january 2020, when space 54 just opened. elvira said if you pay in full,because she needs the money she will give us a better price. the bar mitzvah of was 3/7/2020, stupid me of course sent her full payment.literally the first weekend of covid lockdown. elvira told us to stick with her she will not screw us and we will be able to do something. of course she had 100 people all screaming wanting there money back. we had a $19375 credit including tax. since covid took too long to settle we couldn't make bar mitzvah. we asked elvira for our money back and she said she cant, so we ended using $5000 of our credit a made my daughter a small engagement party in the tent at space nj. we agreed with elvira that we could use the balance for our daughters wedding flowers and decor. we were ok with that. about 2 months ago we set our daughters wedding date for 11/2/2021. elvira said call us after the jewish holidays and we will set up a meeting. my wife , daughter and my daughters future mother in law went to space on wednesday 10/6. elvira made them wait and hour and finally she handed them over to a melissa who had no clue about our arrangement or party. they explained to her our needs, and she was very nice. elvira came in and was surprised and shocked that we wanted real flowers, our course this was the expectation. my wife set a tentative meeting with the venue with melissa for wednesday 10/13. she called and texted melissa twice to confirm as the venue wanted confirmation of the meeting. no answer. on monday 10/11 my wife text elvira to confirm meeting because no one had responded and it was just 3 weeks until the wedding. with no response from elvira my wife called her and she answers and goes into a tirade on my wife calling her obnoxious, rude and everything else you could think of. my wife was in shock when all she wanted was to confirm the meeting. she ended hanging up on my wife saying "i am done with you". this caused us much stress especially my daughter whose wedding is in three weeks. i left a message for melissa and no answer. i called jim grau and no return call. finally i use a fake name and get melissa on the phone and proceed to tell her the whole story. i was angry not at her but at the grau's. she really felt bad that this was happening to my daughter 3 weeks before her wedding. i than get a call from jim grau cursing me out for upsetting his staff member whom he said was crying. i told him my daughter was crying hysterical. he said let her cry because we aren't doing anything for you. stolen $13,000 and we are left without flowers for a wedding in 3 weeks. this is who they are. they were never going to do it. they just strung us along and are now blaming us which is what thieves do who owe people money, they look for the excuse to not pay back. this is not over for us. we will sue, even though that is useless, i will contact every media outlet i can to stop these thieves. beware to use them. i am not sour grapes here. these are thieves. please call me if you want more info. michael hershkowitz read more

She seemed nice, but later when I called back to discuss some details, Diana acted as if the company was doing me a favor booking this event on a Sunday and not a weeknight. In addition, they took along time getting back to me with a price and despite repeated requests, never sent me a contract. In addition, a week before the event, Diana called me to say they could not have it because I had told them 20 people were coming and they were getting calls from customers that over 100 people were coming. I specifically asked for a package that was for between 60 and 150 kids (not including the adults, ie parents). I had to talk them into it! In addition, their chaperones (who I was forced to tip) were terrible with the kids, unhelpful and on cell phones the whole time. Their arcade is outdated and they are incredibly overpriced. They made our party (Diana) split up into 3 groups to do shifts in different rooms but did not explain this well to parents and did not properly supervise the kids. In addition, at the end, they charged us a lot more than I originally negotiated. The only positive I found was the large party space in the back. The parents were unable to really meet each other or the kids because of the shifts and the fact that other birthday parties were running at the same time. In addiiton, when I got there, they gave me a schedule for the shifts that really only gave our kids 1 hour and 45 of play time, even though I paid for 3. I would NEVER go back. Don't negotiate with Diana. Only use Courtney and get everything in writing before you consider anything. This place is terrible in organization, supervision, and finances. read more

We booked a slot for my son 's 5th Birthday party a month in advance. We payed a deposit of $500 towards a party package worth around $2000. We signed a contract and were told in case we made any cancelations we would lose the deposit. Few days after we get a call from them saying they overbooked our time slot and we now need to move it to another time slot that weekend or another day all together. The options provided were ridiculous. After a lot of discussion I realised they were lying coz they actually now had someone wanting to book the space for an all inclusive event and hence we were being asked to move our time even though we had a contract in place. I was furious and asked to speak to the owner who made the matters even worse. Elvira Garu asked me what I did for a living and I should understand they would not let go of an exclusive event which is a lot more $$$$. This is absolutely the WORST customer service I have ever come across. The people who run this place are FRAUDS . They later sent us an email saying they are willing to "accommodate" us on another day and will give us a credit towards the party. We refused to be accomodated and demanded our deposit back. PLEASE STAY AWAY from this place. There are lots of wonderful places out there who will treat you with respect and make sure your child is made to feel special on his big day. read more

All we can say is WOW! I literally did not need to worry about a thing. What incredible attention to detail. I'm used to planning every detail myself, but everything was taken care of, allowing me to enjoy the party. Sarah our event planner was great! Everything was WAY more than I expected, from the decorations, to the logo, to the food, to the dj. We even got to meet the head chef! Everyone had a blast! I love Space Odyssey. It is very spacious and very well decorated. It offers something to do for everyone in the family. I have gone many times and I always have a good time whether it is for a party or just to hang out to play games with my sons or with friends. read more
