When you maybe lucky enough to find the place open look out for the rip off prices. A £3.99 bottle of wine could cost £5.99. And if you want a newspaper make sure you get there early enough to buy one of their limited edition copies and don't even bother to look for a magazine as sold in most good newsagents. All in all a badly managed establishment aimed to rip off the punter.

Apparently the old Woolies was a larger shop although from what I remember of the old Spar it isn't all that bigger. Having said that they have done a very good job in refitting the new shop. It's very clean and modern looking. As well as the usual convenience store produce you'll also find hot takeaway food, fresh coffee and in homage to Woolies there's also a 'pick and mix'. Given it's location and a relative lack of competition it's usually busy and will no doubt be successful.

A great little newsagent and emergency one stop shop for your basic milk and bread type purchases…read more Saves the bother of heading into town and probably pickuing up a load of rubbish you don't really need. They stock basic foods, rent DVDs, have a lottery machine, sell papers and a huge selection of magazines, cigarettes, beer and wine etc. A great little addition to the village. The food prices are massively more expensive than tesco or morrisons etc, but for the sake of convenience when you just need a loaf of bread it's fantastic. If it saves you jumping in the car, you've made the money back already. The place is under new management since about a year I think, the owners/staff seem to be very nice people, the Brummy girl behind that's usually behind the counter always has a smile and a hello for you.
