Alas, I digress, Browlie's is a store I never miss going into when I'm in Biggar after some messages and I'm pretty well convinced that if you can't find it in here then you probably don't need it. Like so many of the shops in Biggar and other ancient towns the shops can be a peculiar shape with wee nooks and crannies. For example, I thought it odd that they didn't have any milk and dairy products until I discovered a wee corridor-esk part of the shop where they had hidden the milk and also a cash machine strange but true. Great shop, decent service, slightly cramped, but has got what you need.

It's exactly as you'd expect from a newsagent, stocking papers, mags, sweets, drinks and fags. There's also a few Scottish bits and bobs for sale, but it doesn't appear to be the main focus. It's a very small shop, so there's not a huge amount of choice, but the friendly atmosphere keeps their noses in front of the rest.

They often have deals on with bottled bears and Bazardi Breezers and they are often an absolute bargain. I came here last summer as I was making a family meal and I had forgotten to buy tomatoes which were a pretty important ingredient. I nipped along the Tesco Express just a few doors along but they had sold out. Oh dear. Not really sure what to do I decided to give this little store a try. As soon as I popped in the door I was greeted by a box of red, ripe, juicy tomatoes, phew! I bought around 4 and they came to about 80p, what a bargain! The woman working that day was really helpful and chatted to me as she was bagging my tomatoes so I decided to share my tomato based disaster with her. Thank goodness Value Convenient Store saved the day!

I had packed some food and decided that if I passed a small store on the way I would stop and see if they had any last food item(s) I wanted for a morning of exploring. Nearing St John's Episcopal Church, I was seeing the stores thin out and spotted Tesco Express. I slipped into the store and quickly looked through the offerings. I went with a small snack/candy item. There was a short line, which while standing in I noticed a small case of Krispy Kreme donuts. I did not get one of those, but it was a reminder I was going back to the United State of America the following day. Oddly, or goodly depending on one's perspective, it made me want to stay in Scotland more than go back to America.

Their rate was the current 1.35 USD/GBP exchange rate plus only a 3.95 GBP charge. Other ATM's I tried at the airport and at a bank wanted about a 1.55 USD/GBP exchange rate which equates to a ridiculous 15% fee! Otherwise, we like convenience stores like this during our travels for items like bottled water and such.

On my second day, first morning, in Scotland (6 July 2019), I was looking to get a few food items for the day before picking up my rental car and was aware of this store as I passed it the evening before on foot when going to get dinner. The store was bigger on the inside than it looked like on the outside. Sections were well set up and easy to navigate and peruse. I was particularly impressed with a bakery/fresh-baked breads section at the back of the store. In the United States of America, the stores of an equivalent nature might have hot dogs or donuts available, but not fresh-made bread. I got a few items and went through self check out. It took me a couple tries to get the payment right, but everything worked. Worker(s) were friendly.

'Meh' is right on…read more This on-campus cornershop just about does the job when the study stomach rumbles kick in but when it comes to fresh produce, I'm consistently disappointed with the quality of the fruit. Stock is limited, prices are higher than other supermarkets and it generally makes for a cramped shopping experience. I grab and go. As fast as I can. On the plus side, staff couldn't be nicer and the asian food section is very reasonable. But avoid the sad, poorly fruit section!

This is one of the newer Tesco stores located in the central area in Sauchiehall street…read more This shop is well stocked with unusual imported foods that you would find hard to get in an international food store, I'm in general not a fan of Tesco and will only shop there if there is no where else open late. I find the security staff intimidating and rude I think one guy there has mummy issues and should really have counselling and not be taking his anger out on customers who do no wrong. The self service section is a joke as half of them have not been switched on and the one l used made me feel as if l just won the jackpot on a fruit machine in a pub, how can a shop justify paying a customer 62p change in 2p pieces. Ice cream that has been defrosted is being re frozen and sold again when l reported the issue to the duty manager he did nothing. Tesco sort yourselves out!

Even the car park is VAST and there is always a space to park my car, and it is never always that full, it is much roomier than compared to Greenock's Store. Even if the item are not on the shelf, you can be able to ask at the customer service desk, to order for one, and they will reserve it for you. Even you can be able to do online shopping from this store, and I cannot fault this store at all. It is brilliant store.
