My hours are consistently 40-42 per week. While I do participate in the OnCall, which does last a week - it's not like I have to be plugged in 7 x 24 for the week. It occurs once per year. Yes, your phone may ring off-hours but it's not that bad. Any seasoned tech has lived this life. I worked for EDS, GM, and HP in my career. Most on my team are 3 - 5 year vets. So, the turn-over mentioned is likely due to light-weight techs who couldn't take it. I will say that I am humbled by the collective talent on the SD team.
