Targobank is the most unprofessional bank ever. For someone with dual citizenship whose sole purpose it was to access money from both Germany and the US, this bank has the worst customer service and policies. Their arguments are circular and they are generally zero helpful. Example: they changed their system,so as to access your account, you needed a mobile phone number, but only a European one. So, if you only have an American mobile, but a European account, you could neither access nor transfer money - without prior announcement. If you want a professional bank with more pull than the local village idiot, DO NOT bank with this bank. They will only complicate your life unnecessarily.

I was at Media Markt (or was it Saturn?) and I wanted to make a purchase via monthly payments, I got instant approval through Targobank at the store, so as you see, no direct contact, the person handling the application wanted to make the sale, everyone is happy. Second encounter: few months down the line, they kept calling me and insisting I have a meeting with one of the reps so they can help with a mortgage I was shopping for. I insisted that I want the appointment to be directly with the person involved, and not with an idiot who will be typing in the data then send me away. They gave me an appointment for a specific date and time. On the apointment day I had some delay, so I called to let them know, surprise surprise, the rep I was to meet was on holiday and I was to be forwarded to a data entry clerk. I cancelled the appointment all together and ended up getting the mortgage from a professional bank. Third encounter: I was applying online for a private loan, they had a good offer through check24 , I applied, sent in my documents. They have an online status tracker, which is supposed to be updated on a daily basis. One week after sending in my documents, there were no updates, I called them, they said the documents have not arrived and were ready to hang up, after I made a fuss, they looked into it, and found that they did receive the docs but I was rejected. I asked why since my credit score was great and salary was high enough, they would not tell me. SO basically wasted a week of my time just sitting and waiting rather than follow their own process. Quite honestly, I would avoid them except for simple purchases, they do not seem to be able to handle bigger tasks.
