By the time you're adjusting your camera and telling your family where to stand, it's already "okay time's up." Like... we just got here?? Honestly, I'd rather they charge more and give people a few extra minutes. Let us actually take it in, enjoy it, and get decent photos without feeling rushed like we're on some kind of aesthetic speed run. That said, it is a must-see at least once. Just go in knowing it's more of a quick visual experience than something you can really sit with.

Just a heads up, you'll need to book in advance if you want to secure a time slot to see the infinity room. We picked the 3:45 PM slot and waited about 5-10 minutes before entering. There's no food, drinks, or flash photography allowed (which makes sense). To be honest, I was a little surprised by how small the Infinity Room actually is. It's just a tiny platform you stand on surrounded by mirrors so be careful not to get too close to the edges. I think the photos online made it seem much bigger and more "galaxy-like," so I had different expectations going in You're only inside for about five minutes before it's time to exit for the next group. Still, it was a cool experience to check off the list and afterward we walked around The Broad, which made it a fun afternoon overall. I'm very grateful for the memories my family and I got to make together! Quick Note: If you get hungry, Grand Central Market is close by and has a great variety of food spots to choose from! We would watch him play on the TV in the past. We parked on the street right across from the mural, and it was all meter parking. Seeing the mural definitely made me feel sentimental. The artist did a beautiful job at painting them. :)

But I am an NBA fan and losing Kobe so suddenly will shake anybody's spirit. So, on my recent visit to L.A., I made it a point to visit a few murals such as this by Sloe Motions. It's Kobe and his daughter, Gianna as angels. There are several murals scattered all over Los Angeles. I've seen 3 (I wasn't impressed enough to take a picture of the one close to Philippe - the roast beef place). But this one is good. A must-see for anyone visiting the area whether you're a fan of Kobe's or not. It's located at Hardcore Fitness on Pico and Grand.

I'd ridden Angel's Flight Railway many years ago, so it was really special getting to experience it again and make new memories. Such a fun and unique experience! Even though the ride is short, it's packed with history and offers amazing views. The railway is charming, well maintained, and makes for a great photo opportunity. The staff were friendly, the tickets were inexpensive at $1.50 each way, and it's the perfect little stop while exploring DTLA. Definitely worth checking out at least once--especially if you appreciate historic landmarks and classic LA attractions.

Celebrating 125 Years!!…read more Angels Flight, a 298 foot funicular / inclined plane, originally opened on December 31, 1901. It connects Hill Street with California and features two vintage cars, Sinai and Olivet. It is open from 6:45am-10pm every day! This was so fun I rode both cars - up, down and up again! $1.50 each way... such a deal! The ride itself takes less than a minute and besides a little shimmy and shake when the cars pass each other, it is a straight shot. You can pay with your metro card, debit/credit card or cash. It's a fairly streamlined process & you pay at the top. The gates for the funicular are automatic at the top and bottom of the hill & only the top is staffed by an employee. If you want to save $1.50, you can always walk up the nearly 300 stairs to the left of the funicular & get your steps in! Peace.

This dazzling slice of Victorian homes in Echo Park, Los Angeles' Angelino Heights area encompasses the 1300s block and tip of the 1400s. Cinema, Music Entertainment & Television and various digital mediums have been capture on this landmark Avenue from Teen Witch and Grandma's Boy to the original Charmed television series and Michael Jackson's Thriller music video film. You can park on this street, stroll and even photo op (just be mindful of properties as they belong to actual home owners who help preserve their homes that are apart of the National Register of Historic Places with several official Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monuments listed among these homes. It resides in the central east side of town with amazing eateries, siperies, bars, taverns and even music venues like the iconic Wiltern theater off Wilshire/Vermont. You can access public transit via LA Metro, LADOT DASH and it's very own D/Purple Line and B/Red line - though the Purple Line is being extended and serviced the early half of the summer. Driving is still fairly easy, though traffic is extra real during the day and early evening. Loads of scooters, bikes and of course ride share in the area. One of my favorite places to eat is still Monty's Good Burger on Western Avenue between 5th and 6th. Which is also next to Franks and Hanks dive bar and The Artist Tree, both places I support. Discover a ton of karaoke popular spots off 8th like Rosen Karaoke or karaoke w/ cocktails, video games, vendors, patio fun and dancing at the speakeasy Break Room 86, located on the side of The LINE LA hotel off Ardmore Avenue/Wilshire Blvd just across from the Wilshire/Normandie Metro Station. Reading at your local Pio Pico Koreatown Branch Library is fundamental as well as at local mom & pop bookshops and stores like SeJong or Happy Bookstore, both on Western Diversity, culture, art, in a foodie and walkable slice of flavor where local meets tourist in this melting pot inspired and thriving with Korean and Asian Culture. It's not the most cost affordable area with so many lavish buildings popping up monthly if not weekly, but it's still KTown at its core. There's nearly two doesn't schools including the Southwestern Law School and the Wilshire Private School (formerly Wilshire Elementary among other names). Festivals and gathering throughout the year especially for major holidays like Korean New Year and Chinese New Year both also often referred to as Lunar New Year in many parts of the world. What is LA if not a city blended of all kinds of people learning, growing and thriving as best they can. Koreatown is without a doubt a huge part of that.

I drive on her streets cause she's my companion, I walk her streets cause she knows who I am. It's the city I use to live in, the City of Angels, we were once lonely and together now we never cry. No judgment here like some other cities in deep orange and no worrying about labels and what you look like. That's how it should be, a place where you can be you and not looked down upon. Yelp Event Sneak Preview:…read more The theme at this year's cARTeL art installation party was for artists to create their own planet....encouraging you to ponder the moving forward in science and knowledge while contemplating your infinite vision in life. What I like about cARTel is that they look for a variety of different artists every year. They don't just have a group of friends promoting each other. They accept applications, interview candidates and showcase people's talents who are passionate about their art. This preview allowed us to hear the artists' perspective as they were still putting their installations together. From what we saw they have a lot of work to do tonight, but it got me excited about how it'll look upon completion tomorrow night. I wished I had known about this sooner. There are tickets still available. $11 general admission where you're given an entry time block (you can stay as long as you like once in) and $20 VIP which gets you in at any time and front of the line pass to the bar. The bar will be stocked by Stacked wine. The space is large! Featured on the 11th floor. Many segregated areas. There will be a photo diorama type area that reminded me of a Jurassic Park vehicle surrounded by avatar. Cool hanging light installations. You'll walk on Frank's paintings, but don't worry he wants you to. They are all for sale $5-100. Listen and you'll hear moon chimes. There is a space reserved in the back where Dj's will be spinning all night long: Robin People, GOJIRA, FunkTheFresh, Korova, Neo Fresco with Marvel the Gr8, Lo Fi Sugar, Professor Possessor. If you don't have anything to do why not have a good time supporting the arts! Might be better in concept than execution, but so curious to see how it turned out. Most of the installations were nowhere near to completed the night before!! Not tempted enough to return for the actual party. Parking: Private lot attached $5 after 4pm. Pay at the machine before you get in your car to leave.
