This is the 2nd time I've been here. First was to sign up for a library card 8 years ago. Ever since then, I've just used their online e- books - downloading and putting on holds - easy peasy! But, I found a book that is only available in hard copy. WHAT -- I'll make do. The book was on signed out by someone else and I put a hold on it - via their website. This morning, I received an email saying - your book is ready. It took 3 minutes for me to find the book, check it out and get back into my car. HOW COOL IS THAT!? Is anyone doing Libray reviews? We are definitely not coming to the library enough. There are so many resources available besides books. We went to a circle time here, and a bilingual family game night. I also came to their art class. Over the summer they offered a free animal show. I'm blown away of how much is going on here. I highly recommend you should run, not walk to this library. I'm am so happy it is close by and it's open every day, even Sundays. Everyone I have met is super helpful. No complaints. Shout out to Emily! She is my favorite librarian. These are the best parts of community we must foster and take care of. They also don't penalize you for late fees and have no limit for checking out. There is a books sale area and a section that gives away food in the front. People bring things in and others take what they need. I absolutely love that. We need this more! The library did not pass their WC -1 on election day. Unfortunately our libraries will be reducing resources due to budget cuts. I will be emailing my Washoe county commission office about this. I encourage you to do the same. read more

We love going to this library. The staff are really nice and always asking if we need something or anything. The children's section is different from the adult section which is really good. If a child is loud or noisy, you can't really hear that much on the other side. This library has tons of books to choose from whether it's at the children or adult area. They also have the teens lounge. They have computers that you can use. Printers too. They also have different activities set up at the children's area where they create arts and crafts with Spanish and English conversation. Every month they also have a family movie presentation. They give popcorn while the kids are watching. It's nice to have this kind of library where everyone is welcome. We love it! read more

I haven't been to this library in quite some time, but it is the most conveniently located for me and my daughter. The staff were very kind and welcoming. The children's section has quite a few fun things to do and a great variety of books to choose from. They still have the little outdoor tree area to read by, which is nice. They did take away the circular stair room thing, which is a bit sad - that was one of my favorite things about this library as a child. We came back to return some books one day and the parking lot was super full. I decided to go inside and see what was going on. Well, turns out that it was the Wild Things presentation. We hadn't registered, but the lady was very kind and allowed us to day of. This was such a treat! The presenters made it super fun and we learned a lot of new things about various animals. Petting an alligator was certainly not on my to-do list for the day, but it happened! read more

I'm don't understand how a free service provided to the public would get any less than 5 stars. This library is always clean, from the parking lot to the restrooms. Two sets of restrooms. Holds are easy to find, close to the front. We are always greeted and thanked. Every single visit. read more

So far so good, but they have the super expensive return conveyor belts. Use the touch screen and it opens an electronic door and you place one book at a time on the conveyor belt (which, of course takes forever). Screw that. How much of our taxpayer dollars went to that fancy electronic system that takes forever and sometimes malfunctions? I walked my books to the librarian and said, can you return these for me? And she did. Libraries should be bastions of common sense and mental soundness. Libraries also shouldn't have tables and displays devoted to questionable political causes that 5% of the population support. Cheers. read more

I enjoyed the Sparks library very much everyone there was extremely helpful with what I needed to do and especially for the computers.

Little known fact...reading a book from cover to cover has been dang near impossible for me since I was a young child. I much prefer to read magazines and short stories that are topically interesting to me than attempt to turn the pages of a novel. So why in the world would someone like me end up at the library? As I drove there I was asking myself the same thing! There was an event series in town called Spellbinders Reno, where world class magicians visited local libraries to perform FREE shows, and I was coming to see Shoot Ogawa, all the way from Japan! I really had no idea what to expect, and that goes for the show and the library itself. I hadn't been in one for right around 10 years! Well, the library was exactly as I remembered. Walnut colored bookcases and metal racks, oddly colored high traffic carpet that looks as though it hadn't been changed in years, metal detectors/security gates at the entry way beeping every few minutes because a sensor was missed, and kids running around with their "inside voices" looking for that special book. But overall, it was a library, doing what they do best, housing knowledge in the form of books and giving young people and adults alike a way to explore the world through words. We were lined up outside the "showroom" waiting to grab our seats. The showroom was a nice room with risers, curtains, and comfortable chairs, the staff was over the top nice and excited to see everyone, and the performance was amazing! If I catch wind of another performance at a local library, I can tell you that I'll be in line to check it out, and if you've got kiddos, check their schedules and take advantage of the resources and programming they offer. read more

WHOA, I had a huge culture shock walking into this library. I don't think I have ever been inside a library that hasn't had a full renovation or at least a mini face lift. So, when I walked inside it was a strange to odd feeling seeing all the neon lights and the 1960's kind of design/layout. I actually came here to study and was able to do so (noise level low-moderate). The chairs weren't too comfortable though (my behind sank in), but they did have tissue boxes at each table. read more

Love this place. Very friendly staff and the quiet area is roomy and comfortable. Plenty of outlets and the WiFi is nice and strong. This place is a semi meat locker in the summer, which is an awesome escape from the heat. read more

I love this library. Although it is not as huge as it's Reno counterpart, it has an adorable "secret garden" in the library section that I enjoyed as a child, and am now able to share with my little sister. The staff are always helpful, they have great selections, and they bring fun activities open to the public. This is an activity to share with someone that allows you look at books and for free. read more

I'm giving this library 3 stars instead of 2 because the staff is always very polite. The library is older. It's in an older part of town. The computers are a tad dated but still work. The layout is not as nice as others. Every time I go to this library I end up being distracted by kids running around while the parents read or do computer work or adults talking to each other loudly or (on two occasions) bored senior citizens talking to the employees about medical conditions. I only come to this library when I don't feel like driving up Pyramid and each time I go I end up leaving with a huge sense of accomplishment that I was able to endure the mess that this library can end up being. read more

This place needs "zero" stars. Not sure what the "5 star" reviews are about. I went to this library today to print some documents. When I walked in there was an overwhelming smell of HOMELESS PPL SMELL!! It was disgusting! I hurried to do what I needed to do and left fast. This library is disgusting! It is not a clean place. U could smell germs or contact something in the air. Will not be going here again. read more

I love this library and prefer it over the more closer Sierra View location to me. The kids section is very well stocked; bright and cheery, and children's story hours are held regularly by enthusiastic staff members. This has a decent selection of books, good amount of computers and a nice layout. They have recently undergone construction to update the bathrooms. They also have large meeting rooms for various purpose. During the summer heat, it is a nice oasis for your kid to explore some books, play some computer games and enjoy summer kid's programs. read more

I LOVE! this branch. I have been coming here since I could read (1st library card here) they have a good selection, all the basics and fun, obscure or interesting titles to choose from with out having to venture downtown. The staff here is really friendly and will go the extra mile to help you find what you are looking for. I recently took my nephew here- 6 and he asked the women to help him find a book she spent almost 20 min with him asking his reading level and interests, needless to say he was able to find multiple books all of which he enjoyed. The atmosphere is nice and clean, just beware of school days from arround 2:30 to 4 they get alot of teens in there checking myspace and being rowdy its very distracting if your trying to study or I don't know.... read! read more

The Volunteers and the staff at this Library are super helpful; however it is shameful to see the entrance in such poor shape. Power Wash the cement walkway entrance! How expensive could that be? I am sure that Washoe County or City of Sparks has the equipment already. That simple thing would go a long way to improving the curb appeal of this old Library. read more

Ok, the building isn't that nice. But the staff is, and it has the other amenities that the other libraries have. I like that I can request a book from another library and have it delivered here. read more

It may be an older building, but looks should not deceive you. They have great programs for both adults and kids, and a great selection of juvenile books. read more

This library is awesome. I've been here several times and had no idea that I could check out movies. The librarians are kind for the mos part, but I remember one woman being unnecessarily rude to me and my mother. Apparently we were sitting in an area made for just teens and she went about asking us to relocate in a very rude manner. Other than that, it's great. read more

This library is a little gem!It may be a little outdated in appearance,but that is not what I look for in a library.The staff are all so helpful and friendly,still have that small town attitude that I love about this area.Just recently started using a new system (new to me) and the staff was so helpful and patient."Overdrive"is what I am using.Even though most of the former staff has retired,the place seems to maintain a helpful and friendly atmosphere.Plenty of parking which I consider a real plus! read more
