We spent a week here and honestly didn't want to leave. The intimate size of the resort completely changes the experience. With only a small number of rooms surrounding a beautiful shared courtyard, it feels more like staying at a friend's private oasis than a hotel. The staff quickly got to know us by name and made us feel genuinely welcome from day one. The food was outstanding, so much so that we did not leave the property the entire week. Between relaxing by the pool, enjoying incredible meals, and getting to know other guests in the courtyard, it was the perfect balance of peaceful and social. Ugh I really wanted to give this place a five stars because overall I really did like the place. My biggest let down though was the fact the pool and hot tub were super dirty. Stayed for 2 nights, 3 days, and everyday it seemed the pool/hot tub just kept getting dirtier. I never saw anybody come and clean it. There was hair and bugs floating all around and as a germaphobe, I just couldn't stand being in the water! Which really sucks because I feel like the pool is a good center point for the establishment, yet I didn't even want to go in because it was gross. Whoever is in charge, I highly recommend you reach out to your pool people and ask them to clean more! Besides the pool/hot tub being dirty, the rest of the place was absolutely amazing. The room was great. I loved that they had bath salts for the tub to soak in. The area was quiet and relaxing. The staff were super nice and helpful. I loved that they had a welcoming drink and snack for whenever you got there. You got a complementary bag which I used and love. Some other cute things like a basket with fresh towels, water, and snacks. They really did amazing with the customer service aspects and making you enjoy the stay. Aesthetically this place is nice but the service was horrible. We walked over from Ace - don't recommend on a hot day. It's been on my list for a very long time and have stayed at their sister property many times. Sat at the bar for some early drinks. The place was pretty empty it was about 3:45 and we ordered one of their signature drinks I asked if there was any room for dinner and she said they are booked in a condescending voice asked if we could order a cheese board and she said she they were all out. I asked if the kitchen could throw one together and said they are premade so no but she would give us gold fish?? The place stayed empty and I over heard a few walk in's come in after so we left. My husband and I have stayed here a few times; it's such a nice and relaxing couples staycation just a couple hours from LA. We'd lounge by the pool all day, order food and drinks to our pool chairs (which is delicious I might add), until dinner time.. and if you don't want to leave the property, the on-site restaurant is so good too. There are no tvs in the room which I appreciate; truly meant to focus on the company you're with. It's in a great location in downtown Palm Springs, and the staff is wonderful. This a lovely and special boutique hotel - my partner and I loved it. Charming, peaceful, intimate and quintessential California. Each room is slightly different, but beautifully appointed. Gorgeous breakfast served every morning. You can lounge by the pool all day under their misters and just totally disconnect. The restaurant is equally is fantastic. They run on a very small staff but you would never know it. They are all just kind and really care about your experience. My only issue was the queen beds are more like european queens, they are smaller by about 8-9 inches- it was just too tight for us. We were able to move to a room with a king, which made all the difference. So something to think about when you are booking. Overall, this place is fantastic and worth every penny!! read more

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the general manager, Alex, who not only greeted us but personally served our meal inside the beautifully restored barn--once a working stable from decades past. Today, it serves as both the hotel's check-in and its sole dining venue. The Barn operates with a one-chef kitchen, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We discovered it through the Michelin Guide and are so grateful we chose it to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The food? Unforgettable. My husband and I will be dreaming about the cherries and burrata for a long time! The entire meal was the perfect summer dish, especially in the heat of Palm Springs. We left feeling full, yet light--nourished by ingredients that were clearly fresh and high quality. The ambiance was serene, cozy, and quaint. Service was a flawless 10/10. Alex and his small team do it all--welcoming guests, serving food, clearing tables, tending to the guests at the pool, cleaning the pool grounds and even managing check-ins. While that might seem like a lot for one team, we found it added to the charm. It gave the entire experience a personal, homegrown touch that's rare to find. We're already planning our return--next time not just for dinner, but to stay a few nights and soak in all the warmth this little desert oasis has to offer. Worst lunch ever. I suspect the kitchen reheats food from their sister restaurant. The meal provided would be a great late night room service option but certainly not what should be expected from a place mentioned in the Michelin guide. Not to be missed: The peach salad with no peaches (peaches unavailable). I don't think the kitchen has anything more than a hot plate. A toaster oven and a microwave. If you're looking for fun, ask for fries and watch the reaction. This experience was from last November (2025) I'm hoping they will have improved but I'm not about to spend hard earned money to find out. I sincerely hope someone will post a review to prove me wrong because right now, I still can't get the bitter aftertaste of disappointment out of my mouth. read more

We almost went with the room that had the fireplace but I'm glad we didn't because our room was tucked back and peaceful vs. the room with the fireplace is in view of the diners in the evening. Sadly, I am writing a negative review because I really wanted my husband to know how special Sparrows is to me. This is my 7th or 8th visit spanning 4 years. I did speak with the GM, Alex Carlo, about all the things, but his overall response to me was, "Thank you for letting me know and I'm sorry this happened. I'll review this with my team." Unfortunately, I'm huge on customer service and this time they did not achieve the 5 stars I usually write about. These weren't minor issues. Check in was a communication fiasco. Sparrow's said our room would be ready soon. 3 hours later and just after 4pm I walked back to the barn and they gave me one key. This was after going back every 20 minutes or so starting at 3 pm. Next, there was very little left for breakfast the first morning because "they did not anticipate they would be sold out." And once the items are placed out, that's all. Lastly, every morning (3) I had to wait for coffee. Sparrow's is known for treating their repeat clients with a personal, cute "welcome back" note and a little something like a hat or special bag which I really missed this time. Also, I was not given the little brown bag with sage at checkout. I feel sad that this happened because I really cannot support a business without impeccable customer service. read more

Their other two creations, holiday house and bar Cecil are delights. Sparrow felt like walking to a fairy dream land, with bonfires and beautiful souls, coupled w tremendous energy. We saw ourselves in the people working and staying at this hotel. Looking into the other employees and guests eyes, felt an immediate transcendental connection. The hoteliers wrap themselves in other peoples negativity and use it as a shield. Negative reviews were plastered on bathroom wasllls bc they're so secure in themselves. The sparrows lodge is the embodiment of old world meets new in Palm Springs. Richard and Jeff have created a beautiful container that exists within the Palm Springs ecosystem. Exactly what I needed, how I needed it. Sparrows Lodge is my new staycation home, far surpassing the larger place I used to stay at in Palm Springs. The abundance of art and the coolness of the staff immediately won my heart. Checking in at 9:30 pm, I appreciated the calm and chic approach of the bartender/receptionist, which was a perfect welcome after a long day of travel. This place has no TV or phones, a feature I hope stays forever. It felt deeply reviving without those electronics, making it a true retreat unlike most rentals. The signature beds were incredibly comfortable, and the rain shower with authentic Grown Alchemist products was a standout experience. As a gay guy, I felt completely comfortable tanning in my speedos and welcomed by the inclusive atmosphere. The staff wasn't intrusive but ensured I was well taken care of. This is 2024 service: people helping people, not catering to entitled travelers. I will be back and will bring others with me. One of my new favorite spots in Palm Springs the atmosphere is so cozy. It does feel like you're in the cabin great pool and hot tub. Love the Christmas decorations, but what makes this place special is the staff the amazing Diego greeted us and was our go to Guy for most of the time we were there then we were introduced to Jessica and Earl what a fun group they were to chat with they made us stay even more special. Businesses with this type of policy should reconsider it, and should hire hosts that actually understand how to interact with the public. That is ok though, we took our money to La Serena Villa, we had a delightful lunch and are booking into the hotel there for a week. A sweet gem in Palm Springs. The Sparrows Lodge Restaurant did not disappoint. From our summer greens, to our market fish (halibut) and grilled cauliflower - our entrees were fresh and delicious. There are two areas to dine - both with nice ambience - inside with cool air conditioning (which we preferred since it was 104 degrees outside) and outside under the trees. We weren't brave enough to dine in the heat, but we noticed a few guest have copious amounts of cold water and ice and margarita's on hand. Our only recommendation would be to expand the libation list to offer a variety of wines and cocktails. The property is charming, so be sure to wander and explore. We would love to experience an overnight stay in the upcoming months, so we'll be sure to book ahead! read more

Worst service I've ever received. We booked through Orbitz and once we arrived at the hotel, we were told that there was "an issue integrating our reservation." They claimed they had no record of our reservation and took no real responsibility for the error with a company THEY contracted with. We had to spend over an hour trying to find a new room. We were originally supposed to stay at Holiday House but due to their unexpected pool remodel we were moved here. I was bummed about the change of plans but our experience here made up for it. The vibe made you feel like you were far from town which I appreciated because it made relaxation that much easier. Upon check in we were greeted with a welcome sangria (delicious) and super friendly hosts. It was my fiancé's 30th birthday and we were upgraded to the owner's suite! The suite was beautiful and I loved the aesthetic. The first night we ate at the on site restaurant and it was delicious. Kudos to the chef! In the mornings, we took advantage of the free breakfast. It was NOT cheesy at all and really a great offering. The pool was so chill and the misters offered a cooling relief from the heat. While we were chilling at the pool the staff would walk around burning sage which offered a whole other relaxing element. At night, there was complimentary s'mores by the fire and you better believe we took advantage! We also ordered some snacks for lunch and they also DID NOT disappoint. At face value, this property is stylish and chic, but trust me, the walls are so thin that you will hear every single conversation, couples argument, phone call, and bodily sounds your adjacent room neighbors make. The garden rooms surround the fire place and restaurant outside seating, and you will have to hear conversations you simply don't want to hear. If you want a calming and quieter place to rest or relax, you will be better off at a hotel with proper walls. The Barn restaurant food is mediocre, like really if you are coming from the Bay Area or other culinary true farm to table regions, the food here is not what you want, expect or are used to. read more

The only thing I would hope the owners might remedy one day, is that the jute rugs be replaced? Cleaned? There's nothing wrong with them per se- they just happen to be the correct texture to capture and hide the worst little spiky plant nubs that will absolutely destroy your bare feet. Booked a 2-night stay in August 2024. On night 1, our room had termites in the sheets, under pillows, in rafters, and around light switches. Went to lobby for help, and were put in a new room. While in the new bed, a cockroach crawled up my leg. Staff informed us there were no other rooms available. Began looking for a new hotel at 1am, could not find one, started driving home and arrived at 4am. Manager called the next day, refunded the initial charge, and offered a comped 1-night future stay--this didn't cover our losses, and spending time and money to return to this place for another "vacation" is high-risk. read more

We had driven by the sparrows sign many times, wondering what was hidden within. We already had lodging in Palm Springs, but wanted to explore. We are bird lovers and those unassuming little bird-a-wees beckoned us, so we wandered in to eat lunch at The Barn restaurant. Lunch was the perfect time of day to appreciate the Old California motor court cabin type of decor. The rooms are like little Yosemite cabins in the middle of the main drag of Palm Springs. Wood sided, we loved the woodsy ambience of the design. It was a bit like discovering a Carmel cottage in the middle of the desert. You do reach the restaurant by walking around the pool and through the bar, but that adds opportunities for socializing, as does the communal table in the back under a picturesque arbor. There are Adirondack chairs surrounding a rustic firepit, loungy couches with blue tone cushions around a table, and other conversational groupings to choose from for your repast. We sat in the middle of the communal table and enjoyed the company on both sides of the table. I was luck to enjoy one of the best Sancerre wines I have experienced, along with my 1/2 serving of a Meat and Cheese plate with a tiny loaf of sliced bread, pickles, olives and pomegranite seeds. My planche was large enough to provide leftovers, and my husband's gruyere burger was hearty and arrived with a crisp pile of thick potato chips. We tranquilly enjoyed munching on our meals, and admired the calm tranquil vibe of this small oasis in the middle of the city. They also have a treatment room, and a treatment tent, close to a garden with a small trilling fountain that looked relaxing. The lodge had bicycles available,if you cared to partake, and a cozy lounge with a fire in the front. We found this little chunk of nature to be transportive and left with a renewed sense of relaxation. read more

What a beautiful location and facility. My friend wanted to stay here for the weekend, but it was booked. So, we came for lunch which was incredible. The Barn Kitchen is part of the Sparrows Lodge and what a space. You do have to walk through the resort to get to the dining area, but the space is just perfect. It does belong on the mountain side in a vineyard, but was perfect for a desert afternoon. The seating options are plentiful, with indoor and outdoor options. Also, table, high tops and lounge chair/couch seating. The outdoor area was covered in vines and trees which provided great shade when needed. The suites do surround the eating area, which could be a bit weird for laying out, but we ended up engaging in conversation with everyone around. Those eating and those laying out enjoying the beautiful weather. The service was a bit slow, so our quick lunch was a 2 hour adventure. At first, I was a bit put off on how long it took, but in the end, we had great conversations with the people on either side of us, so it was not a problem. Just had to cut out my shopping time, but it was OK. The Blood Orange Mojito was fantastic and my friend ended up ordering one as well. So delicious. They were out of the chicken salad, which was what we were hoping for, but the stepped out of my comfort zone and went with the ham and cheese. Wow...so tasty. Not what I was expecting...well, I was not sure what to expect as Ham and Cheese is not my usual go to options. I am so glad I tried it. Then came the cookies for dessert and we took them to go for the car. Not a good options...they were so soft, it was not easy to eat in the car. So, they went down fast. I wanted more... This place is...special...in so many ways. All of Palm Springs feels like it is in a time warp..stuck in like 1975. This place has a more Western feel..so 1875 not the usual 1975. Which makes it feel really different from all the rest. And, while it has an old West vibe, it still has modern sensibilities. Design features abound. The pool is an oasis against the afternoon heat. The jacuzzi is perfect for a romantic moment after a nice dinner out. I plan on finding/buying the robe that was provided in the room--the first time I've said that in decades of travel. The playlist in the afternoon is perfect for chilling. The Lodge does just about everything really right. We had a rabbit hang on our back patio, hummingbirds fly all around us, and, yes, tons of sparrows at Sparrows Lodge. In general the service was spot on. Tips: they need floats for the pool. Know if you are out late, the parking lot fills fast. The rooms can be dark, which usually is a negative, but with daytime temps at like 1000 degrees (OK just 110) it is a plus. Our room (#2) had a hammock, which was amazing. NB: I almost gave the Lodge a 4 not a 5 because of a screw up with our reservation--sadly. We upgraded and were given a price (in an email) of X. When we checked in, the cost of our stay doubled--luckily my SO caught it. We ended up taking a different, less expensive room--but who knows what might have happened if they were sold out. The woman who checked us in had no clue how to handle it. Lots of other travelers would have been really put off. But in the end, it all worked out...which seems to be the mantra of SL, it all works out really great. read more

Spent NYE here with my girlfriend and came away disappointed for the amount of money I paid for 2 nights. When we first arrived we waited to check in as our room was not ready yet. Finally, we were given a key to Rm #2. I walked in to find the bed in total disarray and wet towels all over the bathroom. Turns out I was given a key to an OCCUPIED room! Thankfully the female guest that was staying there was not in at the time. No apology was given by staff, just another key to a VACANT room (which turned out to be very charming and nice). The pool was amazing and extremely warm. However, the hot tub was quite dirty and disgusting. We spent a total of 2 minutes in there. The next day we purchased a couple massage for $310. When we arrived the tables were in separate areas with curtains blocking us. No explanation was given and I was charged for the couples rate. Earlier that day I received a text message stating that the dinner that night would be a set menu featuring a prime rib cut. My girlfriend is a vegetarian so I inquired if there was a vegetarian option. I was told "yes". So of course when we sat down for dinner TWO prime rib plates were placed in front of us. No one bothered to make a note of my request or ask right as we set down if we wanted the vegetarian option. I really wanted to give this place a nice review as the grounds were well kept (except for the hot tub) and charming. It was a relaxing place and the other guests seemed nice and friendly. But charging me close to $2,800 for a two night stay with all the issues listed above seemed excessive and with little or no apology. I really really really LOVED this place. We ended up here mid-week, having booked directly through their website for $200 a night. It had all of the perks: Adults only, small space, pool, jacuzzi, fire pit, private patio, free parking, free breakfast, free WiFi... How could we say no? Keep in mind that there are no TVs or phones in the rooms. The first night was great! Relaxed in jacuzzi, showers off and went back out to the fire, had a great night of relaxation. The second night rolls around. We are at the very end of the rooms, so we only share one wall. The lodge isn't full and we can see inside all of the empty pool rooms. Unfortunately, they placed us next to a young couple who were really "living their best lives." I wish that management considered placing them somewhere else, especially since they were only there one night. read more

Listen up everyone, this quaint, tranquil and amazingly well-run Lodge is a hidden gem for anyone looking to explore Palm Springs in the quiet relief of a kid-free environment! I have kids, I like them but when my wife and I get away we appreciate not being around them ;-) The rooms are spectacular, spacious with a really cool vibe and little patios to relax with your complimentary coffee and breakfast. Bath products are high quality and the bed is oh so comfortable. We spent hours at the pool, really comfy chaise loungers surrounded by gorgeous palms and a perfectly heated pool plus jacuzzi. The staff has been overly hospitable especially Chris who has recommendations galore. This place simply put is an exceedingly special place that if you blink you'll miss the sparrows on the sign welcoming you in. I've been at this property five times, and used to enjoy taking people there for lunch or dinner. Shortly after it opened, I'd recommend that friends consider staying there. But they complained about the staff. Our last two dining experiences turned us off forever. Arriving with a party of four, for an early mid week dinner, the staff acted as if they were doing us a supreme favor by seating us. They said they had 30 reservations for dinner that evening. During the dinner hours, only 4 other people were seated in the entire place. The restaurant manager then said they had 22 no-shows or cancellations. Obviously they lie and the staff doesn't feel like working. Today three locals went in for a 1:10 pm Tuesday afternoon lunch and the restaurant was 95% empty. The staff was unwelcoming, arrogant, and turned us away, saying they had too many lunch reservations to feed us. The whole property, and parking lot were 90% empty. There was one table of four people eating, and it was 1:15pm. Well past the peak lunch hour on a Tuesday. While the setting is charming, the food is expensive, average and the attitude of the lazy staff is not hospitable. Hello investor/owners of this property! Change the management team and your policies. I've had homes in Palm Springs for 26 years and if you're not welcoming locals, you're not recommended as a place to stay or eat. I've seen unwelcoming restaurants and inns, like Sparrows Lodge, fail 50+ times. Without the recommendations of locals, businesses in Palm Springs don't thrive. read more

A revelation of superb food and service. Love the location and the no kids policy for the site. We ate great food in peace and wished we were staying here instead of Triada. The wine choices were excellent and a lot of thought went into the prep. Really our fave new PS spot. read more
