Tiffy, 8 year old rescue doggie from Solano SPCA.

I adopted my 8 year old toy poodle from this SPCA. She is the most wonderful little being. She came from a negative environment and she has just clung to me since we met. She is more comfortable now and we are enjoying life together. Thank you for everyone that works at Solano SPCA for the work that is done in rescuing all of the animals. My heart goes out to you for performing the necessary surgery this little one needed. Many, many thanks. Bernadette

3yrs ago, I adopted Jingle from SPCA, since then he's been a great addition to our family, filled with laughs and joy. I urge everyone, not to look at specifics when you have the intention to adopt, every dog is filled with love, bring one home, give them love and they'll give plenty more love back!!!

Got a nice pup friend this week. The staff was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the animals. Reasonable prices and such a beautiful facility! Thanks for the help ladies. UPDATE: Juneau has been a wonderful and healthy pup.

SPCA is the best place to adopt a pet! My boyfriend and I have been wanting a dog for about a year. One Sunday morning after breakfast he asked me if I wanted to go look at dogs and I said yes of course. No other shelter was open besides SPCA. So we went and we were looking and it was a nice clean place and we immediately saw DAISY she was a German Shepard mixed with cattle dog, she was 8 months old and she had my boyfriends personality and we continued to look as more people came in. We just stoped looking and went inside and made the best change of our lives by getting DAISY. The staff at SPCA is amazing they take really good care of their animals and they treat you with respect and they don't force you into buying a pet. They gave us a free check up at Cal West in Fairfield and the doctors there are so nice and informative. Come to realize that they also work at SPCA so we know that our dog is in good hands!! If you want to adopt a dog I recommend going to SPCA. It's the best place ever!! We had a good experience! Best choice my boyfriend and I ever made. We have had her for a little over a month and it's been the best having her.!

Ask the Community - SPCA of Solano County

Do you do blood work to screen for kidney problems? I found a cat on the street and notice something serious.

Unfortunately that is not a service we provide. What seems to be the issue with your stray cat?

I was wondering if you guys do microchip for dogs?

Yes we microchip dogs anytime the shelter is open for $30. This includes the registration.

Need help finding my 3dog all girls?

Please send a photo to our Facebook page SPCA of Solano County and we can post it. Did they get out? Descriptions with specifics and location of where they are lost from helps. Were they micro-chipped?

Besides their expertise and efficiency, Dr. Bellmund and her team were kind and compassionate--just what I needed at a time when I was worried and concerned. All that and--the pricing is significantly lower than a recent estimate I received from a local private-practice veterinarian clinic. Buddy is now a happier cat.  I'm seeing a positive change in his personality.  Thank you, Joybound, for all you do for pets and pet parents.  I am grateful.

That morning we found a mama possum who very recently died in front of the nest she prepared for her babies. She had been injured. We called the center and spoke with Mike (I think that was his name). I was prepared for a negative and rude response as I had received in a previous call a few years back when calling about an injured bird. Instead, Mike was concerned and asked me to bring the baby possums right in. I was not prepared for this kind and caring response so I continued to advocate on behalf of the possum babies. He was very kind and again encouraged me to bring them in. When we arrived, Wendy was expecting us and immediately took charge. She confirmed that the mama was recently deceased and checked the pouch for any babies. She then checked the nest as we had brought in the entire nest thinking that there were only 4 babies hidden. Wendy found 11 babies. She had already set up an area for them to be placed in the center. Meanwhile she provided great information on possums and the wildlife center. She also provided information on the plan of care. It was truly an amazing experience and my heart was lifted knowing the babies were in such great hands. They are back on my donations list Much love and appreciation to the Suisun Marsh Wildlife Center

I didn't…read morereally ever visit this place until I was at the yummy Popcorn Store last year, walked by & seen an ad taped on the window that advertised doggy-day-outs (visits and hangouts with dogs for 15 minutes of longer) or doggie sleepovers. Answering that sign was my foot in the door to the shelter and how I started to visit the cats & dogs, take the orientation/volunteer classes, do doggy day outs, sleepovers & adoptions here at the shelter. I've even dropped off blankets, towels, hand towels for donations, just walked around to visit & give treats to happy, sitting doggies, to hang out with cats, and also for a sad reason-to quarantine my beloved doggie due to a biting incident. I'd highly recommend this shelter to fill your heart-to lend a hand, volunteer, and share your love with these unhoused animals by walking them around the block, taking them for a hike, a Pup-Cup at Starbucks, to the park, or to even foster the cats, dogs, or other furry creatures. The first animal we fostered here was a Boxer mix named Josh Hartnett. He was so full of energy, excitement. He was the star in his own show and our family was just his supporting cast. The surprising & amazing thing the shelter did, was the immense support we got while fostering Josh. The shelter provided all the toys, the kennel, dog food, leash, dog bowls, pretty much everything you would need to take care of a dog in your own home. Any time I had a question or concern, I could text them & they were timely to answer & meet all my needs & concerns. I remember one time Josh quickly chewed up all the toys they gave us. Concerned with his stress or even him chewing up our belongings, I asked the shelter for more chew toys. They put some in a bag for us & left it outside for easy pick up since I had to come by after hours (they close at 6pm). I liked that they are responsible for their animals reproduction and even had an established appointment for Josh to be neutered which I knew about via email. After 2 weeks of fostering Josh in our home, he went to get neutered. I kept track of him when he went to another dog foster parent, then eventually when he found his fur-ever home. Sadly, we didn't get to see him after we fostered him, but the best part was seeing him be loved & cared for on the Facebook Foster thread by other amazing foster parents then his eventual adoption. The shelter does really well to help the public be aware of the energy, social needs, cat/dog friendliness, housetraining needs, a potential owner would like to know before adoption. Green paw means pretty laid back, orange paw is in the middle, purple paw is high. There's signs above the crates that specify their approximate age & breed. While a potential adopter walks around they're welcome to grab a paper bowl & fill it with treats & treat them as long as the dogs are quiet, and sitting. Adopters are also welcome to hang out in a room or in the play area with a dog they'd like to get to know more. There's also a whole cat/kitten section and a nice room to hang out with them. I've even seen other little creatures available like hamsters, guinea pigs & turtles there etc. Here's the link to adoptable dogs: https://elkgrove.gov/adoptions/current-dogs-shelter Here's the link to adoptable cats: https://elkgrove.gov/adoptions/current-dogs-shelter Here's the link to adoptable animals, not a cat or dog (I see a bunny & a turtle currently): https://elkgrove.gov/adoptions/current-dogs-shelter I love that they have barn/working cats too. Adoption fees range from $10-$150. Minus a star because they don't seem to have enough staff/helpers anytime I've been there so often times I have to wait. Good luck & hope you find an animal you can love, foster and hang out with!
