I would give no stars if possible. I spoke with a woman in February to have this company cater at my wedding in May and sent them the information requested along with a deposit. I never heard anything else from them so found another caterer. They wouldn't answer any form of communication. Today, I receive my check back and an u signed note that said to contact the name in the post it note at the phone number provided with questions. I called, but had to leave a voice message although no name or business was given or recording. About half an hour later I got a text message from the person on the sticky note with this message: "Sorry the business closed and the business manager was to get in contact with everyone but guess didn't reach you. Yes we never cashed the check and sorry about everything." Apparently they closed suddenly and don't plan to reopen. read more

When you visit the Special Moments website, it clearly states that you can contact them through email or phone to request a rough estimate of items you selected from their menu. So, the first time I contacted them, I provided some details about my wedding reception, a list of items from their menu & approximately how many guest will be attending my event. Apparently, I must not have typed my message in English because they emailed me back with the following reply ..."We are here to help answer any questions and provide a written estimate upon request. Once again, please call or e-mail with any questions or to set-up an appointment...Thanks, Steve". Know where in their reply did I receive an estimate! Then I sent them a second email (dumbing down my choice of vocabulary) that said: " My fiance & I were wondering if we could possibly get a rough estimate of the following items...if there's a way to estimate x amount of this dish serves x people?". I thought my message made sense. I've visited numerous sites that said (example) " 20 lbs of fried chicken serves 15 people" is what i was asking for. I didn't think I was asking too much. Their reply was "Hi Eryion...Please cal; our office when you get a chance, we have a number of questions to clarify your request." I'm sorry, but I can't comprehend what was so damn confusing about my simple request & was beyond ticked off at this point. So, I did call & explained the emails & what I was asking for again. I was then told they couldn't give me an estimate over the phone & to email them. I was ready to pull my hair out! Their final response was "Hi Eryion...Although in some cases we sell items by the pan, what each pan can serve varies based on what else is served with it. If I price it out per item for say 50 persons and you then tell me the combination you want, you may have to much food and the cost will be higher than needed.. We call that a menu mix. The best way is to approach this is tell me how many people and a list of the different foods you would like. You will save money with that approach and we will save time. I will wait for your preferred combination and will price it out for you...Thanks, Steve". I did send you a list & a total of guest attending & they still couldn't figure this sh*t out!!! Seriously! This is a couple of years late, as we used Special Moments for our wedding in May 2016. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We received many compliments about how delicious everything was. We enjoyed working with Steve as well and appreciated how he took control and made sure every detail was perfect for our wedding day. It was very nice to have an experienced cater that knew exactly what to do and even provided us suggestions on how to improve the flow. Would strongly recommend working with Steve! read more

We used Special Moments catering for business lunches August 21 - 23 to feed 55 people. Two days we had full service with a hot buffet. The choices of buffet items are abundant so you can customize the menu to satisfy all your dietary needs. The food is delicious and there is plenty of it. The roast beef is so tender and the chicken marsala is great. The women who came those days were friendly and did a great job. The last day we did boxed lunches and the sandwiches were fresh and the potato salad is yummy. And you cannot beat their prices. We will continue to use them for business meetings. Parents of Missy K. Steve was rude and inconsiderate of my daughter's wishes. He was over an hour late to the set up on the day before the wedding, and said it was her fault for not having the table runners sized correctly when he is the one that actually provided the table sizes. The "lemon chicken" was dry, the green beans were not fresh as they had been at the open house show. He kept reminding us that he had been in the business for many years...but he must have forgotten the old saying "the customer is always right". His staff and I had a run in 3 times during the reception and she had the audacity to tell the DJ to shut down the music at 930, the night was over. He was upset because we found another bartender, because he would only serve for 4 hours. read more

I would not recommend this caterer for anyone. The food was great and the service was great because the man who runs the place wasn't there. Steve is probably the rudest man I have ever met. The day before my wedding we were supposed meet and he was 30 minutes late. On top of that he was very rude to me. He told me that my wedding pictures are going to be terrible because of the way we wanted things. So if you don't do things his way, hope you are ok with being treated like crap if you decide to use this caterer. One more thing we didn't have the plates we ordered. We had Special Moments Catering for our son's wedding in July 2017. The food was good - no problems there. Our trouble began the week of the wedding. Our son and future daughter-in-law told him early on that the families were supplying the appetizers: meatballs, cheese etc. He never said anything about this until that week when he suddenly freaked out at the mention of hot appetizers! Did he think they meant cold meatballs? I can see how he needed to think of food safety and the well-being of our guests, but this information should have been communicated to us sooner than five days before the event. We had to give him ingredient lists and bring him the food to heat and serve. After many phone calls and arrangements he was finally satisfied with the appetizers. We really didn't need anything extra to do that week but I was determined that my new daughter-in-law, whom I dearly love, was going to have the wedding and reception that she wanted with as little extra stress on her as possible. The day before the wedding we were decorating the hall and setting the tables. He tried to tell us what time we had to be done decorating so that his people could put the silverware on the tables. Apparently if you have them supply the silverware you can not touch it, until you are actually eating with it! We pushed him back a few hours but the minute he walked in he started rearranging the tables and turning off the A/C units we had rented. We got the exact units that the hall told us other people usually rented. He said they wouldn't work and he went around opening doors and windows - and it was 90 degrees. Someone commented that they felt all of the joy being sucked right out of the room. At the reception one of the servers snapped at a guest when she asked where the appetizer napkins were. She was told they were on the table - they weren't until after she asked, when they suddenly appeared. In general, he was overbearing, rude, and unprofessional, and added a lot of unnecessary stress and aggravation to an already busy and stressful weekend. read more

Although the food was good, the service was horrible! The planning process was unnecessarily difficult. Come the day of, Not only was the owner Steve rude to the family that came into decorate for my wedding but he said that my favors looked like they came from Walmart and weren't good enough to be next to his dessert table. The bartender provided by them was rude to my guests and served the liquor that she was told was supposed to be saved for our bridal dance. If their service wasn't bad enough we were charged 1000$ extra than originally quoted. read more

This catering company was recommended to us from a friend who had used them before. Upon first meeting, I was really impressed with the food and the kindness of their worker. With our wedding date fast approaching, we had to deal with Steve, the owner, quite frequently. He has what I would call a "harsh" personality. I understand he has been the in the business "for a long time" which he repeatedly told me, but he was not very polite or understanding. He was really not supportive of our wishes. When it came to setting up the hall he was very bossy and rude about my decor. I wanted my ring bearers and flower girl to sit at the head table with everyone else, and he had a huge issue with it and practically refused. After the caterers left, we simply added chairs to the front table-problem solved. It seems after he got his money he couldn't care any less about our wedding. The staff on the actual day of our wedding were wonderful and accommodating, and I feel bad that they have to work for that man. read more

I just had them do my wedding a few weeks ago. Food was good. Service by the owner and a couple of their employees was TERRIBLE!! I had my reception hall set up the way that my now husband and I wanted. The next morning I came in to finish setting things up and they had moved and changed things around with out consulting with me first. When I asked why they changed it and explained to them why I wanted things where they were they gave me HUGE attitude about it. This not only happened when I first arrived but through out the set up process. They stated to me that "this is not their first time doing this." I understand that they have done this time and time before but you can give me your opinion or idea without having an attitude or causing a huge ordeal because its how I, the paying customer, wanted it and not their way. Also, reception started at 5:30pm they did not arrive until 5:15pm. They did not inform us of many details until it was too late to change them. VERY unhappy with their service. read more
