We had a terrible smell in the coffee bar area the first night, I'm sure it was a dead something, they took care of it right away! Charging extra for the in room coffee is very cheap! Come on!! The foot stool in our room has seen better days, it was FILTHY! There's old and there's need to be replaced, the patio chair covers are disgustingly dirty and old. I'm sure they're at-least 30 years old. Small details like updating visions and tub stoppers (brown and disintegrated) can go a long way. We had a private parking spot next to our cabin and STILL got charged parking fees. That's a bit ridiculous, for the price everyone pays there is plenty that should be included. Ice to get the park pass for free, we used it daily. I'm not sure I'd recommend to anyone, unless they got it as a gift.

We've been coming to the area for a few years in the summer for kayaking and Algonquin Park. Good food, cute rooms, clean and an outdoor hot tub. It's about half an hour away from Algonquin Park. We stayed in the "Hudson's Bay" room which was done up with Bay blankets and a little fireplace. There's a nice walking trail that goes through the bush that we liked too.

Inside the room, the vinyl venetian blind over the door window is falling apart. I was so tempted to go to Canadian Tire and buy and install a new one where you can pick one up for less than 20 bucks. Our room is out of date and looks like it's stuck in the 70's. The bathroom towels feel hard because they're probably hung to dry outside after washing them. The old and antiquated hot tub is not very handicap friendly as my wife could not get in easily since there are no hand grips or bars to get in safely. There is a path in the nearby woods, but we opted out of walking in it since one of our friends got a tick on his forearm after he emerged from the snowmobile path from a walk. In summer, it's full of mosquitoes and blackflies, so sitting outside on the very old and faded lawn chairs is out of the question. Breakfast was very good but, instead of really nice napkins, we were given folded paper towels instead. I mean, come on! The signage to the inn is by the side of the highway and not very easy to see and easy to miss the inn especially in the dark. Because of it's remote location, there is very few competition in the county. The owners seem friendly enough though.

While planning for my first visit to Algonquin Provincial Park, I researched several accommodations…read morenearby. I didn't want to spend a lot of time driving to and from the park. The properties owned by Algonquin Accommodations were the closest. Of the properties, I decided to stay at the Dream Catcher Motel. There is no checkin on the property. Instead, you have to checkin at the Algonquin East Gate Motel, which is less than 1km away. Both places are on Highway 60. The motel is pretty basic and what you'd expect from a motel. I stayed in room 1, which is a small room with two beds, a television, a full-sized refrigerator, a microwave, a combination heat/air conditioning unit, and a ceiling fan. The bathroom is a separate room. One of the reasons why I chose this room over others is because it was not only a good price, but also because the bathroom is in a separate room. One of the rooms had the shower in the same room as the bedroom. The room itself was clean. The only thing that was annoying were the ladybugs and flies that were in the room when we arrived, likely from cleaning staff opening the front door. The bathroom includes a packaged bar soap and packets of shampoo. Make sure to bring your own drinks and food to reheat. There aren't many food options nearby and the few that exist close early. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Dream Catcher Motel.

The owners - Corinne and Gord Evely - are very friendly and informative. We rented Cabin #1, a 2 bedroom cottage with all the amenities - 1st BR w/ a queen bed & 2nd BR with a single over twin bunkbed. Running water (altho' not potable), full bath, complete kitchen w/ fridge, oven, microwave, coffee maker and dining area. Living room with satellite TV. Fully screened in porch. Porch landing and a large gas BBQ. A fire pit next to a picnic table and seating in Adirondack chairs (plastic, but oh-so comfy!) A small lake is attached to the property. There are various boats available to use for free (!!!) and a swimming raft out in the middle of the lake. A wee bit pricey for this old boy's taste ($195 per night w/ a min 2 night stay, weekly available), but my son footed the cost and I bought the food, so... A most enjoyable stay & visit at the Hush Lodge! I am a bit biased, having frequented the area for decades and absolutely loving it. If you have the chance, I'd highly recommend a visit to the Barry's Bay / Combermere area and a stay at the Hush Lodge & Cottages. You won't regret it!! -- Greybeard Robb

The service is great, it's wonderful to go where the food is made for you - home-cooked meals 3x a day, relax on the water or a swing, paddle out on your board while still being able to see the bottom of the lake. A family and pet-friendly place to kick back, and connect. Made more special this year with most of our grown children joining us. Oh, yeah! The stunning sunsets!
