After Hurricane Florence here on the NC Coast, my former (rental) home had to be gutted and the prospects of finding a new home (or even storage for my belongings, because of the unique circumstances of the hurricane devastation) were dismal, according to other agents. Nevertheless (this is a true story !), one call to Margaret Hitchcock allowed me (through her efforts) to purchase a new home within a matter of hours of its listing and her follow up services were amazing (she handled everything incredibly efficiently and with minimal cost for me). Within 30 days I was relocated in my new home (delighted with it) and ... well, what else can I say ... truly amazing. I really can't say any more than that. On top of all that, as if we weren't already paying ridiculous prices for small living spaces, rent is being increased by hundreds of dollars at the end of our lease. $1,400 for a one bed one bath that's pretty much just a studio with a separating wall? No thank you. $1100 was already too much, I don't care how "good the views and location are". It's not like your amenities get used, the gym is small and not a wide range of equipment, the pool is closed half the time, package delivery is confusing and I've filed more non-delivery or stolen complaints with Amazon in the last two years than I have in my life. Communication is sparse here, and you're unlikely to get the same information from two different employees in office. Read the fine print of your lease, what you signed to begin with is how they're doing it. If you wanna end your lease, you better give a 60 day notice with your forwarding address ready. Any less and they put you on a more expensive month to month lease up to or through that 60 days even though the "new" realty team requires 30 days.

They wanted me to keep the themostat at 67 and pay for the air movers electricity on my dime. There contractors used my $1000 Dyson vacuums plural to clean up SHEET ROCK. I have newborn there's mold in my walls, they cut half the walls out and removed the insulation. Nothing was repaired until I turned in written notice to vacate and turned keys in January. I paid thru December even though the apartment was unlivable. Gave 120 days written notice I I was leaving and still these people want to EXTORT people who have been displaced during a storm with children for months!!! All they had to do was fix the apartment in a timely manner 4months is not timely. 4 months and YOUR contractor destroyed two vacuums you took food out of my kids mouth and made us live in a car!!!. You people are disgusting.

We have been renting from Bluewater for five years now and never had issues like the trip we just…read morereturned from. We knew as soon as we opened the door that this house had issues. It looks dirty, the beds are old, blinds were broken, the kitchen floor was like a fun-house floor, the ceiling fan in the living room couldn't be shut off, the dining room light was ridiculously dim, the vent in the kitchen ceiling blew cold air directly from the outside the entire time, the neighbors could see directly into the bathroom because those blinds were broken too, and there were roaches. Lots of large roaches. On top of that, one of the bathrooms was so tiny that you could barely sit on the toilet and the shower was a joke. We're not particularly large people, but we couldn't use that bathroom. We arrived Saturday at 4:00, and I emailed Bluewater that night at 7:00 because I was so disappointed in the house. I listed half of those issues because that's all we'd noticed at that point. It got worse as the week went on. We've rented multiple other houses on Ocean Drive and this one was the worst. I received a quick response and someone showed up on Sunday (let themselves in even though we were sitting right there which I thought was incredibly rude) and changed a lightbulb, took pictures, and then I never heard anything again for the rest of our stay. I'm sorry, but at 3K for a week, someone could have come and hung $10 blinds in the bathroom. The entire house looked dirty and dated and was poorly stocked. Stay away from this place. I'll be sharing this review everywhere so no one else has to have this kind of experience.

Great price and fabulous location-should have known it was too good to be true. Huge hole in decking-like big enough for a person to fall through. Leaking appliances and roof. House is absolutely disgusting. A neighbor stopped by when we were leaving. He said the home is completely neglected yet still rents. Don't waste your money! We've stayed at two additional homes since then. Both meh. The latest, 6/2021, had half smoked cigarette butts on the dresser and under the bed...is that actually considered Covid 19 level clean??? How do you miss cleaning those as well as addressing the smoke smell in a non smoking home. Also this rental was in June when you would expect the homes to be in pretty good shape-not lots of wear and tear. This home had dirty blankets, broken appliances(which were fixed while we were there), hair in the shower...too much to dismiss as a random miss. Bluewater's attention to detail in their rentals has declined exponentially over the years. We love renting in EI but Bluewater will not be our go to rental company moving forward.

The landlord, Jerry, 2209 Foxhorn, was wonderful and kind and attentive. We build a great relationship with him, or so we thought. When it came time to move out his wife lost her mind, and was screaming and swearing about the behind the fridge having some dust. The management company, who had previously signed off on us doing a great job cleaning, and said we would get out deposit back, was there, Melissa who works for that company had recently been trolling me about the move out and that she wanted my rug (weird), and laughed at the landlords wife lost it like a petulant child. Melissa sent me a series of last min texts saying they needed to get in to do an inspection within the day (illegal, legally you need two days notice, then freaked out and said her husband has his face slammed in the door- spoiler, it was not slammed in his face, just another example of the crazy). I spoke to the owner, who I knew from mutual activities,and she refused to help. Stay away. They are absolutely crazy and corrupt. We did not get our security deposit back, also illegal for normal living in a place. We paid $400 in cleaning to make sure it was in great condition when we moved out. Just a nightmare
