What appealed to me mostly was that they opened early, about 7:00 or 7:30 AM as best I recall. It's not a "modern" barbershop by any means, but it served the purpose of getting the mop on my head cleaned up. The barber/owner is an older gentleman and seemed to know his trade well. This is a great, small-town family-owned (father and daughter) barber shop that feels like you've stepped back in time a bit. The inside has black and white checked floors, and is completely decorated with photos of classic cars. The person that owns the place also runs Cynthiana's annual Rod Run -- one of the largest car shows in Kentucky (the whole town shuts down for a day just for the show). Custom Cuts is very popular and seat in the waiting area is typically occupied -- especially on a Saturday morning! There are only two chairs and two-three barbers, hence the wait. We usually wait about thirty minutes for a haircut. I try to take my son on weekday mornings when possible. Recently, on a Thursday morning, there was no wait at all! They are also kid-friendly, offering little cars to play with (which my son LOVES to do and makes the waiting completely bearable), a kid-sized booster seat in the barber chairs, and a piece of candy when they're done. Both hairstylists have done my son's hair and both have done really well. As of this year (2020), prices have gone up a bit -- haircuts are now $15. Still, not a bad price to pay for a family-owned local business and good haircuts! We will probably be customers for as long as we live here!
