After purchasing thousands of dollars in running…read moretrim with an acceptable result (some issues with them not shipping the requested lengths, therefore incurring unnecessary waste), we ordered select cypress to construct faux beams as a central feature in the house. The wood that was delivered was absolutely warped (most was warped 0.75" - 1.5" in a single board), knotty and some pieces were even split. The wood was unloaded and the painter proactively jumped on it and began staining it. When the finish carpenter arrived the next day, he quickly pointed out the defects, and we immediately called North Rome Lumber. Brandon was quick to point out that if we had problems with the wood, we should have not accepted delivery and that once we did, he was no longer responsible. Zero remorse, horrible customer service, and completely unwilling to help find a solution. North Rome did nothing at all to rectify the situation and blamed us for accepting it, even though they obviously did not QC it before it was shipped. To avoid trashing thousands of dollars in lumber, we altered our design to shrink the size of the beams being built and invested several days in labor to trim down the lumber to be straight and splice/join pieces to remove the knots and splits. Now, several months later we needed a few more pieces of baseboard (custom profile) to finish out one last room of the project and Brandon is refusing to sell us the baseboard. In fact, he instructed the salesperson to not even call us back. Be advised that while North Rome Lumber has been around Tampa for decades, the newer ownership is not honoring its previous reputation and cannot be trusted to do the right thing when it matters.
