I had such a great experience at Spice Market / House of Spice and felt compelled to leave a review. I came in on a mission...I wanted to cook a special dinner for a friend who absolutely loves Tadka Dal. I had a long list of authentic ingredients, many of which were completely unfamiliar to me coming from a very American cooking background. I was definitely wandering the aisles with that unmistakable "lost" look on my face. Before I could even ask for help, one of the store employees approached me with a big smile. His English was broken but his enthusiasm and confidence were crystal clear. He took one look at my list and immediately waved for me to follow him. From aisle to aisle, he moved with total authority and warmth, showing me exactly what I needed, explaining options, and helping me choose the right sizes and quantities. No upselling, no rushing...just genuine help. In a short amount of time, I had everything on my list and felt way more confident than when I walked in. The store itself is packed with variety but not overwhelming. Shelves were clean, no dust anywhere, which made it feel like products move and stay fresh. Prices were very fair, honestly better than what I found online, and portions were practical for home cooking. What really stood out was how welcomed I felt, especially when it was obvious I was out of my element. That kind of friendliness matters. House of spices is an Indian grocery store in Fort Myers that offer variety of spices, herbs, beans, snacks, rice, flour and frozen food at this location. The store is conveniently located off I-75 off Colonial Blvd. There is two or three display case of various produce. The store is clean and well organized. This is my visit and have a crave for some garlic naan! As I examined about more than a dozen of naans available, I realized I still have a package from Trade Joe's. No question about this, there are more selection here than Trade Joe's! When I saw that Parle-G Gold cookies, I picked up three small packages for snack or go with my coffee or tea. In fact, you can dip the biscuit in hot tea! May be that vanilla and crunchiness, this is one of my favorite cookies. Also pick a frozen Chicken Vindaloo and Kofta Curry. I'm not familiar with the brands so I pick up only one each for a sample taste test! The price is reasonable here and above all the staff is friendly and helpful! Definitely will be back! read more

My favorite Indian grocery store in town. Clean & well maintained environment with a helpful staff each & every visit. Aside from the mostly imported Indian spices & ready to eat packaged food they also have fresh vegetables throughout the week. The prices are very reasonable here if not cheap. More verity than the other 2 grocery stores in town. Been coming here now for over 3 years even though it's further from my home. Located off 6 mile cypress, closer to Colonial. read more

Fort Myers, FL: This store hits everything you could possibly need in a local South Asian grocery store: (1) a great variety of items, (2) good pricing; (3) a clean AND organized store; and (4) personable staff (Max was the man who helped me out). For only $9.50 I was able to get two ready made meals, four packs of cookies, and one pack of frozen naan. While I ultimately was unimpressed with the naan and the ready made meals, that's not the fault of this store. After all, store was selling the meals BOGO, making them super cheap. The cookies were also extremely well priced - three packs for $0.99. I was also impressed by the variety of spices, rice, and flour at this location. Even more impressive was how organized the store is, something that isn't seen at every Indian enterprise. There is no question I'll be back; it's just a matter of how quickly I get through these cookies! read more

We absolutely love Indian food. Found houses places to be good choice for us. Multiple selection of lentils. Very helpful staff. The store has everything you want and then some. And the store was very clean. The fresh produce was amazing. I was too busy shopping and looking around at all my options that I didn't take any pictures. But I will the next time. This will be my go to place for all my lentils and Indian spices needs. It is a drive for me, but well worth the trip. read more

This was a treat to check out. It has a very friendly and helpful staff. They carry a lot more than Indian cuisine. They offer reasonably priced healthy herbs in capsules and know what each one is for. Their produce is fresh and appealing. Excellent Indian/Asian grocery and general store in the old-fashioned sense. If you need unusual household appliances that are normally available in other parts of the world, this is a GREAT find. Clean, well-lit, with aisles wide enough to pass cart-to-cart, this place smells wonderful due to the great array of spices and incenses and soaps and so forth! It's great that they have opened up here, I had no idea there was a large enough Indian community at that end of Colonial to support this kind of market, but it's a find. The address listed is a little non-descriptive -- it's just down Six Mile Cypress from the Walmart/Lowe's/Publix nexus at the junction of Ortiz/Six Mile Cypress with Colonial. That nexus is just SW of the I-75 Colonial exit, so this is a very conveniently located market for anyone traveling along I-75 past the Colonial Blvd exit. Friendly owner/staff too. I was in the midst of other errands so I could only get items that would survive a couple of hours in the car... but I'm coming back to check out the refrigerated/frozen stock! read more
