Granted, we rolled in mid-afternoon and the evening crowd hadn't yet shown up (but they will), we were surprised to find a delightful Mexican restaurant that ranks up there with some of the best we've ever been to. And we've been to a lot! "Cindy" our hostess and wait-person showed us to our table and got us started with the chips and salsa. But the margaritas...OMG, they were great! So were the tacos and the super burrito that I ordered. This is the definition of a great, local Mexican restaurant. Full bar, super menu and I can't say enough nice things about Cindy! My girlfriend and I have been going to this spot here in Brighton for a while now. The food is amazing especially the Chicharrons! The staff is family owned so the service is always top notch and the vibe is great in the restaurant. Full bar and plenty of room for parties. BRIGHTON, COLORADO-Great place for authentic old school Mexican food. The shredded beef enchiladas are incredible. Tacos are delicious. Servers are very nice and efficient. Cool environment. Nothing like the Shredded beef enchiladas in Chicago. The huge Mexican population in Chicago do not make anything even close and have no clue what green chili is. Ate there Monday 07/07/25, husband and I ordered smothered deluxe bean burritos, just 2 total bites in for me and I knew there was something wrong there was an overwhelming sour taste VERY sour, my husband was about 1/2 way thru the burrito and agreed that there was a sour taste as he showed me that his beans were "foaming" with popping gas bubbles coming from them, the beans were not warm - neither of us could finish. We showed the manager on duty, we were not charged for anything, and we left. Tuesday 07/08/25 both of us were VERY ILL, we will not be back. I will report to the health department. Quick google search info indicated that the beans were not kept at the proper temperature and started the fermentation process. YUK. I hope that no one else got sick that day :(. read more

Good selection of veggies but absolutely no seasoning or flavor. Very disappointing. Decent sized portion but the lack of flavor negated the size. Also got the chicken taco salad. Also sub par. There was literally little to no lettuce at all. Chicken was tender but also lacked seasoning and flavor. Also a 2. The chicken fajita nachos were good though. Lots of toppings not so many chips. Had to add some salsa to make it tastier. The green salsa was also very bland, luckily the red salsa was good though. It's got a nice citrus/vinegar base that added a little bite to the nachos that they were originally lacking. Now for the star if the show... the chicken mole. The mole sauce is fantastic!! Very flavorful. Slight sweetness in a smoky and spice base. Tender chicken and the portion size is more than enough!! Saved the meal from being completely disappointing. Would definitely get the mole again! 5 stars! We also got the taco plate which was good. Couldn't really tell which taco was which but none of them were bad. Unfortunately the salsa that came with the tacos was used on the fajitas/nachos. 3... Overall we were kind of let down. There are too many similar restaurants closer to me to try them again. Returned to this restaurant after seeing Dave L review. Thinking the place has gotten better. Found out he works at the place. It hasn't gotten any better food, the atmosphere is exactly the same and the service is still just okay. However the prices have changed. It's got more expensive. Took my wife there Saturday morning because she had heard that it was good and it was ok We had some chilaquiles and a stack of pancakes and it was good but my egg that was supposed to be over easy come out crispy and the salsa that was highly recommended by our blonde friends was super flat no spyce at all the pancakes were super delish though I would recommend this place and give it 4 only because my egg was no good and the salsa flat other than that is a decent place to have food at! read more

Staying at the hotel across the street thought we'd try it since some of the reviews were really good. Food was not very good, tamales were cold in the middle...the flautas were not very good. I'm used to having options of salsas- they only have 1. The service was lacking...the very nice guy sat us at the bar and was the only one who waited on us. There was another bartender but she was focused on the regulars and doing shots with them. I'm thinking this place has the hotels around it to thank for still being in business. read more

This place is great! Blue collar Brighton CO isn't exactly a culinary hot spot, but this little Mexican restaurant is the real deal: Great food, terrific service and very clean! Portions are huge at a reasonable price, so come hungry. And the margaritas are huge & packed with flavor! The interior of the restaurant is actually split between a very nice dining room with table service, then they have a very nice sports bar on the other side of the wall. The same great staff works both sides, so it just comes down to the vibe you want when you get there. Don't let the location scare you off, either, as Spicy Tacos is tucked away in a little strip plaza off the highway, and the name is a little deceptive, as "spicy tacos" probably don't make up more that 1% of a very full menu of authentic Mexican cuisine. This place is definitely worth a stop if you want super good south-of-the-border food at a reasonable price! read more

Went here for a quick bite and had the tacos and a shredded beef quesadilla and both were very good . The ambiance is an old mexico styling including animal heads on the wall but very nicely done l. The service was great, of course it was the middle of the afternoon so it wasn't busy at all. Definitely more traditional Mexican vs Tex Mex but a tremendous variety. This place was absolutely incredible. I enjoyed myself from the second I was seated until the second I left. Long after closing. This restaurant is clearly a local favorite. It was a fifty mile round trip for me and it was still worth it. Our waitress, Daisy, was as personable and polite as a waitress could be. She brought drinks, took our orders and delivered our meals with a huge smile on her face. She was an absolute joy to be around. The menu is huge and full of wonder choices. The food was hot, fresh, well seasoned and very large portions. It is also very authentic Mexican food they clearly take pride in making and serving. This is a family owned operation and all three women on duty were sisters. They treated us like gold and we hated to leave. This place is a long way from me and I will gladly take the time to return. WATCH OUT FOR FALSE ADVERTISING! THEY ARE CHARGING MORE THAN IS LISTED ON THE MENU! No warning on the menu, no warning from the staff. Just a small print sign next to the entrance! They also have some service issues too, I went in for the fried oysters that is clearly on the menu. Nope they didn't have any! The fajitas I settled for were severely overcooked, and bland! I have been eating here for nine years, and really liked this place. However, when I ate there tonight, after an absence of about 6 months, found that the portions of the meal I always order had literally been shrunk by 50%, and the price was higher than ever. Not going back. Advice to management: raise prices if you must, but shrinking portions like that sucks, and is a terrible strategy. It just pisses people off, for no matter how much they pay, they cannot get what they used to get. That makes them go elsewhere. read more

Wow! OMG! I have no words to describe this hidden gem. Iris right across the the street from my hotel. Walked over and was blown away. Truly authentic as can be, the salsa and chips are good, but the steak quesadilla was off the chain!!! As my main course the slow roasted pork carnitas are as good as what we make at home. With blend of spices and the slow cooking was amazing. It is truly a wonderful experience. Spicy tacos to full on combination plates to seafood plates and water your little heart desires.
