Finding Dr. Pierre Gremaud at the Spinal Wellness Center has been a great joy to me. When I first saw him I was falling to my right side and losing my balance regularly, He showed me clearly and patiently how my spine was twisted. Catherine dropped sideways and spent her last 4 weeks of gestation facing mom's right side. Her birth was natural, but she was born sideways and eyebrow first. She had severe torticollis and needed a cranial band for about 6 months after she was born. She was in physical therapy and she was seeing a chiropractor 2-3 times a week for the first year of her life. We relocated and she continued her chiropractic care ~2 times per month. She hated going and was miserable, so we didn't push her. When she was about 11 months old, she was babbling and even said her first phrase ("Hi Eddie" - Eddie is our cat). When she was about a year old, we moved to California and she entered a daycare that was primarily Spanish speaking. For this reason, when she suddenly stopped talking and babbling as much, we assumed it was because she was learning a new language. After a few months, and upon moving to New York, it became clear that she was somewhat delayed in speech. Her pediatrician referred her to speech therapy and physical therapy - she qualified for both. Catherine went to see Dr. Pierre, Dr. Mark, and Cate and I was so impressed with how patient and nurturing they all were with her. They wanted to make sure she was comfortable and so they encouraged her to play and interacted with her for quite some time (ask Cate for a puppet show, it's not to be missed!) It was decided that it would be best to come back a second time for her actual adjustment so we wouldn't traumatize her. The good doctors know how to take care of children because we came back, and she laid down and let Mark adjust her (amidst some protest but not much). She immediately got up and started walking around - her legs were suddenly less splayed. She was also babbling. She babbled the whole car ride home. She even woke up at 3am and was talking to herself happily all night. A few weeks later she started saying 'shoe' and was happily dancing and learning dances to songs like head, shoulders, knees, and toes. My always happy daughter, turned quiet toddler, went back to the kid I knew before. The ABC method gave me my daughter back. Her tilt is gone, her legs are not as splayed, her in-turned foot is getting better, and her sounds and verbiage are increasing every day. I just entered my 20s, and unfortunately, I've experienced neck and hip pain since for over 5 years. I was unfamiliar and skeptical of chiropractic care and was hesitant to try it out. This past summer, my pain worsened, and I had a hard time sitting down at a desk because of the effort it took for me to sit up straight. I tried out PT and consulted with my primary care physician, but nothing really worked. Sure, there needs to be more, consistent adjustments for me to feel 100% pain-free, but I see that my posture is so much straighter and "natural" -- nothing's forced anymore. People have been commenting on my good posture, and I only wish every individual could get the ABC treatment to live a freer life. Spinal wellness is the fundamental basis of one's health, and I wish more people would recognize the significance of their spines! Excellent care and modality. I see Dr. Mark Scholl as needed which is usually 3 or 4 times annually if I over do it in some way. He has helped me work through old injuries over the last few years and to stay healthy and productive and pain free. If you have done chiropractic in the past, you will see a real difference with this modality which is very methodical, practical and effective. Mark has helped not only to make pain go away and posture to be corrected, but his knowledge of all things health related is a real boon. If you open up about your health issues, he is able to help with them. I highly recommend Mark and Spinal Wellness Center and their approach which has worked very well for me indeed. read more

I found SWCI after 2 1/2 months of excruciating sciatic pain and no relief from medication and a nerve block. I sobbed through my first appointment- the pain was that severe. Dr. Pierre and Dr. Mark were encouraging and empathetic, and assured me that I was not beyond help. In two weeks I have gone from being essentially immobile to being able to walk short distances and even do some exercises. If you are struggling with pain I urge you to make a call to Spinal Wellness Center of Ithaca- you will be so glad you did! read more

I wish I had discovered Dr. Pierre and Dr. Jason sooner. On my first visit, I had already been experiencing at least 4 months of lower back pain. I would wake up everyday feeling very tight, sore and achey. I love exercising, but was discovering that I could not longer weight lift or run without feeling lower back pain and tightness the very next day even while I was dramatically decreasing the intensity of my workouts to compensate for the pain. After the two weeks of seeing Dr. Pierre, I could notice a huge difference in my posture. I also could breathe better and my lower back pain decreased significantly. Unfortunately, I was only able to see him for a month due to me graduating, but will continue seeing an ABC chiropractor in NYC. I highly recommend this center, as it really did improve my quality of life. read more

Pros: I believe that Dr. Pierre's methods work, in the long term. Cons: Dr. Pierre gives you a DVD on your first visit and instead of actually following through with explaining his methods simply defers to the DVD. He makes grandiose claims with little actual evidence proving those claims. It gives off a very pseudoscience vibe. To makes matters worse I actually felt worse (significantly worse) after my first two appointments with Dr. Pierre than I did before I came in. The kicker? At first Dr. Pierre said it was a "one in a hundred case" that I felt worse after my first visit. Then I was a "one out of three hundred" case, and by the end of my second visit he was telling me "99.9 percent of my patients feel better after the first visit." This is what I came to expect out of Dr. Pierre - numbers not backed by evidence used to uphold his "excellent track record." And that is the worse part of going to Dr. Pierre - he speaks so highly of himself while not speaking well of others. For example at one point he called in one of his administrative assistants for some "help." Twenty minutes later she had not been asked to do anything other than provide the occasional affirmation to the gospel of Dr. Pierre. He speaks poorly of other chiropractors using air quotes to say that they are "well-intentioned" and even spoke poorly of another practitioner of the same methods. Dr. Pierre said that this chiropractor wasn't very good until SOMEBODY worked with him which, of course, was added to with an ego-stroking "I wonder who that was..." by his assistant. What Dr. Pierre may not realize is that in my case particularly my previous "well-intentioned" chiropractor became a friend because she is an excellent human being (unlike SOMEBODY) and that I NEVER left her office feeling worse than when I came in. I have since worked with another chiropractor who has a similar practice and have had a wonderful experience. I would definitely look elsewhere for chiropractic services. read more

I have to say that I was initially skeptical about what chiropractic care could do for me. I have lived with near constant back pain and shoulder pain for years and I thought this was 'normal' from living an active lifestyle. Even going to the gym and doing light workouts would leave my shoulders and back with pain for hours. After going to Spinal Wellness for 5 weeks I can say that I feel like a completely different person. I no longer experience the severity of pain that I once thought was normal, and running and working out are actually enjoyable experiences for me. My posture has also greatly improved, which has helped with my confidence - always crucial during recruitment season at school. If you are willing to make an investment in your health and have regular visits in the beginning, it will pay off greatly. I cannot recommend Spinal Wellness enough. read more

Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC), Drs. Pierre and Jason truly saved my life. I've had ongoing back and neck pain for 25 years and have been to at least that many chiropractors. Unlike standard chiropractic, which in my experience, has only alleviated pain as a temporary fix, ABC is a treatment that truly restructures and heals the body. When I went to Dr. Pierre at the end of 2014, I couldn't walk because of pain I had developed in my ankle and knee. I wasn't even there to address that, I was seeking treatment for the chronic pain of a car accident I had been in 2 years earlier. But after one session, my ankle and knee pain were gone and I could suddenly walk a couple of miles pain-free. Now, I no longer have debilitating neck, back and foot pain and my posture and structure have changed dramatically. Even if I'm not able to get regular care because of traveling, my body never goes back to being as bad as it was. It is totally worth the investment of time and money and making a few key lifestyle changes like with footwear. Dr. Pierre has high integrity as a practitioner and he's very committed to helping people heal. He is also a primary ABC teacher so his patients get the benefit of being treated by one of the best ABC doctors there is. Dr. Jason is great too. I am happy to work with either of them. Having the Spinal Wellness Center as a resource is one of the huge advantages of living in Ithaca for me. read more

I had no idea that there was anything wrong with my back at all. After coming to the Spinal Wellness Center I found that there was actually ALOT wrong with my body! Who knew? I wouldn't have said I was in pain before, however I feel so much more fantastic now than I have ever felt in my life! My sleep has greatly improved, as has my restless leg syndrome. I've been to many chiropractors through the years, and I have to say Dr Pierre and Dr Jason at Spinal Wellness are the best and their approach has been so helpful to my back and neck issues. They have been the first doctors to truly help my chronic neck and back pain, and I thought it was beyond hope. Because my back had been pretty "flattened out" and had lost it's natural curves due to years of poor posture and unhelpful adjustments from other chiropractors, it did take time for the improvement I began to get right away with Spinal Wellness to become more lasting, but finally, after about 6 months of weekly treatment, I am now able to go several weeks between adjustments. My back and neck feel the best they have felt in over 20 years. My spine stays aligned and I no longer have to "try" to have good posture: it just happens naturally, and the decrease in pain has been amazing. Dr. Pierre, Dr. Jason, and the whole staff at Spinal Wellness are really fantastic. I brought my teen daughter there after becoming greatly concerned about her posture and a developing "hump" on the upper part of her back. Within just a few treatments, her posture had changed, she had a deeper range of breath, she slept better, and even her attitude improved. She is a happier teen and even looks forward to going for adjustments.
