Located in the silos in the town of St. Jacob's, around the corner from the EcoCafe, Conestoga River Pottery has a lot to offer anyone walking through the door. Every shelf is filled with unique peices and collections for purchase. Its inspirational and quite lovely to bear witness to such beauty and creativity. I walked in and took my time in looking around. Found this gorgeous travel mug, a heart ornament and a small magnet made from another local artist of the landscape from BC. Where I had just visited months earlier. The young lady working was friendly. I called before going to ensure they would be open. She was talkative and upbeat. Definitely chipper compared to the other person there. Not too sure if the older gentleman was the potter/artist. He didnt seem very friendly, unfortunately. Perhaps my expectations are too high these days for people to offer a little bit more warmth. Especially with respect to this current, temporary pandemic. I understand everyone has their own ways of coping and we are all individually processing the changing times in whatever ways we can manage. When business owners are not personable, it makes me not want to be supportive. That's how I think as a patron and that's my bottom line. The mug I got is pretty awesome. It has a corked top. I encouraged some friends to visit, hopefully they'll follow through on that. And they'll have some good interactions with the shop owner.

They have a great number of one-of-a-kind gifts and neat handmade items. The store is located in the basement of another store, so you have to keep an eye out for it. The staff were really helpful and friendly, and had no problem directing me to the items I was looking for (and I'm a guy, so it's not like I know what I'm doing when I go to a place like this). Coming from Toronto, I'm spoiled with a spectacular shopping scene and the whole idea of a small town with a few chain stores kept looping around in my head. But I love my sister, and I'm not one to turn down shopping, so I obliged. King Street actually has a few neat shops, but my favourite by far was Andie's. A small, independently owned boutique, Andie's is a haven of girly dresses. Some are slightly business, some more casual and some for fancy parties...all in all they have a great selection and carry a variety of brands. If I had to describe the overall style I would say it's classy, but definitely fun. Andie's also has shirts, pants, skirts, and jewellery (although the dresses are the main focus). Decor of the store is gorgeous! Beautiful accent wall at the back, with patterned wallpaper...I'm not sure what the print is called, but I want it for my house now. Change rooms also have that boutique feel, and make you feel like a socialite. Service here is fantastic too! The sales girls are friendly, but not pushy; they're helpful, but they give you space. They also know their stuff when it comes to fashion, and it genuinely seems that they love what they do. I mentioned to my sis that one of the girls seemed particularly helpful, and she whispered to me "oh, that's Andie." That's right, the owner of the store works out on the floor and sees that everything runs smoothly. And that just gives me the warm fuzzies. Prices are a little high, but in this case you're getting every penny's worth in quality and style. My overall rating? Andie's -- it's worth the drive to Kitchener.

We had just finished up a lunch at the Crazy Canuck, which is attached to this Antique mall, and we…read moredecided to take a wander around and look at the booths. This place is great. It's a pretty large building, with a lot of booths of antiques, each with their own little specialties. We saw a dazzling array of things, everything from comic books to estate jewelry, to vintage oil cans. Lots of furniture on display. Some hand crafts, but not too many, mostly Mennonite quilts. I could have probably spent an entire day in this place, and there were times when Lee was poring over some of the booths as well. There's a central area for payment, and people there were nice and friendly. It was like going through a little museum in a way. I'd definitely give this place a visit if you're eating lunch or dinner here.
