Got a nail infection from this place- I got my nails done here twice in a row after moving to the neighborhood and after a removal (at this same place) I found that a number of my nails had major discoloration & I now have to go to the doctor to make sure I can treat it properly. This has never happened to me before & I have found through research that this happens due to unsanitary equipment & practice by nail techs. I wish I checked reviews before so that I know others had this type of experience & avoid this whole situation. If I could give less than one star I would.... I went here to get my. Previous acrylic Nails removed and I'm not sure what lady did my nails because I never got a name but she picked at my nails and made 3 nails out of 5 bleed. I asked her to change her method and to soak my nails instead of just cut away and shove a tool through my nail. And she blamed me for having "too" thin nails. They give you a pre made ice water made from putting some water in the bottom of a plastic cup and freezing it for ice. Then they fill it up with water and an orange sliver. The woman that did my pedicure hurt me and was rough and didn't listen to me when I told her that it hurt. She just said, "Sorry it hurts" and kept on going. I have cuts on my toes from her. This past Sunday I decided I'd spoil myself and get a manicure and pedicure. I decided to go to my normal "go to" nail salon as I've been an off and on customer of theirs for almost 5 years and have never had a problem. There was the normal pick the service you want from the card and the pressure from the girls trying to sell you something more expensive.... I'm used to that happening every time, so not surprised, though a little annoyed. I had brought in my own nail polish as well (more on that in a minute). Now for the reason I will NEVER go back. Whilst doing my pedicure, the girl was using a pumice stone and literally grated the skin off the outside of my left toe from pushing too hard! She did not say a word, much less apologize! She just rested my foot on the basin and walked away. I looked at it as she was walking away and the skin was sticking straight off of it and I was bleeding. In fact over the past 2 days I've bled through 4 baindaids! (I know for a FACT that I did not have a callous where I was skinned. I NEVER get callous' there and in fact the day before I had used a ped-egg on my feet so I didn't have any rough skin that needed to be grated off anyway). The other girl doing my fingernails said that I have thin skin.... Excuse my french, but that's bull sh*t! I looked at her and said, "Um, no, I think she was pushing too hard!" When she returned from wherever, she took a cotton ball and soaked it with some blue solution which she called "bleach" and placed it on my toe which really frikin hurt! and then continued on with the treatment. I had opted for the slightly more expensive massage package with the hot stone which practically never touched my legs. My leg mucsles were aching and that was the main reason I decided to get the pedicure - to have someone rub my feet and legs.... with a hot stone. Sadly I did NOT get what I paid for... And now in hindsight, I'm a little embarrassed to admit, but they did not offer me a discount and I was too in shock (or too much of a push-over to demand a discount). So I paid almost $60 for a manicure and pedicure and left with my toe bleeding through the bandaid and staining the little slipper thing they give you to walk out of the store with. (see pictures above) Oh, and they still have my $7 nail polish that I brought in with me. I called and they have it at the front desk, but I don't know if I want it back. I don't think I can trust that no one else has used it.... Oh, and I'm not sure if the girl threw out the pumice that she used to scrape my skin off, which also had my blood all over it... I LOVE THIS PLACE! I have been going for over two years and I couldn't be happier! Is it perfect in every way? No. But, show me a salon that is. Overall, what makes me happy is that I definitely get what I pay for. I get the #2 pedicure, and as a victim of a bad pedicure over 15 years ago, I have chronic ingrown toenails. My two favorite ladies-- Vivian and Rosie-- show my bad toes so much tender love and care, keeping them clean and pain free. My biggest addiction however, is gel polish (set in UV light-they last me 4-6 weeks!!!). I get French and a cuticle clean up for a base price of 25 bux. (15 for gel +5 for french (the French looks better as it grows out) +5 for cuticle clean up) I usually pay more because I get extravagant designs. ROSIE IS THE BOMB FOR DESIGNS! So much talent!!! And she is a perfectionist! Vivian is a sweetheart and i go to her for everything but designs. The place is super clean, and as soon as you are established as a regular customer-- I go once a month-- they learn your likes and dislikes and make you feel very comfortable. I get that customer service shouldn't depend on how often you go, but it's not a bad trade off. AND, most of the ladies have amazing customer service even for first time customers. This isn't my usual nail place but I came here because my friend was familiar with their eyebrow waxing. I wanted to get a pedicure and a set with one of my guy friends who just wanted a manicure and an eyebrow waxing. I had called to set up an appointment the morning before but they seemed so confused when I walked in. My appointment was for when they opened at 9. The pedicure I got was nice except the girl massaged my legs so hard I started to shake, but I didn't say anything since I feel that the massage was probably helping the blood flow in my legs. It's always funny because I don't make it obvious to the ladies at the salon that I'm Vietnamese so I kinda just let them talk and I just listen. The lady who did my toes was so interested in my eyeliner... Probably because it was so thick. But anyways, overall the pedicure was a good experience. They started the fingernail process while I was getting my toes done. I had showed a simple nail design but she kept trying to push having glitter nails on me. My nails turned out fine but I just wish that the designs were cleaned up better. It was a simple red French tip with a black line underneath it but the rest of the fingernail was to be painted a nude color. The black line was a little crooked and you could see the strokes/lines in the nude polish. I understand that they are trying to do their job but I don't like how they try to get you to get more things than you're asking. They complained that my cuticles or something was dry or crooked and that they could fix it for this much more. If you aren't persistent in saying no, you'll end up paying $100 for a simple mani and pedi. My friend enjoyed the experience of getting his nails done but the clear coat they put on him ended up chipping off the next day. That was a big disappointment. He was very happy with his eyebrows though. They were cleaned up really nice. read more

I have been coming to splendor since December of 2009. I have gone through ups and downs with this place depending on the person you get, but even my worst experiences here weren't even that bad. For the past few months I have been coming here consistently and am very pleased. The two people I highly recommend are the following: Hannah (manicure & wax) and My (pedicure). Both of these ladies are extremely patient and will do whatever you ask and even recommend other, potentially better options. My entire family comes here and we are pleased probably 90% of the time, but like I said we are pretty particular people. The one down side is they only take CASH for TIPS. It pains me to give a bad review and leave this nail salon for good but I have no choice. My most recent visit turned out to be disastrous for both my mom and I. I went for a normal pedicure like I've done so for the past 3+ years but this one caused me to have pain for a week and counting. After carefully examining my big toes I realized they were cut/shaped in a manner that resulted in 2 ingrown nails. Even the most basic things such as walking cause me to feel pain....super aggravating! My mom had it worse. TMI....she too began to feel pain in one of her big toes and after careful inspection found bloody pus coming out of a cut she received while getting her pedicure. Gross, GROSS!!!!! She was rough, didn't pay attention to detail so when I mentioned something about a couple nails being bumpy, she got rougher. Which is ridiculous. I work In the service industry and you can't do that, it's noticeable! So I didn't say anything about the rest of the things that I don't like( because I didn't want anymore cuts) like not polishing all the way down the nail or filing the side of nails where the natural nail is. Just those minor details makes a HUGE difference. And charging for Coffin shape when they were already coffin??? You ALWAYS tell the client before doing a service you charge for. At the suggestion of my hair stylist, I took my daughter here on her 13th birthday for a pedicure. I was really impressed! The store is well lit (with one solid wall of windows) and clean. The staff are friendly. Without an appointment on a Saturday afternoon, we got no grief for showing up and asking to sit together. The shop has "menus" that tell you what sorts of pedicures you can get, what's included, and how much it costs. My daughter got a basic one that included a hot stone massage on her legs, I got one with the callus treatment (which also has the hot stone massage). My daughter wanted an "american" pedicure (like French, but with colour instead of white nail tips), and I let her splurge on nail art too - which I then ended up doing too since my girlie-girl wanted Mom's nails to match (hey, it was her birthday and I wanted to spoil her!) It was expensive, but the callus treatment was excellent (my feet feel so nice!), we were in the chairs well over an hour what with my salt scrub, the massages, the pedicure activities, and then the nailpolish bits - and we were not rushed out before our toes had time to dry which is always a plus 'coz I'm just naturally prone to screw up nailpolish 'fore it's totally dry. read more

I have continued to go to Splendor Nails since I wrote that review. I found a great nail lady that I liked there and was very happy with her work. Their pedicures are also the bomb! But, I was shocked to show up today to find my lady had suddenly left. She had previously mentioned dissatisfaction with a new policy of the salon. If you are a current client and walk in without an appointment, you are not allowed to ask for your regular person. Even if they are just sitting there with no appointments and doing nothing, you cannot ask to see them for your service. WHAT? Why? As a customer, this makes no sense to me at all! In fact, it's stupid! I almost never call and make appointments because it's easier for me to just show up and take my chances. If my lady is free and I show up, why can't I have her do me? I am NOT a walk-in. I am a current client without an appointment. What difference does that make? I can always take my business elsewhere.
