Due to the 6 month waiting period, there was no retroactive payment due to my husband and nothing due to Midwest Disablity. In January 2024, my husband was diagnosed with ALS, a terminal illness. Our Care team at the ALS clinic advised us we would be eligible for medicare and the 6 month waiting period for disability pay would be waived. Midwest Disablity had NOTHING to do with our contacting SSDI and fighting with them for the next 3 months to get the waiting period waived. After several phone calls and letters that WE made ourselves, we were awarded payment retroactive to November 2023. Midwest Disablity collected on our retroactive pay, over $2500.00 that they did absolutely nothing to earn. They will not assist with our appeal to SSDI nor will they return any of the multiple phone calls made to their office.
