The entrance is so fun and charming. I love how 50s hula music is playing while you enter the bar. The hula girl wallpaper in the bathroom also plays well into the theme. One of my friends was six months pregnant at the time and found the mocktail selection to be really good. We were quite full from dinner but didn't mind the snack offerings. I explained I'm gluten intolerant, and the bartender went through the snack pairings I could have. My drink (Speaky Tiki Old Fashioned) came with the rice, and it was so, so good. We actually plan on coming back this weekend, and I'm salivating at the thought of the crispy rice. Don't skip out on this place! It's one of the best speakeasies I've been to.

The music doesn't blare through the speakers and there's usually room to roam around even on a busy Friday night. If I ever feel like stepping away from the main crowd to recharge my social battery, I can turn to the many free games including connect four, shuffleboard, and pool. Alternatively, during my most recent visit on a Monday night, I can sit down on a comfortable sofa and watch some football with my buddies. Their happy hour runs from 4-8pm everyday. In addition, their weekly specials offer a discount on a different alcohol every day of the week (usually 8-11pm with some exceptions). I usually opt for the lemon drop or a green tea shot but the tiki wheat is a popular option if you're a beer person. I'd choose here over a club in Galveston 9 times out of 10. Market Station is a great place to visit if you're looking for a night out and want to easily socialize with others.

After being told they were out of espresso by the red headed bartender, I went a couple chairs down to the other bartender on duty who happily made me more espresso martinis. That's not just bad service -- that's lying to a regular customer for no reason. It was lazy, petty, and extremely unprofessional. If she can't be bothered to do her job, maybe she shouldn't be behind the bar. Management needs to take a hard look at who they have representing their business, because one arrogant bartender shouldn't be allowed to wreck the reputation of an otherwise great place. But that's a very good sign and even though we dispaired finding seating for three hungry people, the back room was opened up for the overflow crowd that I'm not sure they expected. While waiting, we had some excellent draft beer. If you find that you're craving something more exciting than the usual suspects, this is one of the great Galveston places to be. Sure there's Bud and Bud Light to be had, but DON'T. Give your taste BUDS a thrill and get a brew from their generous list of suds. It was a wait for the crawfish, but patience is a virtue that definitely paid off for us. This was Vudoo Viet-Cajun rather than traditional, and I think it was the perfect first choice for the season - with just enough spice, just enough citrus, and decently sized mud bugs, our three pounds practically put us in a swoon. Beerfoot serves crawfish at 2:00 on Sundays throughout the season, excluding Mother's day, and my advice is to get there around 1:00, find your table, get a beer, and prepare for some very good eats!

There are 3 or 4 other bars that make up this place. We like coming to Rum Shack because its the best place to see the ocean and get a nice breeze going through. They also have a small little fire pit going on in the bar which is nice as that Sea Breeze can be quite chilly. Drinks are about average for the area about $11. I had the Mojito this time around because those large fish bowl drinks usually will lay me out. I rated this a 4 because I ordered the Shrimp Po boy and wanted Mayo instead of the spicy sauce but got a plain po boy. I'm not one to argue and figured on a Saturday that the waiter was already going through it and it wasn't even night time yet. The downside of this place is that parking will raise your blood pressure and you will actually need a drink after dealing with finding parking. Don't even bother parking next to the restaurant, your better off going to that parking garage thats so narrow your anxiety kicks in as the soccer mom in her giant suburban flies out of the parking spot on the ramp and then proceeds to have a hard time getting by you without almost hitting you. At least the parking is validated.... I usually try to hit it up a few times a year and hope to be back after tourist season.

At no time was I told that I was cut off before this, but with the biggest smile on his face Ozzy says, " you can't have that, you're being aggressive. Do you want a glass of water or should I get a manager?" I said, "nah, that's fine I don't want you to spit in it" but my wife asked for a manager Tyler came and explained that they "can't have tables moved because they can cause a fire hazard and people in the corner can't get out" and I wasn't being served because I was " being aggressive and it could mean I was previously intoxicated" despite having to go through a bouncer and being carded. The 6 top next to us was leaving at this point And we asked Tyler, tthey we're all sitting here in the corner, can we do the same? We were told it was still a hazardous but he'd let us. And my wife asked if I could order a drink, to which she was told, " he seems to not be intoxicated, so it will be ok" I refused to be served anything after that, my family orderd some food and drinks and they seemed to enjoy it. But for me the night was spoiled. The bartender had to serve us because Ozzy was feeling "concerned" but she spentost of her free time texting and not really serving us. Before we left we saw Ozzy sit another 5 top. When my aunt asked him he said "yup, and they hit the magic number!
