Wednesday nights are reserved for the tuition of Fiddle at many different levels and in different regional styles. Also on a Wednesday there are classes in Cello. The classes are taught in a workshop style usually set at three different levels: complete beginner, intermediate and advanced. So there really is a place for everyone. Tutors include: Lori Watson (Rule of Three), Anna Massie (Anna Massie Band, Kate Rusby Band), Mairearad Green (Anna Massie Band, The Poozies), Findlay Napier (Findlay Napier and the Bar Room Mountaineers), Marc Duff (ex-Caperceillidh), Ruairidh MacMillan (2009 Young Scottish Musician of the Year) and a whole host of other amazing teachers. The nursery hours are 8am - 6pm, with an extra charge being incurred for late pickups. Charges are in line with other nurseries and childminders in the area, although seem to increase at a higher rate than is fair. Additional fundraising events took place over the year, which I objected to since fees were already high enough. The nursery itself is a converted house on Wellshot Drive in Cambuslang, just yards from the main doctors surgery. The staff are friendly and seem to get on well with the children. The premises are reasonably clean and secure from people just wandering in. There are a wide variety of activities for the children and regular outings. Sounds ideal! Our problems started with outings in the local area that I was not informed of. All of the children would go for a day out to the soft play or local park and the parents wouldn't know where they were, which can be a problem if you have a family emergency and need to pick up your child before time. The second problem I had with this nursery is that they sometimes didn't change dirty nappies in a timely manner, leaving my little one with a very sore bottom. Also, on one occasion my son was left with a 16 year old work experience girl with no supervision. Finally, and really the straw that broke my back, was that despite being yards from the doctors surgery and assurances that if there was an emergency they would take the child directly to the surgery, they failed to do so and failed to contact me when my son awoke from a nap with blue fingers and lips, stating that they didn't feel this was anything to worry about. Ironically, on the day he was due to leave the nursery I was called to come and get him because he had a loose stool! This nursery is now under new management and may be better managed nowI hope it isbut for the reasons stated I couldn't recommend it. I've given it two stars because I believe the staff are committed and the care is reasonable when there are no complications. I think management were to blame and there is now new management.

I found the Hawthorn Walk branch to be ideal, all of the staff are well mannered and well spoken, and my son still asks for one of his carers from there after leaving 3 months ago. The children had busy days, playing inside and out, had regular "messy time" and went for walks around the area. They also taught the children about brushing their teeth, and my son made some firm friends. The toys here are lovely wooden and high quality, and the babies and tweenies are in one big room together although they are kept separated by a knee high fence. Each keyworker was allocated 3 toddlers, and there were always the right amount of staff per children no matter what time of day I dropped in to pick my wee one up. The only critisism I might have is that the development booklet at the end of my sons time here seemed to have been completed to tick a box, and photos had been taken to illustrate developmental milestones etc, even although they didn't actually relate to the photos. Also my son had lots of good photos taken during his time there, and I didn't get a copy of any despite asking. I've not been quite so impressed with the Wellshot Drive Nursery, but since my son hasn't been there very long I don't think it fair to comment yet, and maybe it's not bad just different.

This privately run nursery offers care from 2years old in this building, but have another for…read morebabies and under 2's in another part of the city.The staff here are all very friendly and skilled and kids are offered a load of different activities both in the nursery and on field trips- sometimes to nearby queens park, sometimes further away.Children play together most of the time but are put in age groups forcetain activities.Parents are reuired to supply all meals and snacks the hours available are 8-6 mon -fri, which is strictly adhered to, if late to collect there are late charges imposed. Easily accessible by car,train ( 9 mins to town from nearby station) and bus ( every 2-3 mins from nearby main road)

This is an absoloutely gorgeous place. We went here recently for a function (ooo how grown up its…read morea function not a party :P) and it was absoloutely brilliant. Ill start with the decor, downstairs is a we shop like the kind you find in a museum which handily enough leads on to the museum of piping. We then go upstairs to a lovely hallway with blue illuminated stain glass windows and through into a large hall complete with tables, fantastic refurbished pillars, gorgeous ceiling designs and of course a stage and dance floor!! We also were treated to a buffet and this was fantastic from the ciabatta rolls stuffed with salad and meaty delights, to the chicken pieces and skewers and down to the cheese board the presentation and taste was fantastic! The only reason this place didnt get a 5 is its my first visit and that the heating was turned up to devil level with no apparent way to control it for the room full of people and that the bar prices were quite steep. But these aside the staff are wonderfully pleasent and welcoming and it will probably get a 5 if i return. Definetely a great place for a small wedding reception, birthday party or any other event that takes your fancy!!

Tucked into this building is the National Piping Center complete with a museum of bagpipes. It's…read moresmall but worth a look if you are curious about bagpipes. There's a little shop which is actually kind of a gift shop but actually kinda a piping shop. They have a host of stuff here including practice chanters and instructional books. The selection is small but a well curated set of two makers McCallum and R. G. Hardie. I bought a Hardie blackwood practice chanter and a book to take back to the States and annoy my neighbors. That said, it's an amazing instrument in its own right, even without the full set of pipes. The folks are friendly and not too knowledgeable on the instruments but twice a week they have a piper in the shop and she answered all my questions. Pretty cool.

This big old building is over 100 years old and sits pride of place in the heart of Dennistoun…read more "The Parade", as it's known locally, is a lovely little school that hasn't given in to modern day refurbishment and has kept its unique charm after all these years. One of the local primary schools, it is very popular, with a good reputation and places for pupils here are highly sought after. As with many schools, the janitor lives on site in the old original "janny's hoose" and adds to this place's original features and charm. The only thing that confuses me is that the front of the building has the words "PVBLIC SCHOOL" engraved into it, which may simply be old style writing or the work of some cheeky prankster all those years ago.

Great little dance studio that is tucked away off duke street. It is in a small industrial estate…read moreand the shutters are always done but you enter from the small door at the front. Inside the studio is well set out with a cloakroom toilets and main desk just as you come in. The sound system is fab as are the disco lights. There is a wide range of classes on offer for children and teenagers as well as adult classes. Dont let the location put you off ... its a great little place!
