I thought it was a lovely intimate space, and the art deco heritage is very apparent (it was built for the 1928 Olympics). Also, the current usage, with lots of sports-related stores located in the lower levels is a most clever usage of space. There's a whole bunch of great sporting statues all around the stadium and the weekend I arrived, the stadium was actually being used for the Amsterdam Triathalon event. One thing I would suggest, is actually when you come out, walk towards the right as there is this cool bridge over the canal, leading up to the Olympic stadium if you are coming from the Amsteelveen station and it has these carvings reminiscent of ancient Greek statues, but in an Art Deco style, which are so terribly beautiful. My one gripe, which I expected because I've been to Amsterdam before, is the 4 euro membership charge for concerts. I'm sure it's well known among locals but beware that your ticket price will not be the only charge. The inside of this venue is beautiful. We were there to see Kevin Devine. He was playing in the smaller room upstairs. They had a full bar and a very intimate feel. Sound and lighting was great. Always an awesome time when I get to see KD.

No need to take your own skates... you can rent them here... for just an apre shopping sport activity :) It is open from 10 in the morning until 11 in the evening and on Saturday and Sunday until midnight.. of course with Dutch folk music and Christmas ones.... you might find a Santa Claus skating if you are lucky!! Not expensive at all, totally worth it ... and yes.. it gets crowded in the weekend during the evening. You can train and get ready for the real deal when (if) the canals freeze!!

But, if you enjoy a more intimate setting which is in the heart of the city's 'entertainment area' and is generally frequented by serious movie-goers, you will absolutely love Pathe City. They recently renovated the downstairs area with some seating and a coffee bar, which is great if you arrive earlier for a movie. Speaking of which, Pathe City shares the building with Little Buddha and a casino next door, meaning you don't even have to leave the building to skip over to those spots. There are a LOT of steps as already mentioned. Seating is nicer than the theater at Muntplein, with cup holders on armrests instead of below the seat in front (I never understood that weird concept anyway). Since it's next to Little Buddha, if you watch a movie on a late weekend night and happen to be at the wrong theater, you might hear some background music. Depending on the movie, it might not be all that bad. One time, they offered to refund ticket money to anyone who was getting bothered by the music. My only gripe with Pathe City is that it seems to only screen the more tasteful movies, which is good if you are trying to get into a show of 'Safe Haven', but not if you fancy the latest in the 'Hangover' series. I guess it's part of their plan to target a certain demographic.

However, I do hope to use this ice rink on a regular base, so I can improve my ice skating skills. Ice skating at the Museumplein is one thing you can add to your list for things to do in Amsterdam. From December to February the public rink is available, skating is the best way to make the most of the winter here. Head to skate if you have your own ice skates or rent a pair for a small fee. You will see a number of locals and visitors enjoying the ice skating rink on Museumplein. What's so lovely about skating here is that local vendors come out and serve hot chocolate, mini Dutch pancakes, and olliebollen ( doughnuts).

We got to see four fraud themed movies that day. Some theater rooms were small and these rooms probably can accommodate 50 people. But, room #1 was huge and this room also had booth section seating. The basement area had the coat check and restrooms. I think this movie theater has other events throughout the year besides being a regular movie theater for most of part. The location for the Pathé is great and it's accessible by metro and tram.
