Caribbean Rollerama was the venue for about ten birthday parties I attended growing up and man,…read morethey were fun. The staff who hold the parties are really good at putting together fun times for the kids - who knew rollerskating to 'the chicken dance' could be so much fun?! My sister also had a party hosted there and it was great. They have function rooms out the back and they are super comfortable. Like the walls of the skating ring, most benches and seats in this place are covered in carpet so bottoms sore from falls on the ring have somewhere soft to sit - it's a really smart touch. There is a little cafe that sells junk food and hot dogs but it is quite overpriced so I'd think about bringing your own pre-made food. They also have a games area here, which is off to the right. Some games cost money and some don't. The music here is quite varied and they often have theme nights. I like going on the 90's nights because everyone gets really into it and that was the time when I first started going to Rollerama. It has a lot of history and a lot of character and it's a really fun place to go. Skate hire is only about $3 and entry is something like $7 for adults.

There's a café at the entrance that sells a variety of focaccias, salads, lasagna and pies. It's floor to ceiling windows overlook the wave pool, keeping a peaceful (and dry) atmosphere, without losing the feeling of being at the pool. There's also a little canteen inside the pool area that sells your regular fried food, lollies and ice creams. The center also has a gym upstairs (addition costs), two family change rooms, spa & sauna (additional cost), a warm wading pool, wave pool, kids pool, baby pool and outdoor pool. It also offers excellent disability services. Personally I try to only come during the morning, because the afternoon holds a lot of kids classes which take up all lanes except one (which makes it very difficult and squishy for the casuals like me). I also prefer the morning because well...its probably in my mind, but I swear the water is yellower and saltier the later it is in the day. I mean the water isn't crystal clear to begin with (so much chlorine you can only see 5-10m in front of you), but at least it's not murky...yet. If you're grossed out, the outdoor 50m pool has lovely water and you can see over 20m in front of you, but the hours are limited throughout the winter months. I still enjoy coming here, as it feels big and modern, and doesn't have that stuffy feeling that most little places have.

Being a nurse, I feel more confident now getting to and from my car after a night shift and dealing with aggressive and difficult people. I feel more coordinated and capable generally and my flexibility and fitness improved. Mr Tas has a fantastic teaching style that he adapts to suit each individual student. He knows when to push you to succeed and is incredibly encouraging. It's great training with other women, but also with men so that you could deal with a real life situation outside the Dojo. I highly recommend Personal Self Defence for children and adults - it will improve your confidence and skill level and is a great place to meet new people.

I attended a conference upstairs at the Country Club and upon arrival there was plenty of parking…read moreavailable and the staff greeted me with a smile. I didn't sign in as I went straight up the stairs to the conference room. It was a cozy space nothing too fancy but the best part was when morning tea was served. The chocolate croissants MELTED. It was delicious! I looked on the website and you can get a club membership (access to sporting facilities, bar and members area) for $44 a year. I have heard from colleagues the food is good and there are night lights for the tennis courts. I will be checking this place out more for proper food next time!

There is no shortage of food, and deserts. Soups, beef, pork (sometimes crackling), curry chicken, whiting fish-bites, roast veggies, un-shelled prawns, mussels, salads, meat balls and an array of sauces is the menu Deserts comprise of cakes, lemon meringue, chocolate mousse and cream All in all, a good environment to guts yourself that is definitely worth the $$$ If you don't have kids, ask to sit at the back away from the playground when you book.
