STAY AWAY!!!…read more We were 1 of 3 groups who had an event at Association Montreal Beach on the same day, and, like the other 2 (one of the groups we know well), an event that was supposed to be a relaxing time to celebrate a special occasion was instead a chaotic mess. I waited to write this review until we spoke to someone today, the day after the "event", but after getting a response that was full of excuses and defensiveness but void of any semblance of responsibility, compassion, and understanding, I'm not holding off any longer. The Yelp community needs to know about this experience. We arrived to find a SINGLE staff member on site, the bartender, busy pouring beer for the crowd enjoying the nice weather on the deck of the adjoining pub (and counting his tips from those sales), he wasn't even the slightest bit interested in managing the parties that had booked space in the facility. It's not his fault he was the only one there, but it is his fault that he paid us NO attention. One person is not enough to take care of the pub customers AND 3 events involving over 100 people, especially when that person either has no idea what the plan is or, dare I say, there was no plan to begin with. Our party would never have happened if I did not step up to insist that the staff member do SOMETHING or for the cooperation of one of the other rental groups in moving to make space for us to set ourselves up; no thanks to the staff member on site. Obviously, the space that we had to virtually beg for was not cleaned or tidied up for our arrival, because, well, the other group vacated just for us. An animator that was supposed to be present was not there, despite being paid for in advance, and we spent so long arranging the logistics, time which took away from our enjoyment of our own event - the only reason we booked a facility in the first place. Aside from the "party room" area, the fees we paid were specifically for sole use of one "court" but when we got there, there were none available. 2 were being used for beach volleyball games, 1 was being used by the other birthday party, and 1 was being used by the VERY large group of people who generously made space to accommodate us in the party room. But their kids were much bigger (and wilder) than the kids in our group, and we wanted a space that was just for us - A SPACE THAT WE PAID FOR!!! After a while of being ignored, I bothered the guy at the bar enough to make him understand that he needed to act. After supplied proof that there was no dedicated court for us, he said the volleyball players shouldn't be there". And stopped. So??? Are you going to do something? He told me to tell them to get off the court. Me???? No. That's not my job. Not my responsibility. What???? In what universe is it okay to ask a rental group who PAID to go and do the work of a facility employee??? None. Never. I will spare Yelpers the minute details of this experience (this review is long enough, no?), but suffice it to say that Association Montreal Beach had no problems organizing themselves to collect our payment but when it came time to providing the service, they were nowhere to be found. Today, the OWNER (what????) told us that if we weren't happy with how things started, we should have just left. What??? Leave with 12 children, their parents, our family members, who just drove through traffic to get to a party? Ridiculous! Just making that suggestion reeks of complete carelessness for the problems that she caused. Zero acknowlegment of how they completely dropped the ball on our event. None whatsoever. Apparently, one of the staff who were hired and didn't show up "broke her hip"... Where's the manager? The owner? Any other staff? The animator that was paid for?? It's hilarious to think that the OWNER believes that that would have solved all of the problems. Not even close. Over the 2 hours of the event, NO OTHER STAFF SHOWED UP TO SUPPORT. No one cared enough to come make it right, or even make an appearance. And to top it all off, we found a screw in the sand when one of our guests stepped on it . DANGEROUS! Photo attached. All this to say that we STRONGLY discourage any group from planning a party or event in this facility. Association Montreal Beach only cares about your payment. After that, you're invisible. There you have it, folks. Right from the top - they'll take your money and then wash their hands of your event. Pathetic. STAY AWAY. FAR, FAR, AWAY.

Nothing unique at all as I thought an indoor sand box was such a great idea, now it's dead. ----- This is SO needed from November through April and then on rainy days during the spring and summer! It's right next to the canal so walk all the way down and you'll find the entrance which reads as "Pub McCardell" as the entrance leads to a cafe/bar next to the outside terasse. Once you walk through the cafe, you'll see a giant gym filled with sand. Perfect for volleyball and other sand sports. I went for the 10am-12pm Sunday morning kids play. It's $6 per child and they don't charge for adults. There are toys, balls, frisbees there so no need to bring your own. What's not to love about this and for the price it can't be beat! I can imagine how awesome it gets to sit on the terrasse in the summer. They also have live music certain nights. I also enjoyed the music. Bonus: Free parking

we set out to hike parc du mont royal, one of montreal's most iconic green spaces and a beloved…read moreescape from the city. designed in the 1870s by landscape architect frederick law olmsted, who also designed new york's central park, the park covers a large portion of mount royal and offers walking trails, viewpoints, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature right in the heart of montreal. thinking it would be a straightforward hour and five minute trek, we quickly learned that our timeline was a little optimistic. naturally, the hike turned into a much longer adventure with plenty of pit stops along the way. before tackling the climb, we wandered through the area, stopping at mngo, decathlon, a k-beauty store, and even a museum before finally making our way up the mountain. by the time we started the hike, we had already turned it into a full day of exploring. the trail itself was well maintained, with a mix of shaded pathways and plenty of stairs to keep things interesting. the overcast sky made the climb much more manageable, although it was still quite the workout. between the greenery, the incline, and the steady stream of steps, there were definitely moments when the beads of sweat and the sunscreen threatening to run into my eye, reminded me that this was more than just a casual stroll. the grounds were clean and well cared for, with shaded sections that offered welcome breaks along the way. after the climb, we were rewarded with a panoramic view of montreal from the belvédère lookout, where the city skyline stretches out below. it's one of those views that makes you forget about tired legs for a moment. on the way down, we stumbled across the towering cross, one of mont royal's most recognizable landmarks, and decided to take a quieter, less travelled path. the change of scenery was worth it, and we even spotted a little chipmunk along the way, a perfect reminder that we were surrounded by nature despite being right in the middle of the city. with fresh air, lush greenery, and just enough challenge to feel accomplished, the hike up parc du mont royal was a memorable part of our montreal adventure. just remember to bring water, sunscreen, and be prepared for a few more steps than you might expect.

Montreal's Central Park The View…read more I've visited twice. Once at night for the city light view from the Chalet terrace about a decade ago. This time (2026) for the day views and visits to the Cross and to the Lake. When I came about 10 years ago at night time, the crowd was much lighter and chill. Also, I saw an owl sitting on the tree along the walking path! Today's visit on a late summer holiday weekday, it was super crowded with locals, cyclists going up the Mont, joggers and tourists. Parking was tight as were trails to 3 major sites on Mont Royal. The Cross was rather disappointing as the trail was a gravelly loop apx 1.6km without a reward vista. Also the hiking trails of the main road were riddled with poison ivy :/. The Chalet was open (unlike my earlier night visit)! Inside were a coffee shop, a gift shop, bathrooms and a big room with a lodge style ceiling. The viewing terrace was super packed with people though everyone was accommodating with photo opportunities. The view was nice with the buildings and bridges. Drastically different than the sparkling lights at night! Tried to go to the Lake but couldn't get a paid parking spot. And after 3 loops, I passed after hearing it's rather dirty with some ducks. Perhaps bc it was a holiday weekend, this Labor Day, Monday was crowded and the cyclists moved faster than cars. I would NOT repeat the day visit unless it's for exercises. The Cross IMO isn't worth it and the Lake parking is too much of a bother. The night views of Montreal from the Chalet terrace on a clear night beats everything I've experienced today.
