The prices used to be better, I do think they have got a little expensive of late, with less sales on, but the range of skater/casual/smart shoes is good so you can get ones for every occasion. The staff are everywhere and always on hand to help and get you the ones you want and are quick and efficient. When you go in, you head left for ladies and right for guys!

I find the prices to be slightly higher than other shoe shops in Barratts but there is plenty of choice available. The staff seem to be thin on the ground and getting served in busy periods means you're in for a wait which is a shame but as the selection is large then I was prepared for the wait. The shop looks small from the outside, but when you walk in it looks like an aladin's cave which is impressive. They seem to have a good range of sizes and the sale prices are good when they pop up which isn't as often as I'd like unfortunately.

I feel as though they have made their range simpler and tried to pack out some areas of the shop with cheap tat instead, which would be fine somewhere like show express, but not really what i have associated with barratts. This store is alittle smaller than most, and can get quite busy at the weekends, so maybe leave it until you have a day off in the week, when you might get a little more personal service.

This is also a great shop for clothes and accessories at affordable prices. they have a 915 childrens section and a plus size section too which is great. There are generally a lot of sales rails in this store to choose from, but the general layour is divided nicely between mens, womens, teens and plus sizes. The area for shoes is usually crowded and messy which is a shame as I like their ranges. The changing rooms are spacious and the assistant will always let you take in four items at a time, but rarely do they check when you come out which is a bit of a let down for them. The queues for the till can be quite long and there isn;t much of a system when it comes to queuing so you have to guess where to join on.

Upstairs they have home/kitchen section, gorgeous soy and fragrance candles, some mixed books (including cookery), childrens toys and the big menswear section. The home/kitchen area is brilliant - if you are in castlepoint don't go to robert dyas or lakeland for kitchen stuff - i got my great quality baking trays etc from here at a fraction of the price. The menswear section is also good for buying gifts eg designer wallets, cufflinks etc in nice presented boxes. Downstairs they have womens clothes, loungewear, underwear, a huge gorgeous bag section and beauty section. It is definitely worth rummaging through the clothes as i found Sass & Bide jeans hidden away for £39.99 (usually over 150 pounds!).
