I'm surprised this place doesn't have a Yelp presence as it's a wonderful gem in Spreewald. Then again Yelp isn't used as much as Google Reviews or Hotels.com in Germany for that matter, which is how I found this place. Just 15 min away by foot from the Lubbenau train station, this place exudes charming old-timey elegance in the local style. The place is efficient and well run, accommodating of families with children, and according to other reviews appears to have been remodeled sometime around the pandemic era. The place is run by a husband/wife duo with some very cute kids - the husband is a charismatic helpful guy who speaks several languages and has had a lot of experience with 5-star hotels in the past, and the wife is around to help with check-in, cleans extensively, and helps with preparing and bussing their great breakfasts (which btw is free!). The room itself was quite romantic and very clean. The wifi is on a hidden network which they mention in the guestbook and has a strong stable signal. My favorite part was the tub which sits under a window that can be open to let out some steam during a crisp evening bath. The only complaint I might have was the pillow which was far too soft for me personally. In my opinion this is the best value in the area but be aware they're already quite popular even in the off season - I snagged the last room while booking 4 months in advance. It's a quick walk to town from there and literally 2 km from the edge of a beautiful day hike toward Lehde, so even for a short one-night trip it was worth the visit for us. I'm happy to be the first to put this place on the Yelp radar! read more
