I've visited this place a couple of times, including yesterday. If you're day drinking in the Williamsburg area, it seems like the place to be. There is a ton of seating, and a large fireplace, as well as various games like Jenga four tables to play. It tends to get really packed in here and so it was a bit chaotic, however, the music was good and not too loud. This is a beer, forward place, with cider wine, cocktails, and some nonalcoholic drinks available as well as food. I had a Mezcal cocktail yesterday as well as a glass of Pinot noir, and both were pretty underwhelming. It's not somewhere that I would voluntarily go, as a crowd is a bit on the younger side (mid 20s) and it does give a "post college" vibe, but I can see why it's popular. One of the urinals apparently had vomit in it all afternoon which tracks. Service is generally quick but you have to go up to the bar to order. Crowded and a bit rowdy. I really don't understand how an owner can continue to keep employees who are damaging the business with this kind of behavior. The bartender working on the right side of the bar on Saturday--the one with the hat, long hair, and earrings--was extremely rude and arrogant. He literally let me stand in front of him for about 20 minutes. There was nobody else waiting near me, yet he continued serving other customers while ignoring me. When I tried to get his attention, he seemed annoyed and gave me an unfriendly look. I even mentioned that I work in hospitality myself and respect people, hoping to break the ice, but he remained upset and aggressive. At one point, he slammed the register shut and walked away. When he returned, he served another customer before finally coming over to me. By then, I was ready to either speak with a manager or leave. When he finally took my order, all he said was, "What do you want?" Nothing else. This is not customer service. I noticed other reviews mentioning what I believe is the same bartender behaving in a similar way. That kind of attitude is unacceptable in the hospitality industry. Spritzenhaus is a good spot for a casual drink/bar food options in Williamsburg/Greenpoint, right by McCarren Park. It's a massive beer hall with tons of seating inside, plus a good amount of outdoor tables along the sidewalk. It's perfect for groups or just hanging out and people-watching. I visited on a Thursday for happy hour (until 7pm, $7 beers, cider, etc.) and grabbed a table outside with a friend. If you're seated outside, you order at the bar and bring out your drinks - service was quick. Inside, there's a huge bar, plenty of seating, and the vibe gets livelier later in the night with music and a fun crowd. I've been here a few times and would recommend for casual drinks, catching up with friends, or a group outing. read more

I read some of the other reviews and don't dispute the comments about stickiness, etc. But, IMHO, this place is 5 stars for what it is, which is a very large beer hall that's a super fun place to hang and gets incredibly busy. (If that's not your jam, don't go!) But, if that is your jam, here are some of the things I love: 1) The service has always been attentive and fast, even when they're crazy busy. This is hard to do, and is appreciated! 2) This is a great place to go during the summer with outdoor seating, or in the cozy winter. 3) I love that they have abundant jenga and big tables. We roll in with 6-15 people every time we go, and have always found a place to sit. We've probably been 15 times so far. 4) The beer selection is great 5) The food is surprisingly good, and super fast! All in all, a great, casual place to hang with friends, any day of the week. read more

My review is 3.5 but I think Spritzenhaus can easily make minor changes to make it 4. The variation of beers makes this a 4 star and the family friendliness is awesome. We came with a group of about 30 people and ordered a large amount of food and drinks. Partway through, staff noticed a single outside drink that someone had set down at our table. Instead of giving us a chance to remove it or even mentioning it to us, they immediately brought over security and asked our entire group to leave. I had a couple and thy were all excellent beers. Huge venue and service was quick at the bar given a good number of bartenders and, when it gets busier, they've got two sets of taps by the looks of it which is great. I LOVE Allagash White and so I grab one of those and the bar tender recommends the Cheeseburger Smash because I'm not super hungry. I'm really glad I got it because it's delicious. Came here Saturday at opening time with my family, yes family included teenagers. Checked the website ahead of time for opening hours, policies etc. nothing on website about ages for admission. Was turned away at the door and told 'no children on Saturday' can't argue with a private business policy but rather confused why I drove 45mins to visit this place and couldn't learn this info on the website. Industrial meets fairy lights! A cool mashup of style for a German beer house. Lots of open seating, which are long communal tables. No hostess for seating, it's first come first serve. Order food at the bar, get a ticket, and pick-up at the kitchen. It eliminates the need for servers. Food comes out quick!! The most we waited was 8 minutes for fries and a soft pretzel. Fries were HOT, fresh, and seasoned to perfection. The pretzel was so buttery and warm! There's a list of creative list of sauce options that are definitely made in house. My only complaint is I would love to enjoy the pretzel with hot cheese, but it was not an option. Also, the pretzel was on the smaller size. NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE!!! Yes, they have a special entrance on the side but zero handicap accessible bathrooms. I use to always come here back in the day but that was before I had my accident. I was excited to return till I had to use the restroom only to find out they didn't have one for me. If this place really cares about their customers, they could easily make two of the four (!!!) abled body bathrooms into on handicap accessible stale. I don't mind waiting in line for the restroom but I do mind when I can't even use one in general. Do better!!!! read more

It's the spaciousness of this great beer hall and its prime location on the border of Williamsburg and Greenpoint that makes Spritzenhaus a go-to for my large group gatherings. You can just drop in without a reservation and you're sure to find a seat at a long table or some corner to stand in. In the evenings the whole space gives off a warm glow from the hanging lights and indoor fireplace, and during the day with natural light filling the 6,000 sq ft space it's hard not to be in a good mood. The food menu is limited, mostly comprising of sausages, pretzels, and fries, but the extensive beer list is where it's at. There's even a solid cocktail menu since they have a full bar if beer is not your speed. I'm a big fan of Spritz. I have been coming here for years with my friends. It is a very large space, with a lot of picnic table seating to accommodate large groups. The space is always pretty packed on weekends, both during the night and day. You'll see a lot of birthday parties here, because it's so easy for large groups to hang out here, and it's close to a lot of other great bars if you want to bar hop. The beer menu is pretty expansive, and they have a full bar. The well drinks are actually pretty cheap (sub $10, which is rare in this neighborhood). There is also a limited food menu, with an emphasis on biergarten-type foods such as sausages and pretzels. They do have a pretty decent kale Caesar salad that I've had a few times. I would definitely recommend Spritzenhaus33 for a casual drink, particularly if you are with a large group of people. read more

Worst experience of my life. Sat down with a group of people on my friends birthday. We had a couple bottles with us but we kept them sealed on the side. We ordered drinks from the bar and we're waiting on our food when Jim the bartender with long hair asks us if the bottle on the ground was ours we said yes and he took it and told us to get out with a smile on his face. We never got our food and didn't get a refund. The way Jim spoke to us was rude, condescending, and disrespectful. When we were standing outside trying to make new plans Jim came out with that bottle cheers-ing us obnoxiously and taking shots. Surely he could've asked us to take those bottles elsewhere outside instead of telling us to get out. He also claimed to be the manager which I really hope he wasn't. Kudos to Lance and the friendly & attentive staff who did a great job of securing tables for us by leaving printed reservation signs. Seek the help of the many formidable bouncers to kick off any unwanted strangers. - Huge drink menu at affordable prices. I like that the bar wraps around the entire place so there's no bottleneck. - Yummy fries and hot dogs. - Support dogs (with paperwork) and children allowed. I suggest noise reduction headphones for toddlers. - You can bring outside birthday cake and they will store in the fridge for you. Another big plus is that they generously provide utensils and paper plates at no extra cost! Cons: - Due to its popularity, the space can get quite packed.
