Absolutely the worst customer experience I have ever had, with any customer service center. I had a move scheduled for yesterday that I booked over a week and a half ago so ample time. I also found it really strange that they gave me a time window that was all day (10-8). I received an email on Friday saying that I was basically confirmed for yesterday. I sat around and waited for them ALL DAY, around 4pm I called and asked if they were coming and the lady at the receptionist said she would contact the Ops team and would get back to me.. Around 5 she didn't call back, so I called again. This time she gave me a 7 oclock time frame. 7:30 came around and still absolutely nothing. I called back and they were closed. At the end of the day I had family scramble and help me finish my move. This is absolutely embarrassing for a company to promise a service that is supposed to be help their customer be stress free on a day where alot is already going on. Learn how to communicate and stop wasting people's time. Disgusting I will never recommend your terrible company to anyone. read more

Waste of money. -Movers took almost an hour to drive the 13 minute trip to our house. The clock starts when they leave the home office. I had to fight to get money back on the extra 30 minutes ($200) they spent driving who knows where (McDonalds?). -Lots of damage to furniture and damage to my new house too. -Got called a J*ck*ass behind my back by one of the movers because he did not like how high I had stacked some boxes. Actually made me chuckle, but not very professional. -Placed a claim for over 4K in damages and received $200 because they pay 60 cents per pound no matter what the value of the damaged piece. -Crew was slow and took lots of phone breaks. They charge $400/hr and don't hustle. My advice: -Pack your possessions into bins/boxes and put them in a pod. -Send pod to your new home. -Sell your old furniture. -Take the money from selling old furniture along with money you would have paid movers (to move and destroy your old furniture) and use it to have new furniture delivered to your new house. This will cost a little more, but you will have all new stuff instead of spending 4K to be left with old/broken furniture. There is more, but you don't need to hear the drawn out details. Add in that I was on a business trip and left my wife solo. The move team assisted my wife above and beyond their normal service. For example they helped her corral her fish from the tank and transport both fish and tank to our new home. Everything arrived safe and the did a lot of setup as well. Do not use this company! They promised to send three movers; however 2 arrived and it took them over 12 hours to move a one bedroom apartment 2 blocks! Mind you, they charge by the hour! This moving company is awful! They are unprofessional. Granted a few guys did a good job the first time I used them but the second time the guys were extremely slow. They dropped my food down my stairs going up and expected me to clean it up. Also, the guys forgot a few of my things on my balcony but thank you to the one guy who went back for my stuff. I really appreciate that. The last time I used this company, the movers "dropped" my entertainment center and claimed it was already falling apart. I was in my place talking with the manager so I did not witness this "fall." Finally, I was appalled at the man who decided to take away the final sign sheet in a huff (right after sharing my entertainment stand broke in pieces) without confirming it was ready to go. Like the other Square Cow team I dealt with before, they were professional, courteous, and protected our armoire well. Several weeks ago, I used square cow movers to move in my same building from one floor to the next. I had a very bad, horrible no good experience that is still unresolved. 1.) I gave very specific instructions to BE EXTRA careful with our special new, recently custom made glass dining room table. 2.) took out and paid for their insurance. 3.) move crew jammed our table into an elevator frame and shattered our table. 4.). They waited until the end of the move after the paperwork to bring in my table. They promised to "notify management that evening and that everything will be resolved to your satisfaction." 5.) owner, manager and coordinator not empathetic, problem-solvers nor polite. Using tactics including: stalling, avoidance, going around the customer behind her back with the US distribution company when we submitted the estimate to replace the table 6.) trying to minimize value, craftsmanship and uniqueness of table insisting the table was "nicked" and a local shop could locate and relaminate the custom color and construction glass 7.). Now no dining room table for holidays , and will probably have to hire a lawyer. 8.) unprofessional. Company. These guys are amazing. We just moved from a house we have lived in for 15 years into a brand new home. We needed two trucks and four guys to get it done in a day - and they did it. Demarcus, Jayvion, Danny and Chase did great work for us. No damage to anything, and a great, friendly attitude. They worked hard all day, took great care with us and with our things. We got everything moved in on the one day we had for it. Not only that, but these guys placed furniture - sometimes twice - without a word of complaint. They even hefted our new desks (still in boxes) into our room from the front porch, just to be nice. Professional, prompt, and the best movers we've ever worked with. You can trust them to get the work done - and for the EXACT price they quoted us. That was the best part. We budgeted quite a bit more than we were quoted, based on our previous experience with movers, but they came in on their estimate to the penny. read more

I had a terrible experience with this company. I had a very simple move - one bedroom in South Austin to a one bedroom in East Austin. I had everything packed and boxed up when the movers arrived. The estimate was $600 (3-4 hrs) for the total move. Well. Things went wrong from the beginning. The movers were friendly but very slow. I was carrying heavy items to and from the van faster than they were. Ultimately the move took almost 12 hours, when it should have taken less than half that amount of time. The cost was over $1200. I called the Square Cow office to alert them to the delays and they assured me everything would be taken care of and I would not be on the hook for the full $1200. They lied to me. I called several times and they would not budge. Their service was inferior and they overcharged me by a huge amount. I recommend using any other service! Avoid them! read more

Definitely exceeded my expectations. The moovers called when they were leaving their shop and showed up on time. In the initial walk through, they were very polite and attentive to all of the details; they asked good questions and made an effort to understand what needed to happen ... Then, they remembered everything we covered! Our stuff was moved with no damages or issues. On some of our larger furniture, it was obvious these guys had been trained because there were able to dismantle and move furniture quicker and safer than the retailers that had originally delivered it to our house. What a horrible experience! Our move took ages, since they sent 2 people less than usually. They didn't listen to instructions and had to ask the same questions all over again, but still left lots of things behind. We had to drive to our old house 6 times to get everything. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Most unprofessional movers I've ever used in my life. Was hired to move my family out of my house at 9am and into two pods in our driveway. Three 20something year old kids showed up. Clearly not professional movers, but nice kids. Our previous movers moved us out of our 3 bedroom home in Houston and into our Austin home in 10hrs (including the 3hr drive between the cities - they started at 9am and we were moved in by 7pm). These three kids spent nearly seven friggin hours loading two pods. They moved almost all of our furniture into our garage, and then had to re-move it all into the trucks. They had one kid standing outside telling the other two to leave the items in the garage so he could better rearrange the truck. No one moves someone like that. But hey - they're paid hourly so it's no surprise they took their time. All previous movers I've used ask for a specific box count and go, step by step, over exactly what they'll be moving to get the best estimate. Not these guys. Asked how many rooms and that was it. Once the pods reached our destination, we discovered the real depths to their professionalism. Our king sized wooden bed frame was half-wrapped with plastic and was placed on its side (wood exposed to pod). We had bookcases that were wrapped with plastic, halfway, with the tape touching the wood bookcases in multiple locations. We had a movie screen that was 10ft long and specifically told, multiple times, that it had to be laid flat and could not be placed in such a way that it would bend or bow (it was in a long, narrow box). Found it draped across multiple boxes with no support in the middle, huge bow. Such a joke - avoid at all cost. We contacted them with pictures of the damage and because they had told us they were insured, professional movers we only had the most basic of insurance coverage (.60 per lb). $500+ worth of damage, received a check for $160~. We needed movers to move from the 360 to the Independent. Basically just across the street. It took them about 6 hours and they scratched every single piece of our hardwood furniture, along with our floors and walls. They also forgot some mirrors. They also tried to plug in our washer and dryer, which fried the switch in our brand new unit, and now we have to have an electrician come out and fix that before we can set up our washer and dryer. Upon further inspection of the dryer plug, I noticed the hose from the dryer that connects to the dryer vent is broken. Another expensive fix. read more

Square Cow reached out to us and gave us a partial refund - they cut us a check for a portion of the amount we paid (we paid close to 2k) and brought it to us the same day. They let us know that the people involved in our move had all been terminated, including the branch manager. They were very proactive and apologetic. However, today, they called me and tried to coerce me into changing my Yelp review from the one star rating. I let the manager know that I appreciate their make do, but I had a negative experience and that still stands - it was not until I submitted this yelp review that anyone reached out to us even though we left feedback in their internal survey. He let me know that my husband yesterday said something different about the review to which I stated I am a different person than my husband and he could leave his own review. He closed the call in a short and rude manner. I don't feel that an honest review should be bought. I appreciate the partial refund, but realistically, we overpaid for bad service from a branch they admitted was very poorly run - we had 3 movers and one did nothing but get in the way and packed in a manner where our stuff was damaged. They refunded us the portion for his labor. I am left with a negative experience once again. I do not like the fact that this company thinks they can pay people with negative experiences to change their yelp review- this leads me to believe that their overall high rating is purchased. Consumer, beware! I was leery about leaving any review because they have my home address but I am indignant that they think that they can pay for positive yelp reviews. Would not recommend. They packed our house into a storage unit and didn't use boxes for much of the stuff. Tossed my stereo speakers atop the pile and broke them. Didn't wrap my mattresses, and now they're filthy. Didn't wrap my sofa and ruined it. In fact, I found a table leg poking through the bottom upholstery of my sofa from them trying to shove it all in the unit. In addition, I had to rush one of the movers to the ER after his buddy ran over him with the truck during my move. Dude had a compound fracture in his arm. We had to move some things into storage from my parents' house, pretty much at the last minute, so we could reconfigure the house for my father coming home from the hospital. The company rep who came out to give us an estimate was a consummate professional. The movers showed up on time, and they were Ryan, Marquis, Lamarcus, and Joshua R. These guys are fabulous! Loaders took a gallon of our bottled drinking water without asking for it. And just today I found out that the side of my bedroom dresser was entirely scratched up and my coffee table top dented. After getting some price quotes from different companies I realized not only are the trucks cool but their rates super reasonable. I booked them almost two months in advance of my move an hour away. Today was my move and I have to say I was blown away. My two mover team was Travis and Bonita. Both of them were super friendly, professional and efficient. We did a walk through of the apartment they were packing up, and then when we got to the house a walk through of where I wanted them to place everything. we hired square cow because it was local and they were available the day we wanted to move. Because I was coming back from an overseas trip the day before, we opted to also have them pack for us. This was all supposed to be smooth and relieve stress but our experience was the opposite. Not only did the packers misplace a personal item that was not supposed to be packed or even touched, they also packed various items used to stage the house that they were specifically told to leave. Additionally, there we're four cabinets in the kitchen left unpacked, plus three cabinets and a drawer left in the bathroom. The garage was also mostly unpacked, just piles of stuff to be moved the next day. I spent hours and hours doing what was supposed to be done! The movers were polite and professional but they only brought 2 trucks and 4 movers so a ton of stuff did not get moved plus it took 13 hours to load and unload the two trucks they did have. This was poorly planned and coordinated, expensive, and we are having to rent a uhaul to move the last of the big items left behind. This is in addition to multiple daily trips between houses (Cedar Park to Lago Vista) to bring needed items for setting up the new house. Very frustrating and exhausting experience overall. We made an appointment with Square Cow Moovers (The Austin location) to move our belongings in an 4 hours time frame. The Cost for the move was to be under $400. It took over 6 hours for 3 movers (we requested 2 movers) to move our belongings and cost almost $700 (It cost us $900 to move from Colorado to Texas so why did it cost so much to move less than a mile?). Square Cow start charging customers from the time that their workers leave their facilities to the completion of the move. It took 45 minutes for the movers to arrive. When they arrived they came into the apartment and looked at the items we had to move and went back outside without carrying anything. Then an additional mover showed up. We ordered 2 movers, so we told the leader that we were not paying for three movers. Very slowly they begin moving our items. We had stacked our boxes by sized near the door so they could be moved quickly. Instead of moving the boxes they re-stacked them and then took them outside. Only the lead moved multiple items at a time. The other two movers walked around looking for light weighted items to take to the truck. One mover asked if we were moving our freezer (we were moving to another apartment so why would we leave anything behind?). After taking hours to load the truck they got lost driving a few blocks to our new apartment complex. When they arrived at the new apartment complex they passed our building by and went to a different building even though we had explained that our building was the first building in the complex. They moved even slower taking our items into the apartment. We called the company to complain about how long it was taking three mover to mover our 2 bedroom apartment and was told that the movers have 6 hours to move our things (we had agreed that it should take 4 hours when we booked their movers). It took over 6 hours to move a 2 bedroom apartment. They put 90% of the boxes in my bedroom instead of putting them in the other rooms. It took a long time to move the boxes out of the bedroom so my bed could be set up. As we begin to unpacked our belongings I saw that the top to my computer desk had been broken off. The part where I set my printer was just hanging to the side and the rest of the desk top was not attached anywhere ( there was nothing wrong with my desk before Square Cow workers move it). Then I saw that the frame on my recliner had been bent. Several of our boxes had also been opened. Taking over 6 hours to move a 2 bedroom apartment worth of items should have resulted in them taking better care of our things. We will never use Square Cow Movers again! I booked this move from Los Angeles, CA. Relocating back home to Austin. I was told I would get 2movers and a truck. Kiss of death. Get more done with 3 movers. The guy driving the truck was doing all the work. The extra team member was useless, he was slow and could not think on his own. It was like he was daydreaming. He was complaining about how the movers in LA paced the truck. I had some things going to my apt and some going to storage. I told them I had a 23 foot truck and they only sent 1 man because the other one was not here. He should not be working as a mover all he did was complain until I told him how much I was paying for him to do his job. Ridiculous. He should be fired. He costs me more money than I should be paying. Slow Slow Slow. Will not use or recommend. Towards the end the LAZY one asked me if I wanted to grab some of the smaller things to move things along. I went to their website to get a quote estimate and then called to follow up after I received the quote via email. The person I spoke with was polite and answered all of my questions. I was happy with the quote and set up an appointment. Since I was a smaller move, I had a time range when the movers would arrive. They called ahead that morning 30 minutes before they arrived. Anthony and John did a survey of the things that needed to be moved and then got to work. The entire move was under my estimated three hours! When picking a moving company, there are basics it has to cover in order to become your first choice for hauling your measly earthly things from point A to point B, correct? --Willingness to do the job. The two movers showed up at our apartment ready to get the show on the road. So far, so good. --Careful but quick-paced transport. Between the two of them, it took about an hour to load up our boxes and furniture, which was a generous amount of time, given three boxes of books that must have weighed more than our washer and dryer combined. But that didn't slow them down, and they were careful with fragile appliances. So far, still good. --Provide trucks that DON'T HAVE HOLES where rainwater can leak through and on top of cardboard boxes, some of which turned to soup once they were unloaded.While the weather had been projected to be rainy, it was cooperating at the time of the loading, so we figured with good time and traffic, we'd be able to beat the rain. This far, not good. Upon arrival at our house and still under the assault of rain that pounded on us like Rocky on Ivan, the movers unloaded our stuff and declared some boxes had gotten wet due to a hole in the ceiling of the truck. Until then I didn't realize moving companies had trucks emulating the Flintstones' car with a scrappy patch of white on top for roofing. What did they think they were moving, bedrocks? It didn't end there. A few boxes were saturated on the sides and electronics such as a keyboard, phone charger, speaker connectors, USB hubs, etc. were rendered as useless as an umbrella in the desert. Of course, because the damaged items totaled under $300, they were deemed unworthy of the Measly Earthly Possessions coverage Square Cow offers, and we were forced to suck it up like a mosquito on a vein. This is an overdue review. They moved me on December 5, 2011 from the storage units behind their offices to my downtown apartment. My stuff and I had arrived in Austin December 2, 2011 - but the condo wasn't ready so the stuff had to be stored and then moved. I chose Square Cow (from my former home in Memphis) because I liked the website, the reviews and they seemed genuinely nice on the phone. December 5 was rainy. I arrived at the storage facility to find them already loading the truck. Great! I liked that they were getting a jump on things. The load went fairly smoothly - especially considering the rain and slick conditions. Until the end...and they brought out of the truck the most expensive piece of furniture I own - a very heavy and tall armoire. It had been loaded on the truck before my arrival - and it had been damaged. Instead of securing the doors with plastic wrap or a large rubber band, they just moved it onto the truck. As they did, one of the doors flew open hitting the side of he truck. The right armoire door was ripped from it's upper hinge out of the piece of furniture. The top of the armoire was knocked off, and one of the handles was broken off. Not to mention that a couple of their employees got scraped up. So I was standing around watching all my stuff be loaded, and everyone was so very nice to me because they knew that there had been a mess up - but they weren't saying a word. That explained the awkwardness I felt. The Square Cow manager came down from the office and explained that they had a good wood worker who could repair the piece. They said the piece would be taken to his shop. At this point there wasn't much I could do but continue the day and trust them. The rest of the move was fairly smooth. There were several scratches on my bed frame, side tables, chairs but I didn't mention any of it because they had my favorite piece. The leader of the move was very upset most of the day. He was a young man in his early 20s. He was worried about the cost of the repair work. I expressed my thought that they surely must have insurance. He said that they did, but that as move leader he was responsible and at a minimum the deductible would be out of his pocket. After the move, I called a couple of times to see how the repairs were going. It felt like they were pushing me off although doing it very politely. I finally received a call saying that the piece was ready and they could deliver it that day. I expressed a desire to see it first and asked for the address of the wood worker. I thought why move it if I'm not happy with the repair work. They hemmed and hawed. It's my believe that they piece was left in the storage unit and the repairs made on site yet they didn't want to say that. Onsite or at a shop - I didn't care. I just wish they had been straight forward about it. When I went over the list of items I expected repaired there was a pause when I mentioned the handle. I was then told that the piece couldn't be delivered that day because all the trucks were full. In the end, they did return my armoire repaired as best (I suppose) as possible. Would I use these guys again? Not a chance. read more

I am so disappointed with their services. Top Five Reasons to choose someone else: 5. Their window timeframe is ridiculous (11am- 5pm is when I was told they would be here). 4. They were slow. (I had to move my stuff into a storage with another company who took only 2 1/2 hours with 2 guys and they took 4 hours with 3 guys when they moved my stuff out. What gives?) 3. They antagonize dogs (My sister's dog is super nice and one of the guys teased her until she started barking. A few minutes later, he did it again. We snapped at her dog trying to get her to be quiet, and the guy said, "it's kinda my fault, I was antagonizing her." We knew, but what were we gonna say). 2. They scratched and dented my furniture. (Two pieces: a vintage bar and an enamel coffee table) 1. They were a bunch of wanna be kids (except the one who was leading, which is why they got 2 stars; he was the only one that seemed like he knew what he was doing). They seemed tired and like they really didn't care. Then my husband gave them a $100.00 tip! That's on my husband though. We used Square Cow Moovers this March to move from our 2/2 apartment in the NW Hills to a 3/2 house in Cedar Park. We decided to do the hourly rate instead of the flat rate, which had me a little worried, but the guys were very professional, quick, and friendly. They didn't milk the clock at all. I called to get pricing and Wade was very helpful and courteous. I felt comfortabl with my decision to use them. We decided on a time, date and hourly rate and everything went as planned. The guys showed up on time, got down to business, and didn't break a thing. The guys were super helpful; they even gave us tips about our new neighborhood! Alex and Ivan did a great job. I took advantage of the Yelp special and got $25 off my total. I'm sure we'll be using them again the next time we move! read more

In a move across town they broke a full length mirror, got grease stains on the couch, broke a cabinet, and lost a mattress. I billed them about $2,000 for all of that and they payed $150 and pointed to some shit in the contract where they aren't liable for breaking all your stuff you paid them to move. read more

So, there is extensive damage to my bed. I am appalled, dismayed, disheartened...I have good things to say about them-up until this part! I can't believe the man responsible for this took my $150 tip and $920 charges, looking me in the eye after butchering my bed...so disappointed! 4/7/16 They have refunded $150 of my moving costs ($920+$150 tip). I got the bulk of the damage fixed per "The Woodist", and am awaiting reimbursement. 4/15/16 Rec'd $180 reimbursement for repairs. The bed will never be the same, the whole thing is still very disappointing to say the least. But I will say that up until the damaging my bed part the guys were very pleasant and accommodating. I have not opened a box of glasses that sounds broken as I just couldn't deal, and put it in a closet. This is a two part review as we used Square Cow for moving and packing. For the moving part: Square Cow was great! The owner showed up at our house a couple of weeks prior to our move and gave us a quote. Having dealt with some pretty shady movers in the past, I was impressed with how prompt they were, the price we were given (which did not change once they had all of our stuff; I've heard horror stories about other movers doing this) and how easy they were to communicate with prior to our move. When they put our furniture together at our new place they kept it all a couple inches from the wall, so we were able to plug in lamps and whatnot with ease. Nice touch! I would absolutely use them again for moving. . . . Now, for the packing part: I can't say I was as impressed with their packing service. When the owner came over to give us a quote, I asked for any suggestions on what I could do before the packers came and his reply was "nothing." Having never used packers before and getting the advice that I didn't have to lift a finger, I stepped back and let them do their thing. For the most part it was fine, but there were just too many things that didn't meet my satisfaction. Before their arrival, I had made a list of everything that needed to stay in the house, listed room by room, making it as easy as possible for them. And when they arrived, we all walked through room by room and told them what should stay. Unfortunately, several items that should have stayed ended up on the truck, including my suitcase with everything I needed until the truck showed up the next day at our new place. Ugh! I'm pretty laid back and expect a broken glass, chipped plate or a few scratches on furniture (all of which happened). That's just part of moving, I get it. But throwing open bags of flour & open shampoo bottles in boxes is just plain sloppy, and the stuff in those boxes were pretty much ruined (or required LOTS of cleaning on my part). A record was left on our turntable and the needle totally scratched it up by the time we unpacked. But what upset me the most was our framed wedding portrait thrown in the bottom of a wardrobe box, without even as much as newspaper around it. Somehow it didn't break, but it is pretty banged up. I thought it would be obvious a wedding portrait should be handled with care, guess not. *hmph* Bottom line: I would use them again for moving, but the jury is still out on having them pack me again. read more

This summer I tackled one of the toughest challenges I have every had ... I moved my elderly mother from her home of 40 years in Amarillo (a good 8 hours from us!) down to Austin so she could be near us. This move was exhausting and emotional for so many reasons... but there was one part of the move which gave me no hesitation and no concern. While it was my family's task to sort through and pare down years of memories and treasures - I knew Square Cow could be trusted to handle with care and respect those things we chose to save. And they did. We hired them for this long-distance move knowing that the moment where Mom closed the door to her home in Amarillo for the last time would be her saying good-bye to a huge part of her life. I knew Square Cow had the respect and the manners to handle both her "things" and her heart with care - and they did not disappoint. We have moved 6 times in the last years (finally we are settled!). Our daughter has used them. And now our Mamaw has used them. I'd say we wouldn't think of hiring any other company! read more

This was my best experience with movers EVER. 100% will use them again. I drove a Uhaul full of my stuff from Phoenix to Austin and hired Square Cow to move my life from the Uhaul into a complicated apartment complex in East Austin. Here are the highlights: 1. Kevin and Thomas were serious professionals. They hustled the entire time and took extreme caution when it came to handling my things. I never felt even a bit nervous by the way they were carrying/transporting things. This is the only time I have used movers where I have felt 100% confident that they were being as careful with my stuff as I would have been. 2. Fair rate. $125/hr. 2 hr minimum. Prorated at 15 min increments after that. They had every possible type of dolly, carpet covering, door frame protector, etc. that you could possibly thing of. I felt their service was worth every penny. 3. They really went above and beyond. Kevin and Thomas offered to help with seriously anything that involved moving things around. They helped me put my bedskirt on the box spring before placing the mattress on. They helped me arrange the furniture once it was in the room. They were extremely patient, kind, and personable. Overall, I can't think of anything they could have improved upon. These guys have to be the best moving service in Austin. read more
