We took a day trip to one of our favorite coastal citys, Lincoln City. We were on our way to J's for some chowder and fried fish and they were closed, we had not been in town for at least 2 years, we were looking for another spot, we ran into some great looking review from Squatchsami so we decided to drive a few mins south to try it, go glad that we did. They have an ample outdoor parking lot with access to handicap parking spots, so no need to look around for street parking. As you enter the building form the main road you are greeted by a friendly group of staff, the staff seem like family members. Nice touch. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly. They two large restrooms toward the back of the building. The interior has a rustic vibe to it. As far as seating you have long family style tables, a few two person tables ands some very creative seating arrangements, I enjoyed the two tall back chairs with a tiny table that faced the main room, also in the back room they have ample seating for more privacy for larger family groups. First come first serve on the indoor seating, if you like they also have ample benches around the outside of the building. One other great touch throughout the building you will find Sasquatch like decor. The menu and food, lots to choose from, to long to list but we focused on the halibut-3pc with a side, ( the halibut pieces are large) we chose the Rosemary fries (a must try), the were amazing and the halibut, Wow it was amazing, the crust or batter was not greasy, great tasting and not dense, it was a perfect blend. Just a tip, if you would like sliced lemons please ask, they are not served with your food. We also shared a bowl of chowder, the chowder was also a treat, it was loaded with veggies and protein, great tasting. I think we might have found our new rest stop. read more

Seems like every restaurant on the Oregon Coast claims to have the "best" fish and chips (or clam chowder), but they can't ALL be the best. I've tried many plates of fish and chips. I've been wanting to try this place with the funny name, and was told it had turned from a food truck to a brick and morter restaurant, so that felt like a good sign. We went several days ago but got there too late as we forgot to check their hours before going, so today I tried again, earlier in the day. Cute place, nice ambience, I really appreciated the indoor tables (of varying sizes) since I accidentally left my hoodie at home. They also had seats to use if the line was long. Checked out the menu and placed my order for 2 halibut with sea salt fries plus a soda. WOW. I started with the fries to allow the fish to cool off a bit. First bite of fries? PERFECTLY cooked, tasty shoestring fries. Not the fat or soggy fries everyone else at the coast serves, but nice crunchy, tasty fries. Exactly what I had been craving. Will absolutly try the resomary fries next time. I ate every one. Then I tried the fish. YOWZA - WOW. Simply wonderful. I can't describe how light the batter was. It was also super crunchy and very tasty. The fish was perfectly cooked, not under or over done. I ate every little crumb, almost not believing how good the meal was. Finally, I had found the best fish and chips. The price was very reasonable. Service was quite friendly, and two different employees checked on me during my time there to ask if I needed anything. The menu was limited and simple. I felt like they do a few things so they can do them well. It's the In-N-Out (burger) philosophy - you can't be good at everything so be great at a few things. I got on Google and typed "the best fish and chips in Lincoln City" and it said this place was the best. I feel like that is an exaggeration. The lingcod fish was a tad overly greasy, and almost too overcooked in the outside, but it was fine. I did not completely dislike the meal. Although I do wish they offered halibut. The rosemary fries were pretty good. And we also got their clam chowder, which was also good. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean. The prices are actually pretty reasonable. We would come back for the clam chowder and fries. But we will probably try another spot for fried fish next time. It was just a smidge disappointing. I would actually give this place 3.5 stars if that was an option, but it's not, so I rounded up to 4 Also, restaurants need to stop blasting terrible 90s pop music. Can confirm some of the best fish & chips I've ever had. Right off the highway outside of Lincoln City. This place is gold. The staff is awesome and so friendly. They have both inside & outside seating. If you don't like fish you can get chicken as well but my goodness the crisp and taste of their fish is incredible. During our trip to the coast, my boyfriend had planned to make a pitstop here to get some fish n' chips (what they were known for based on reviews) and it did not disappoint! We got their chicken t'sami and their lingcod fish n' chips, which went well with their sweet tea that we ordered. My boyfriend got the huckleberry sweet tea which had a sour and sweetness to it, and I got a regular sweet tea which had this really floral fragrance to it and the sweetness was just right. The fish n' chips were really good, the batter around the fish was golden and crispy, the fish was flaky and soft. So good that my boyfriend ate it while it was piping hot! The fries were perfect and crispy. The owner was so nice and brought out an aioli that tasted so good with the fries (reminded me of the animal sauce from In N' Out). The chicken t'sami was also really good, the chicken was juicy and crispy, and paired well with the pickles and slaw. The ciabatta bread was soft and everything felt so fresh. Saw this truck rated as a 5 star place with almost 200 reviews and immediately had to try it. They have some of the freshest, flakiest, hand caught halibut we've ever had and we will definitely be stopping here when we're near Salishan! There are restrooms right behind it, plenty of walking space and bags for walking your dog, and has ample parking. For the meal, I opted for the slaw in addition to the halibut sandwich and it was a citrusy palate-cleanser from the sweet fish. The pickled onions were perfect on a fish sandwich, I never thought of adding them before! My fiancé got the fish and rosemary fries and they were to die for, steaming hot and falling apart in flakes as you ate it, as well as perfectly salty. Delicious lunch! This was our first time here, but not our last. My husband and I stopped in and both had different chicken sandwiches. They were equally delicious! The brioche roll tasted like it was freshly made, the chicken was hot and crispy, and the toppings and coleslaw were both very good. We were hoping for halibut but the lady explained this is not halibut fishing season and she reminded us that they only use freshly caught fish (as noted on their website). The simple, well executed menu stands out and is perfect for a warm, inviting destination right on Hwy. 101. I started with the clam chowder. It came out piping hot, and was creamy, flavorful, and loaded with delicious local ingredients. For my main course, I had the fish & fries. The fish had a crisp flavorful batter, so much so that I could actually see the seasoning in the batter. The fish was flaky, moist, and delicious. They offer a tasty tartar sauce, a Cajun tartar sauce, and a thick and delicious cocktail sauce. All of the dipping sauces were well seasoned, balanced, and delicious as well. I added a side of the coleslaw, as I find it hard to find good coleslaw at most restaurants, and had to try their version. This side dish was another story. It was well dressed, the cabbage was crunchy, and it had a hint of lime to give an extra little kick. My wife, who isn't a big fan of most coleslaw also thought this was delicious and well executed! Speaking of my wife, she had the chicken sandwich and it was one of the best she's had. Again, the batter on the chicken was well seasoned, the chicken was moist, the bread held up to the ingredients, but was also soft enough and easy to eat. The pickles added a touch of acidity that rounded out the flavor profile. We had the blackberry lemonade, which was delicious, and took a fresh, homemade brownie to go that was also a fantastic treat. The staff at Squatchsami were welcoming and friendly.
