Squirrely's was recommended to us and being that we are not from the area and were hungry, it was worth a try.
Parking was almost impossible which is sometimes a good thing for restaurants but in this case, i was irritated. Immediately upon entering the establishment, it had the appearance of a dirty billards bar. the first room did not appear to be used much as there were large stains all over the carpet, random objects sitting on top of chairs, and things just weren't in order. The cigarette odor immediately invaded our lungs which only got worse inside the next door. There were plenty of customers and I suppose they were all local regulars. One of them immediately tried to sell us large boxes of beef and seafood for us to bring home. Another was overheard yelling about prostitution. I only saw one staff member and she was performing the duties of waitress and bartender and possibly more. The food was fair in quality...they had an okay menu but i got the impression that they didn't have a ready supply of everything on the menu. when my dad ordered onion rings, they said they didn't have any and when i ordered jalapenos on my cheeseburger, they found some but it wasn't the normal cut that you apply to a cheeseburger because they ran out of the usual ones.
I wouldn't recommend this place for a lunch and I would have been embarrassed if I had brought my girlfriend. The smoking smell was the biggest problem as it almost made my eyes water. I am not sure what the price of beer was but i suspect that might have been low for i see no other reason why there would have been such a crowd of 10-15 people. read more
