Although it is in…read morea remote location, I would recommend the drive out hereto see one of Texas' famous Painted Churches. However all beauty and history aside, there are a few drawbacks that hold this parish back a bit. My primary criticism is the Liturgy. Despite all the beautiful walls within the church, the mass within the church is a bit... hollow. Why have a gorgeous high altar when you don't even bother to use it? Why instead is the altar that is used look like a little table that barely fits anything? This parish should use the tools that God has given them, not some renovations from the 60's. This is also reflected in the atmosphere of the parish overall. People talking before and after Mass, dressing in jeans or shorts, and just an overall lack of reverance. It's far from the worst offender in the area, but it's just another in a line of irreverent Masses. This church deserves so much more! As for the staff, they seem friendly enough. Fr. Anthony seems nice enough, but he seems like a priest going through the motions. Overall I will always be at awe over the art in this Church and likely will visit again for that reason, however improvements can be made. I've seen much worse here in rural Texas, but this church needs to embrace its traditions. The future of The Catholic Church is in tradition. Younger generations yearn for tradition!

Today we just finished our first time at St. Mary's Annual Bizarre (2019 was their 125th annual bizarre). This bizarre was amazing with a great, large turnout (huge). We loved experiencing the community, the country and homemade BBQ and deserts; live auction so fun; great silent auction and the kids loved the games. We really appreciated how the bizarre is a great gathering feast to Montgomery, Plantersville and around. If visiting the area, St. Mary's would be a nice place to visit followed by Sunday late afternoon fun at Bernhardt Winery in Plantersville.

The name is changing to focus on what is most important - not what divides us but Christ who brings us together.

I has an older building with lovely stained glass windows and beautiful courtyard. The comfortable sanctuary hosts the traditional service on Sunday morning. Its newer building has the contemporary service with a Christian band. Nursery care is provided in the newer building. The greeters at the door were amazing! She assisted us with everything we needed. From helping us get to the children's wing so we could drop off our son, showing us where we could get some refreshments, she introduced us to just about everybody and amazingly enough there were very welcoming, took us to the resource area where after getting some information we were given a welcome gift, and finally walked us into the sanctuary. We were completely blown away walking in there. IT'S INCREDIBLE! There are ushers at both doors that assist everyone with getting their seating, so we were shown where to seat. We were early so we waited for service to start and surprisingly enough a few people stopped by to speak with us. Then service started and the worship team stepped on platform. Let me tell you something... that worship team is ON FIRE FOR THE LORD AND ONE OF A KIND! They are amazing!! Before I knew it I was crying because I was so moved. Then Apostle Brian Hallam came out and gave one of the best sermons I've ever heard. He teaches right out of the Bible, and doesn't hold back. I mean that in a good way. This church is hands down one of the best Holy Spirit filled churches I've ever been in. I've never felt the power of God move like it does here. It truly is remarkable and life changing.
