I really like this building. It's easy to walk by, as many do everyday, but when you actually look at it, it's quite a spectacular feature juxtaposed on Westland Row, right beside Pearse Street Dart Station.
Immense grey pillars greet you at the entrance but the cavernous and exquisite interior came as a surprise to me on my first visit. I think it is the sheer enormity yet peaceful quietness that I like about this church. Work on this building began in 1832, so it's well worth a look, if only for the architecture and design. I have only ever stopped in for a few minutes at a time, a break from the noise and bustle of the street outside. But mass services are regular and are also streamed in audio via the internet from St Andrews, if you feel like catching that. read more
