When you pay to go in, you walk through s brief little history lesson as well so you have some idea of what you're looking at. A gorgeous castle site on the coast. It's amazing soil erosion hasnt wiped this out in the hundreds of years. The edges of the castle still stand but most of the walls are collapsed from the battle destruction and wear and tear. There is still plenty to see and take in. They labeled what all the parts of the castle once were. You can even see the creepy dungeon prison. One of the cooler things is the tunnel. I couldn't do it because of general claustrophobia. But during a battle the enemy was tunneling under the castle. They started a counter tunnel to block them and they successfully did. So, you can walk through the original tunnel. Talk about being in the heart of history!

I recently came across MacDuff Castle whilst exploring the coastal area of FIFE. There is no clear…read morevisible sign post and I had to find the hidden path just beside the MacDuff Cemetery outside of East Wemyss in FIFE. I drove along the A955 until I saw the cemetery on my right when coming from Wemyss and parked my car on the road. There is no car park, except the one at the cemetery. Walking along a small path i entered an area which was overgrown by plants and trees. Maybe its the fact that the ruins lie just beside a graveyard or because it is very quiet or lonely or the tale about the "grey lady" who haunts this place that I felt a bit uncomfortable at first, but after walking down towards the coast and the "beach" I felt a certain relieve and noticed a couple. Was I glad to encounter civilization :-) There is not much left of the castle (one or two ruined towers to which access is denied), which was supposedly built by the Clan MacDuff in the 11th century around the time of King Macbeth of Scotland. According to records or just profound wishful thinking, this castle was once a vast powerful place and changed hands often enough during the centuries. After King Edward I of England resided there he ordered the castle to be destroyed and it was rebuild by the Livingstones and Wemyss families. The most interesting part of the castle are the caves beneath. Sadly, they are either gated (The Well Cave) or have collapsed over the years. These caves are part of the Wemyss Cave tour, which shows you caves with markings of old times past (prehistoric - Pictish, Viking or Christians). I think they found a bone like marking in the Well cave. I might be back for the Wemyss Cave tour to find out more about this area and exciting past!

We…read morefirst knew and saw Kelpies when our tour minibus was on the M9 driving back to Edinburgh from the West Highlands, and our driver pointed them out as we were passing by the small town of Falkirk. Andy Scott created the Kelpies, which are mythical equines that are said to have the strength of 10 horses. These sculptures are a tribute and hearken to Scotland's horse-powered past. You won't miss these horses. They're by the British Golf Museum and across from St. Andrews Links which is incidentally the birthplace of golf. It's going to be hard taking a pic of these horses without other people in your pics. There's simply way too many people around!

This post office is a valuble local resource for the many pensioners resident in that area. 4 stars would be 5 but the postoffice does not do car tax.

She has always collected her pension, paid bills and sent letters airmail from here and has frequently benefitted from the excellent advice and up-dates in postal services available. From artwork, model & actual ship pieces, sports trophies & even a cafe it was just amazing. Around every corner there was something to see. What I really liked was in some areas there were lounge pieces that you could take a seat on. On the 3rd floor which had much of the paintings is where I sat I know for about an hour. It was just that pretty. What I also liked was the way those working that day were being quite nice. I travel a bit & will be honest and say sometimes museum staff can be unwelcoming. At times I've even felt I was being followed like I was a child who didn't know NOT to touch the items. It was not the case here! As I was admiring the whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling, one even came to explain some pretty cool details of how it got there & even suggested a part of the museum many over look. Had a light snack in the cafe. Great service, tea was nice & hot. I can't wait to visit Dundee again so I can visit this gallery again. I could spend a whole day in there. Yelp on my friends!

I can probably only fairly comment on the childrens section of the library as I have not used other…read moresections in a long time. The layout of the central library is good - it always seems clean and spacious and they have done a lot of work on it over the years. The childrens library I feel it a lot better than Broughty Ferry Library and the baby rhyme time is better too - it is similar but at least its not quite so busy. They are very good with small children if they damage the books and on childrens cards there is no fines for late books either and each card can hold 10 books. The staff are nice and friendly and genuine.

Friends At Rest is a memorial site that allows you to make an online memorial for someone in your…read morefamily (or anybody really) who has passed away. I made a memorial to my Gran who I lost at the end of June. It was nice to see the memorial online and my parents were pleased to see it. I think its a really nice idea and I notice that they also do some work for help for heroes which is a good thing. I wasn't sure about the prices at first but it is possible to make a memorial for free. I added music to my memorial and my own background and a candle and it came in at under a tenner. Could probably do with being a bit cheaper though? Overall, a great website.
