The new church building was constructed in 1928. Fremont Ohio is a true delight for someone like myself that loves history, architecture and beauty!!! I was in total heaven. Definitely need to hk in for a free tour!!!

As I arrived in Fremont, I got extremely excited about all the steeples dotting the skyline. I normally like to get out and go inside, but it was 8am, cold, windy and raining. So today I decided to do a driving tour of Fremont, Ohio. I love old historic church and buildings...a true architecture passion and treat for my eyes!!! This lovely Gray Brick Church was built in 1843 and the Gothic Revival architecture with the distinctive square Bell Tower allows it to stand out in the crowd. The interior has a octagonal baptistry, Frescoes, Stain glass windows and massive chandeliers! This was the home church of President Rutherford B Hayes and his family. When back in the area I am going to have to get inside to see these gorgeous Frescoes and architecture treasures!

As we arrived into Fremont, I saw this gorgeous historic church, Saint Anne Catholic Church. I normally like to get out and go inside, but it was 8am, cold, windy and raining. So today I decided to do a driving tour of Fremont, Ohio. I love old historic church and buildings...a true architecture passion and treat for my eyes!!! The Catholic Church was first in area in 1844, originally built a little more west of current site. This gorgeous cathedral was constructed from 1888 to 1891. Original parishioners were German and Irish, official language was Irish Gaelic. Inside ceiling portrays 8 murals of the Beatitudes. When in the area I will definitely try to gain entrance!!!

IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. The worship team sounded Great. The Preacher delivered a bible centered message, that was hopeful and inspiring. I felt as if the message was tailored to my life. We were able to gain access to tour the church thanks to the kind folks in the Parrish offices. While there, we saw the Parrish was busy helping the poor by giving out alms to the needy. The church itself is magnificent. I loved the fact they have areas each for firefighters and police in the church. There are dozens of patches from the police and fire departments of cities throughout the world. It was great to be able to tour the church and enjoy its beauty!

I wanted to go in do bad to see the various statues and the life-size figure of King David playing harp. One Toledo's most important religious structure. Started in 1862 by Father Edward Hannin. Its Gothic Architecture Style stands high above the city skyline. Like many churches the doors were locked and I was unable to gain entrance. When I am back in the area, I am definitely hoping inside.
