I love bourbon and bourbon distillery's so this was a must have stop. The distillery is a very small craft operation, but the whole vibe revolves around the building, which used to be an ice company before home refrigerators and freezers became normal. They have a free self guided option with free samples or a few paid guided options also , even a bottle your own bottle to take home option. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, they make their own bourbon, gin, rum and vodka on sight which all of their products can be bought at the gift shop at the end of the tour. They do everything at that location even hand bottling all their products. The only thing that isn't done at that location is their barrel aging.
Loved our experience here and for 5 bucks a person it's a great way to sample their products and head to the gift shop. No one's pushing you to buy anything which I like. It's a no pressure scenario. They get our money and we get to try 4 drinks . It's their bourbon, rum, gin and vodka with mixers . The people serving us were very nice and the place was clean and tidy and it was fun looking at all of the barrels. It is a must do when you are in St Augustine . Their spirits are smooth and tasty
The Distillery is decorated for Christmas and I'm loving every bit of it. The holiday spirits are high in more than one way with their self guided free tasting. Annabelle was phenomenal as one of the bartenders for gin and rum, Mike was also very knowledgeable. We tried the mule mix with vodka, the gin with the citrus mix, and I tried the bourbon mix with the straight bourbon and the port rum. I highly recommend this distillery! 10/10
Wow wow wow the easiest 5 stars! We came here on a recommendation from a friend, and now I'm recommending it to everyone who comes to St. Augustine! We did the free self-guided tour, which includes 4 cocktail samples (not a whole drink, just a sample). Every single one was delicious and smooth, and served fresh by a bartender in different areas throughout the tour. There were signs explaining the different parts of the distilling process, an all of the staff were knowledgeable and helpful, especially the girl in the last room.
I bought a ticket for the Spirit of Florida Bourbon Experience. I checked in at the counter quite early, and was given a wristband for the tour. We were invited to visit the gift shop or wait in the lobby before the tour started. We were given free samples of a Florida mule drink while we waited as well. When the tour started, we were sent to a classroom like are where we were lectured about the spirits and given 4 different samples to try. Then we visited the distillery area and learned how their process worked. Our guide, Nelson, was very informative and entertaining, and the spirits were very strong. I wished we were given the spirits samples at the end as we we were quite tipsy and lost track of what our guide was discussing, but I guess better early then late so you can sober up and drive safely back home. The gift shop was nice and had lots of souvenirs to buy, and there was even a restaurant too. I didn't buy any gifts or eat in the restaurant, but maybe next time. Parking was free at their lot, but it can get difficult to find one during the busy hours. For 40 dollars after taxes and fees, the guided tour was nice and informative. And the samples are pretty strong. It was a fun and enjoyable experience, and will definitely be back for another experience.
Great Free tasting tour - 3 mixed tasting then straight liquors at the end on their store. They have you walking around to a couple of stations. You get your ID checked, get a wristband and fill out info on an iPad. Walking in to the first area, it seemed small but then it opens up to their distillery area and the store which was much bigger Everyone was pretty friendly and knowledgeable. They gave you a little story or info on the liquors and mixes. The vodka was surprisingly good for being made with the usual Florida cane. Reminded me more of a rum since it's made with sugar canes that look similar to it. It was pretty smooth and had to try a couple straight shots to make sure it was actually that good. No astringent aftertaste at all. The higher proofed and "overproofed" named rums were actually nicely made as well. Good finish with that burn, it would definitely be good in mixed cocktails. Especially with either Tiki mixer which was compared to a painkiller
The distillery was beautiful and nice but the lady that checked this out was rude as can be FYI there are no prices on the whiskey on the shelves for the higher in whiskeys. We thought we were paying $80 and when we went to bring up two bottles it was $408 and she copped an attitude and we said oh no we don't want those .
Upon arrival, the distillery looks small but once you get inside, it's rather large and really cool because it wraps around into a restaurant located right next-door. We came for the tasting, we left with several bottles. For me? I call that success. Everyone was so genuine, extremely knowledgeable and their to make you have a good time. We tried several different spirits and even paid for the cool 10 year aged bourbon. The only complaint was that it was extremely crowded and there were constant waves of people so I would recommend if you don't like crowds to do the $35 private
I had a great time visiting this distillery. It was engaging, the employees were all super friendly & who can say no to a self guided tour with free samples?! From the moment you walk in there's someone to greet you & explain what they have to offer. There's a variety of drinks to sample & they tell you how to make the cocktails if you want to do it at home. The distillery is on the smaller side but you can really see how much character is packed within their walls. You're surrounded by the barrels & stills that they use to craft their delicious bourbons in while the smell of their mash fills your nostrils. It's heavenly. I also did the "perfect pair tasting experience" which only costs $24. During this, you're given 3 samples of their bourbon along with 3 specialty truffles from a local chocolatier. The idea behind this experience is learning how to profile the bourbons based off its many different flavor notes. The guide gives a history of the drinks, as well as the distillery & helps you navigate the fun task of sampling flavorful bourbons. I strongly recommend giving this tour a go if you want to enjoy your visit even more than what they offer for free! They even credit you part of your tour fee back as a gift card to use in their shop after. Coming here is a great time if you're looking for something to do a little off the beaten path of downtown. You can definitely make a good time out of your visit here if you play your cards right. There's multiple guided experiences also, one of which you can bottle your own bourbon during. If the free route is more your pace then you'll still be plenty satisfied with your visit. I can't wait to come back when I'm in the area.
The St. Augustine Distillery The Spirit of Florida Bourbon Experience was very informative, engaging and enjoyable! Patrick our instructor (Bourbon steward) guided us throughout the tour, which started in a classroom setting, with the introduction to bourbon, then through the Distillery (on a very warm and humid afternoon) to learn about how the Bourbon was made and as such ended at the gift shop, throughout which we enjoyed several tastings.

I simply love it when an historical building is brought back to life and put to good use. Originally the building housed St. Augustine's first power Plant and ice complex. It was one of the first to make a block of ice! Today the building serves to make bourbon and other spirits using locally grown crops & citrus. Visiting here is truly an historical journey and has something to offer for everyone. There are free tours of the distillery...and yes, free samples too! The gift shop on site offers all sorts of items in addition to the liquors and you can shop online for non-alcoholic items. If you have time, check out the Ice Plant restaurant (https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-ice-plant-st-augustine?osq=ice+plant). The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a private parking lot with plenty of parking. Plus, the tourist trains/shuttles stop here for your convenience. The prices are...well...high! Due to the pricing, I really want to give them a 4-star rating. But reality is...they are unique, but it does seem a bit much (to me anyway). Note: They make the best hand sanitizer. However, there is a limit to one per adult. They will not sell it to a teen, nor child. If you are in need of this then you may be better off buying it on line. - If you buy a bottle of booze...Vodka for example...then a bottle of hand sanitizer is included. Woot! read more

We spent part of an afternoon at the distillery on a recent trip to St Augustine. We love the history of the Ice Plant and the way they have incorporated it into the design and the self-guided tour. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot going on in the distillery the day we were there. But we enjoyed seeing the facility and the tasting stations along the well. Like all good tours, it ends in a HUGE gift shop. We're both Gin drinkers and bought a bottle of the New World Gin as we liked the hints of Citrus. We really like the fact that the distillery is locally owned and that they give back to the community and that beyond preserving a historic building they have great sustainable practices. Our only regret was that we didn't build enough time into our schedule to have lunch in their restaurant. read more

Took a trip here this weekend and decided to stop in for a tour. We signed up for the tasting paid and it was great! The guide we had was so good. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend stopping in. read more

I loved every minute of this adapted tour. Due to COVID-19 protocols and caution that the distillery and staff used to care for their patrons, the format of the tour was a little different than normal. Instead of the staff being able to explain the distilling process and the things that go into making their delicious alcohols and mixers, guests were allowed to walk through the distillery and read the information for themselves, while being able to observe the ingredients and tools of the trade. Because of this trade off, the tours are free during this period, as if you needed more incentive to go. However, patrons were still able to sample the spirits and mixers through the different rooms of the distillery. In the final room, you were allowed to taste any of the drinks, either mixed or straight. My personal favorite was the unbelievably smooth and flavorful Saint Bourbon and the deep, complex Port Finished Bourbon. But everything I tasted was spectacular. I love that the spirits and mixers are made using local ingredients. It's unusual that a distillery produces so many spirits (gin, rum, whiskey, vodka) instead of just focusing on one, but each of their offerings provides something different and unique. This is only complemented by the variety of mixers (Old Fashioned mix, Tonic,. Grapefruit Hibiscus, Tropical Tiki, Florida Mule) which they create as well. I'm definitely looking forward to visiting again when the pandemic is over, so I can get the full story of this amazing and historical company. read more

Wow I do not know how I missed reviewing this place! I have been coming here since 2015 and visit almost every time I am in St. Augustine. There is so much to do here so you can easily spend 3 hours here. The distillery provides multiple tours throughout the day which last about an hour. The place is actually very small but the tour is detailed and intimate. At the end of the tour, you will sample some cocktails made with their booze. And of course the tour ends in the store. The distillery uses ingredients from local farmers and provide the information in a video at the beginning of the tours. When I first started to visit here, the distillery only made Gin and Vodka. Now they make rum and a slew of varieties of bourbons. I love Gin and Bombay was my go to before St. Augustine Distillery. I have a stock of at least 4 bottles of their Gin at all times. The Gin has so much flavor and when mixed with quality ingredients, the flavor is intensified. I use their tonic as well, which compliments their Gin really well. The store sells everything you can imagine! Booze, mixers, apparel, drink ware, bar accessories, decor, books, etc. My 1 less star is due to the amount of money they charge. Most of the items are severely overpriced and you even have to pay for a postcard that provides their interpretation of a cocktail. read more

I recommend booking a tour here. Best part, it's FREE. Who doesn't like free? We got dropped off by the red trolley. The building is historic; used to be an ice plant back in the day. It's situated near the water; they'll go over the details in the tour. The tours run every 30 minutes. Last tour runs at 5pm. The building was pretty big, there's a waiting area before the tour starts. Our group had about 30-40 people at around 4pm; it was a good turn out and a popular destination. They brought us in the back to look at all the canisters for brewing their bourbon, vodka, gin, and rum. Then a small bar, they made mini mixed drinks for us to try out. Finally, to the gift shop where there's another bar giving us shots. The bartenders were fantastic. The tour guides were informative and the place was so cool. If you're into drinking, I highly recommend checking this place out. Upstairs is the "Ice Plant" restaurant if you're hungry afterwards. read more

We enjoyed the Whiskey Pairing class with Nick at the St. Augustine Distiller. He engaged our group in conversation and did a wonderful job explaining the whiskeys we tried and about the tastes based on our own individual pallet. We also saw where fermentation and distillation happens and discussed the process. Afterwards we received a lovely gift and enjoyed additional tastings and shopping in their store! Tour starts with a "Florida mule" which was mucho tasty. Of course, cups were small but more to come on that. One of the best mules I've ever had. Made with ginger not ginger beer. Take note. Then saw some distillery stuff yada yada. Next was an awesome gin and tonic. They claim it's made with organics. Serious good. Next was a rum drink that I didn't love as much as the others but still good. Finally was the bourbon and whew I could have breathed fire. Saving the best for last...you can get samples of anything in the gift shop including the $200/bottle saint bourbon. Got enough samples to get a bit sauced then went for a pizza pie. Lots of fun. read more

One of the coolest places to visit for adults in St. Augustine. Hits just right, and best before dinner. The tour is free and you get to taste all of their stuff, as well as buy everything you need for your cocktail nights. We will definitely be back! Cheers! read more

They have free "tours" where you get to walk around and try 4 drinks- a Florida mule, gin and tonic, a spritzer, and an old fashioned. They use and sell their very own bottles of mix so you can easily replicate the drink at home. While I didn't try it, they sell bourbon chocolates, coffee, sauce and syrup. They also sell glasses and mule mugs, along with all the items they create on property. Cool place to visit! read more
Always a favorite destination in St Augustine. Crystal and I are big bourbon fans. After taking our first tour years ago and sampling their Old Fashioned, we were hooked! All of the production is done on site with locally grown Florida corn, wheat, and more. All wastewater is recycled so nothing is dumped into the sewers. Spent grain from the fermentation process is given to local farmers for cattle feed. We visit here everytime we visit the Ancient City and rarely leave empty handed! The gift shop is well stocked with booze, bar accessories, mixes, snacks, tshirts, and hats. read more

St. Augustine Distillery is a fantastic location to visit if you're in the area. They have a quick self guided tour with QR codes to display videos on your mobile devices as you walk the spaces. Through the self guided tour you'll sample cocktail mixes with their signature Gin, Vodka, and Bourbon. Our favorite drink was the "Saint" bourbon, filled in tons of sweet caramel and a long finish without the burn - yum! I can't emphasize how cool this spot is, but what brings this place to life is the kind and well versed staff, specifically Todd. Be ready to ask questions and enjoy some good drinks. Come visit the distillery in the old city and meet the crew for yourself! read more

Fun and informative!! I'm not really an alcohol fan but wanted give my husband an unique experience. We ended up with a private tour with samplings of 4 of their bourbons my husband was hooked!!! Very informative host while answering all of dumb questions as well as sharing a chuckle about natural flavorings being derived from beaver anal glands (I brought it up) !!! Toured the distillery and went home with their finest spirits. It was a unique and educational experience. read more
Let me say, parking is the worst thing you will experience on this tour. You'll end up touring all of St. Augustine for a parking spot before finding one here so be ready to be quick if you find a spot... Upon entering, you are greeted by a friendly face who asks if you're interested in the tour and then asked tk show your ID to prove you're of legal drinking age. The tours run continuous every so often so if you miss out you will get the next one coming up! The tour itself is very informative and the tour giver is very knowledgeable about the history of the building and how the place goes about creating their spirits and other drinks they produce and sell. After a brief tour, your are led into the first to lasting room. I can't remember what three samples of mixed drinks I had, but let me say all three were to die for! Afterwards, you are led to their gift shop where you can try a few more samples. They sell many different items here such as shirt, their drinks (obviously) and even BBQ sauces and drink items. read more
This is a must visit spot while in St Augustine. It only takes 30 minutes or so to walk through for the tour and then there is a shop at the end. The Ice Plant Bar & restaurant is located upstairs. The tour is free and you get 4 cocktail samples as you walk through as well as the option to try their liquor straight at the end. It was a fun activity and is also near the winery and chocolate factory so you can spend a few hours doing all 3 at the same time. There are no reservations for the tour so you can just walk in anytime and be able to start on a self guided tour right away. read more
What fun tour!! We seriously laughed and enjoyer ourselves throughout. We arrived about ten minutes before a tour start - it's free! Inside the tour waiting area they have tons of information, pictures and antique equipment. They tell you the history of the building and the area. Our tour guide was hilarious and super informative. You could tell she had a real passion for the place. There were several free samples along the way. The mule was my personal fave. Towards the end you arrive at the gift shop / bar area. Here they do a sample of an old fashioned. They have a premix of it which I've never seen! The gift shop has tons to look at. All the proceeds go back to this local business and it's neighborhood. Overall: A++ What a fun free experience!! Support local and grab a bottle for home!! read more
This place was absolutely amazing. I had actually heard about it, through Total wine in Gainesville where one of their employees raved so passionately about it, that I made up my mind to take a special trip to see it. Boy was I not disappointed! They give several free tours daily and our tour guide, Mary, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. There was so much history to not only how the distillery began, but also how about the building and the ice plant. The tour itseld is quite short--probably only 20 minutes, then you go to the tasting rooms where in one you try three drinks--vodka based, rum based, and then gin based--then you move on to the next tasting room to sample the bourbons. You must try the port bourbon. My goodnes is it strong but I see how it can garner the rather steep price of 80 bucks. I loved the fact that this distillery is 0 waste. The little tasting cups are even made out of corn instead of plastic. So neat. This place is a definite must visit of st. Augustine. read more

Such a good tasting! Tried both the one at the Ice Plant and St. George St. I preferred St. George, they had just the options to taste the liquor, while the Ice Plant had tastes of mixed drinks. The caramel liquor was AMAZING! Really knowledgeable staff, and dog friendly! read more
We really enjoyed the free tour and tastings. Located in historic building that was originally an ice house. They distill vodka, gun, run, and Bourbon. Also make great mixes to go with each. Tour is self guided. Drink samples served along the way. Highly recommend this excursion. read more
