I am a long time member of this parish. I also have experience in many Catholic parishes. This one, under the leadership of Msgr. Greg Malovetz, is the most engaging and involved parish I have seen. The preaching is at the highest level. The laity are involved in all aspects of the parish, which continues a variety of programs to develop the adult spirituality of all. Its social outreach to local charities is consistent and involving. With all this the congregation is warm and welcoming. A person could become involved from the beginning. In summary, this parish embodies the values developed by the Second Vatican Council, which closed in 1965. read more

This Parish is warm and welcoming. The other people who posted here were looking for a stodgy, old fashioned church. This is a vibrant community. The rituals of the sacraments are done with grace, and are more moving than I've seen in any other parish. This is a place of living Catholic faith. read more

I can second what David B. wrote below. I'm a devout Catholic who has attended Mass in different parts of the country, as well overseas and at numerous parishes in the Northeast. This parish is as bad as any I've ever attended; in fact, I can't remember one as lacking. When I didn't know as much about it, many years ago, I actually went to confession there, and I don't remember there even being a confessional (Church rules state that behind-the-screen confession MUST be an option). One of the issues is that Monsignor Malovetz is a modernist, to say the least. He's not the real McCoy. In fact, with the way Mass is conducted at the parish and with Malovetz's apparent conception of the faith, I'd say the place borders on being schismatic. So if you're looking for a real Catholic experience, this parish isn't it. You're better off going to St. Paul in Princeton. It's only 12 minutes -- but a world of catholicity -- away. read more

I began attending St. Charles as a non-Catholic- actually, as a birthright Quaker (you could call it the other end of the Christian institutional religious spectrum). But I had never really attended Quaker meetings and I was at a loss during a difficult time. On Easter Sunday of 2007 I showed up at St. Charles because it was nearby and is a beautiful building. Immediately struck by the sensitive, intelligent homilies of Monsignor Gregory Malovetz, who draws out the profound significance of Scripture and its relation to our ordinary lives, I went through the RCIA process so that I could join in Communion. I am a Believer. I believe in Jesus Christ and am blessed to feel His Love and Presence. Monsignor Malovetz and St. Charles have helped to deepen my faith. Do you feel that God is in Heaven looking down at us? Come to St. Charles and you will feel comforted. Do you feel more (or as well) that God is an indefinable Mystery Who lives within and all around us? Come to St. Charles and you will be offered inspiration, encouragement and tools to live a life deeper, higher, and more faith-filled. Oh, by the way, the music is great (wonderful pipe organ) and there are lots of programs to get involved in if you can and wish (and there is no shaming if you don't).
