Although I feel that person really got it wrong, much has changed since then - we have a new rabbi, new programming, and lots of enthusiastic new members, adding to our already wonderful community. There is so much going on at Kerem Shalom, for adults and for families with young kids, and the atmosphere is welcoming and warm. and yes, it is very down to earth and there is still a lot of beautiful music.

Kelly Weisman Asproooth-Jackson is young, intellectually probing, socially minded, and deeply caring. He is also a wonderful writer and speaker; your favorite college professor times two. The music is very good with a fine choir and a highly accomplished organist and choir director, Robert Littlefield. Children are encouraged to participate and often included in the musical programming. The RE Director, Deb Sweet, has all the kids come down front each week for an interactive story before heading off to Sunday school. The services are very inclusive. The youth programs are excellent. There are many ways to actively serve the community such as the Tuesday night suppers for the hungry and Family Promise for those in need of temporary housing while looking for work. The congregations is welcoming and there are lots of children--always a sign of a healthy congregation. The spiritual focus is open-minded and questioning rather than dogmatic: Unitarianism at its finest. Lots of "formers": Catholics, Jews, Congregationalists--lots of people seem to find a home here. Standing on the Side of Love is not just a slogan here; it's a way of life. All in all a great place to become a member of a community.

WCUMC is a great church to bring up a family. The children start in church and they have a special…read morechildren's message before going to Sunday School where they have activities that help make them better little people. Then there's Rev Geisa's sermons that come from a different perspective that make us better adult people. She really makes you think and her enthusiasm is contagious. After church, if you want to get to know people there is some refreshments downstairs. Everyone is so friendly. There are also many ways that you can serve others in the community through St Paul's Meal, the Food Pantry, UMARMY, and JFON. There's a lot of love coming from this church. The newer MESSY church program,which is open to everyone, is on some Friday nights and is perfect after a long work week since dinner is served before a relaxed creative get together with music and a craft. Everyone has a smile when they leave. Oh, I almost forgot the amazing music program with the Karen's leadership definitely gives WCUMC 5 stars.
