He struggled for years to find a subject he really enjoyed besides Theater which he took 2 different classes his final 3 years. Then, his senior year he took Forensic Science and Sign Language. He loved them both and had great teachers. He now wants to study forensic science. My youngest was a freshman last year and got to take Chinese, Intro to Engineering, and Biomedical Science. He loved every teacher and rarely had homework due to the flex period they have built into the schedule. They both ran/run cross country and track as well. The track coaches are nice and encouraging and the cross country coach cares about the kids. Both programs are very flexible with kids and their academics. Our experience at WWHS has wonderful! The teachers and staff all care immensely about the students and there is a huge of variety of classes for students to explore. My kids aren't top in their class but they make mostly A's and some B's. For me, I know they will be well prepared for college and have a good foundation of what they want to pursue for a career. Lastly, WWHS is diverse and my kids have been able to find friends easily. My youngest is very shy and quiet, but he was able to find a group of kids to hang with for lunch. There's great variety not just with classes but with the students as well. We didn't experience any bullying or judgment from kids.

And there have been some students that have caused some problems in classes. Mr. Aldama was pretty chill. I have to say that some of the best teachers were Mr.G, Mrs. Adams, Ms. Margullies, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Johnston, and Mrs. Morey. I will never forget y'all! As I go on to high school and think back I hope that the new 6th graders have as awesome as experience in middle school as I had.

Last summer I decided…read moreto start the Couch to 5k app (C25k) and it got me from sitting on the couch binge watching tv on the weekends to running 3 days a week for 9 weeks. Then I gave myself a break and took on the C210k app for another 5 weeks. This track was a great place for me to get into running in a safe neighborhood. I discovered this place because I was in a boot camp a couple summers ago that worked out in the parking lot. I would even skip the days we had to run a mile so it's a wonder I've come so far to run 60 minutes straight. I've ran here as late as 9pm on a Saturday and felt safe. Granted I was carrying mace because a girl can never be too prepared. lol but seriously it's a great track and a lot of people come here to walk, spend time with their families and exercise. I still binge watch tv on the weekends, just after I finish a 3 mile or so run.

What I couldn't have predicted then was how much joy this place would bring to my family and me. Very early on, I knew in my heart that I wanted my own children to experience that same joy, love, and purpose. One of the most beautiful things about Hill Country is how the school truly lives out its mission: to know your child, love your child, and prepare your child. The teachers go above and beyond in caring for my child not just academically, but spiritually and emotionally. Every day, I see the intentional ways they invest in him, and it's deeply moving as both a parent and an educator. The spiritual growth I've witnessed in my son has been incredible. He's only in Pre-K, but already he's learning to pray, engaging with God's Word, and building a foundation that will last a lifetime. Hearing him pray every night before bed, without prompting, is one of the greatest blessings I could ever ask for as a mom. What makes Hill Country especially impactful is how every subject is taught through a Biblical worldview. It's not just about teaching math or reading; it's about teaching truth, character, and purpose. Our children are learning to love Jesus through every lesson and every experience. This matters so much to our family because we want our children to grow in their relationship with Christ, not just know about Him. Hill Country creates endless opportunities for families to be involved and serve together. It's a place where students and families are encouraged to be the hands and feet of Jesus in every area of life. That kind of culture is rare. After I had specifically told her I would speak with both the teacher and my son's pediatrician, she removed my son from class and told him directly that he needed to see a doctor for his behavior. When I picked him up, he was crying and asking, "What's wrong with me, Mom?" No child should be put in that position, and that conversation should never have been had with him -- that was my responsibility as his parent. This was not an isolated incident. I had emails to teachers go unanswered, and overall the partnership we expected from a private school simply was not there. Since leaving, I've learned that other families have had similar experiences, where the principal seemed to push an ADHD diagnosis despite disagreement from teachers and parents. In our case, both my son's third- and fourth-grade teachers at HCCS and his pediatrician did not believe he had ADHD. When my son transferred mid-year into public school, the difference was night and day. His new teacher said he was incredibly bright, just likely bored, and he immediately began thriving. He made straight A's, came home happy, and was excited to return to school each day. The contrast showed me that the problem was not with my son but with the way he was being handled at HCCS. We expected much better from a private institution, but sadly, our experience was one of disappointment, lack of communication, and a principal who placed her opinion above parents, teachers, and even doctors.

I am extremely disappointed with how this school has treated my son. In the short amount of time he…read morehas been here, a former staff member harassed him--following him to the restroom, making comments about his clothing, asking other students personal questions about him, and constantly picking on him. We reported these concerns and had a meeting about it, but all we were told was that she was no longer at the school. While things slightly improved afterward, nothing was done to address the harm that had already occurred. To make matters worse, another staff member not only went around asking another student for my son's phone number, but she actually called him after school to ask about drama happening at the school--nothing school-related, and nothing appropriate for an adult to discuss with a student. This behavior was completely unprofessional and unacceptable, yet the school chose to ignore it. Despite ignoring repeated misconduct by their own employees, the school immediately moved to expel my son the moment he was involved in one fight--while defending himself. Given everything he has endured, this feels like retaliation. The difference in accountability between a child and adult staff members is alarming. There are also major communication issues at this school. Many teachers struggle with a language barrier that leaves students confused about instructions and assignments, and little effort is made to fix it. This is especially harmful for students with 504 plans, who rely on clarity and support--not additional obstacles. Overall, sending our child to this school has been one of the worst decisions we could have made. Even in such a short time, it has become clear that this school is not here to support or protect its students. This experience has been unfair, discouraging, and completely unacceptable. Students and families deserve far better.
