The 24/7 coffee and tea was a perfect touch during the cold evenings and mornings! My only hiccup...with it being an old house my sinuses were impacted severely. It was extremely dusty in the home. I would hope that the cleaning companies would do a thorough cleaning after each party and clean the ducts. Lastly, the owner brought her dog in on the last day. I didn't mind as Im a dog lover but one of the guests was allergic and she was impacted severely as well. However, would love to come back it was a beautiful experience!

Year after year I return to Memorial House for differing events. Sometimes church related;…read moresometimes just for a few days at the beach; this visit for a 3 day yoga retreat. Nestled in the cozy neighborhood just 3 blocks from the beach, quiet, shaded, safe, located on a small lake with plenty of birds. The house originally belonged to Felix Dupont as his summer home. It was given to the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware (the DuPonts were Episcopalians in America; originally they were French Huguenots). It was transformed into a retreat/vacation/multipurpose facility more recently. It is beautifully maintained and decorated. All rooms have private baths. Meals are provided by an excellent chef. There's a kitchen for guests to do their own thing, if desired. Free fruit, coffee, tea, etc at all times. Fireplace, fire pit outdoors, beautiful porch/patio, outdoor shower (so exhilarating!), free parking. Lovely common rooms throughout accommodate chatty types and introverts. There's really everything here you could possibly need or want. Of course, in addition to the beautiful beach, there are the shopping outlets, which are a good source for rainy days. There's also the magnificent Prime Hook, a state park that's wonderful for bird watching. And another great park is Cape Henlopen. You can't go wrong staying here, either privately or with a group. Highly recommend.

It traces the town's timeline from its 1873 establishment and its growth into the 1890's as an East coast resort destination. The inscription reads: "On January 27, 1873, the "Rehoboth Beach Camp Meeting Association of the Methodist Episcopal Church" was incorporated by the Delaware legislature for the purpose of establishing "a permanent camp meeting ground and Christian sea-side resort." With the coming of the railroad in 1878, the growth of the community was accelerated. On March 19, 1891, an act was passed incorporating the municipality as Cape Henlopen City. The name was formally changed to Rehoboth in 1893. Since its founding the City of Rehoboth Beach has continued to be one of the most popular resorts on the Atlantic coast, attracting thousands of visitors each year."

I thought Rehoboth was adorable. I enjoyed parking and walking the main shopping street for a few…read morehours with my husband and having snacks and lunch. It was freezing and windy and raining the entire weekend we were in town so we didn't have stellar weather to enjoy the beach and all the amenities of the city but the people were friendly and parking was easy enough so we enjoyed ourselves and plan to come back again in the fall if we're able.
