Let the buyer beware!…read more Go here for produce, not landscaping services. Trees they provided and planted died in less than 2 weeks after following their watering guidelines. Contacted owner multiple times, sent pictures of trees and their leaves which were brown and brittle. They initially said my neighbor poured bleach on them (not true, the other plantings I purchased from them and they planted in the exact same area, didn't die). Then they said I overwatered, which, also not true, leaves would have been yellow, not brown and brittle. All the while, the owner assured me and told me not to worry, they'll bloom come spring and they'll be beautiful. Now spring comes, 9 months later and nothing blooms. They said they offer a 3 month warranty, this is over 9 months. Reminded them that I told them that there were issues with these trees within the first two weeks of planting and was told all along, it's all good, not to worry. Their solution... come buy more trees and we'll split the cost. Filed a complaint with the BBB and sent a demand letter for my money back or I will file a small claims court action. A few telephone calls back and forth from them asking me to come and buy new trees, they'll split the cost with me, I, declined and ultimately, was hand delivered a check for the amount I requested in my demand letter.

There's also a section of local artists selling things like tshirts, knickknacks, art pieces like paintings and collages. Regardless if I buy anything, I just love walking around the market looking at all the fresh, colorful produce, thinking of what delicious dishes could be made from the plethora of ingredients. Many top restaurants in the city book directly with vendors here, which says something about the quality of the products. Still open Mon, Wed, Fri & Sat. Usually the most vendors on Saturday I think. From 8am to 6pm, though on certain days depending on weather some vendors might start taking down their stands earlier. For more info: https://www.grownyc.org/greenmarket/manhattan-union-square-sa

I was walking around when i saw they were selling baked goods. The prices were great! I got 2 apple cider cinnamon sugar donuts for $1 and an apple crumble muffin for$2.50. The prices were great and the baked goods were even better!! They had other items as well as an apple cider drink. The staff were nice and explained their products. There was a small crowd for this small farmer's market but it is worth going to visit and buy fresh items.

I don't believe I haven't reviewed this amazing greenmarket, yet!…read more I am so grateful to live a few blocks from this weekly/bi-weekly market! It's open year round on Wednesdays and most of the year on Sundays (the last weekend this year was December 19th and they'll pick back up in the spring.) Wednesdays is generally the better day and I highly recommend the bakery for excellent baguettes and Stony Mountain ranch for killer bacon, sausage, fresh eggs, the best bone-in chicken breast I've ever had, and truly the cutest proprietor ever. (Off topic, but holy moly is he cute!) They also carry a wide range of other meats and I'm definitely going to grab one of their steaks or pork chops, soon! In the spring and fall, they have a great salad/lettuce vendor (usually on sale for 3 clamshells for $10), a mushroom vendor, and more vegetable/fruit vendors - including one who carries beautiful and reasonably priced flowers. There's also a great seafood vendor with the best scallops I've ever had, but they seem to appear more infrequently. I still do a big shopping at Grand Army once or twice a month to pick up flowers, seafood, and fruits and veggies during the cold months (when this market is pretty barren) but this little guy will always be my number 1.

Every year the market gets better and better, and since the start of this seasons markets in May, it feels like the whole city gets here early and makes a Sunday at of it as well. Some can't miss vendors: -Between Two Slices. They make incredible and unique sandwiches that you just need to try. Get the chicken salad, it's my favorite. They even make homemade english muffins. They sell out early, like within the first 2 hours usually, so get there when the market opens closer to 10 if you can! -The newest plant vendor that sets up near the fountain. I got all of my herb and veggie plants from them this year and they are thriving. All incredibly reasonably priced as well. -The mini bagels! Cute, delicious, just as expensive as a regular sized bagel. Doesn't make sense but I am going to get them again next week. -The iced coffee stand also by the fountain! It's become a ritual to get a coffee before we start circling. -The bakery right at the park entrance (on Palisade Ave, across from Busy Bee). You can't miss the long line, but it will move fast. They have incredible sourdough bread and pastries. It's a great market with something for everyone and every need. Come with a list otherwise you might just get a little something from everyone.

This is probably the best farmers market I've been to in Jersey. The first reason is atmosphere. The park is recently renovated and the layout and pathways are perfect to setup stalls. The folks shopping here seem to be nice, neighborly people supporting local farms, buying break, and enjoying their Sunday. They have a community garden that hosts kids activities, plus a large park and splash pad. Across the street is an awesome coffee shop (my favorite in the neighborhood) Mod Cup, and you'll find Bread & Salt one block away. Secondly, there's a great variety in vendors. Flower stalls, a very popular matcha stall (visit her pop up at The Alps instead), farms, dog treats, bagels, pickles. fresh pasta, bakeries with 5 different kinds of sourdough... Good stuff. If you're in the vicinity, I highly recommend spending a couple hours here on Sunday. Worth the trip!

Their produce is fresh albeit pricey but farm to table and pesticide free is always the draw at these greenmarkets. Oh, how times have changed since 2011. Actually, they haven't changed that much,* but they've…read morechanged enough that I couldn't let you go on without an update. (Because I care about you, dear reader.) This farmer's market is still a pretty good one. Unfortunately, we've lost Grazin' Angus (although, I'm told I should eat less red meat) and Divine Pickles (I miss those wasabi pickles), but there's still plenty of produce for you. All the tomatoes, greens, beans, nuts, mushrooms, cheese, eggs, flowers and other plants you'd ever want are here for the buying. You can also still grab: Tasty turkey sausage/burgers (and other items) from DiPaolo's. Crusty ciabatta (and other items) from Bread Alone. Whole chickens, primed for roasting. Duck bacon and/or rillettes. Burpless cucumbers. Overall, I've been happy with just about every purchase I've made here over the past few years. There was that one time that I bought an heirloom tomato that got crushed in the bag under other, heavier stuff, and leaked juice all over everything...I was sad about that. Then my cat decided to attack the other, $3 tomato as it sat in our fruit bowl. That was also disappointing, but he's a known asshole and we should've expected it. Anyway, what hasn't changed in the past half decade or so is that I think you should come here and buy delicious items from the vendors. Because the more you support the market, the more awesome vendors will show up. Therefore, by spending money here, you will really be increasing my quality of life. Sure, it'll be good for the whole neighborhood and the food industry in general, but let's be honest: I'm the one that really matters. ____________ *On the Carroll Gardens Greenmarket front. Lots of other things have changed, but this doesn't seem like the proper place to get into it.
