There was nothing wrong with public school, but we wanted more for our children as they grew into young adults. We first learned about All Saints when my husband coached their boy's basketball team. Both of us were from Christian and Catholic backgrounds and we found the moral and spiritual guidance intertwined with their sports program complementary to our parenting style. We decided to transfer our children from public to private schools simply due to the opportunities, rigor, and environment that private schools afford. Each family views and values education differently, and in our case- my father instilled in me that "education is something that no one can take away from you." Therefore, we value a holistic and realistic education that provides many opportunities. How children perform and function in school is the sum of familial values and school environment. All Saints Catholic School complemented our familial values based on the following: 1. Spiritual, religious, and moral compass: Opportunities to develop faith formation simultaneously with the curriculum. Opportunities for us as a family to discuss current world events in a particular context and offer positive coping skills. 2. Academic rigor: Low classroom counts, better teacher-to-parent relationships, opportunities for science camps and science fairs. 3. School/parent environment/ sports: The administration is dedicated to the learning and safety of the children. When public schools were still distance learning, this institution had protocols for early in-classroom teaching (a lifesaver for me as I was on the frontlines in the ICU). Social events that are both wholesome, fun, and spiritual- Fiesta, Crab Feed, Fun Run, school dances, etc. They have a well-established CYO program with dedicated and league/diocese-winning coaches. 4. Kids Klub: after-school caregiving for those who require extended care. 5. Robust choir/ music program with a dedicated choir/ music director. 6. Safety of the campus My child is nearing graduating from All Saints and will soon transition to high school. My eldest was offered a generous scholarship at a prestigious private high school in Oakland but instead chose to attend a distinguished private high school in Hayward. Both were blessings and opportunities that I believe would not have been available to us if we had not chosen All Saints Catholic School. Many of our fondest memories originate with activities and events sponsored by All Saints and the Oakland Diocese. Yes, drop-off can feel like chaos--after all, we all want to get to work, and everyone's rushing to drop off and leave. But that's normal for any school--it's just part of the daily routine. I've met the previous principal, the attendance clerk, and the assistant principal--who has a true love and passion for kids. It's clear they all care deeply and work hard for the students. My kids are always excited when they come home and love being at school. For communication, I personally prefer email--it's a reliable way to avoid small mix-ups like forgetting a note. Kids will be kids, and they'll get wild without their parents around, but that's part of growing up. Sometimes, I think the low-star reviews come from people who didn't get their way, rather than reflecting the true spirit of Stonebrae. I can't thank the staff enough for their dedication. Shortly after he started we noticed his manners improved (please and thank you), and in the Covid world they did a great job inspiring him to wash his hands properly. He's leaving TK knowing his ABCs, basic addition and subtraction, counting to 100, some sight words, and more. The kids do a wide variety of hands-on activities in TK, including crafts, science experiments, and even cooking. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are included in the tuition, which was a huge help. My kid is a really picky eater and they encouraged him to try everything, but if he didn't like it they would give him something else to eat (cereal, fruit, etc...) If you're enrolled full day the drop-off/pick-up window is very flexible for working parents - 6:30am-6:00pm. I typically didn't pick my son up until 5:45pm because he refused to leave if I came earlier. He was always having too much fun! I want to add that I just adore the kindergarten teacher, Miss Norita, and I am sad he won't be attending kindergarten at Elmhurst. We're leaving because my son was admitted to the Mandarin DLI program in Hayward and you have to start that in kindergarten. We plan to enroll our second child here once he is old enough.

Dr. Malanie Harris is incompetent and inefficient. She also took months to respond to my complaint…read morewhich is in regard to one of her esteemed colleagues, Ms. Estrada at Tennyson High School. I believe Ms Harris to be bias in her reports and in her investigations. She is unwelcoming and takes a very long time to respond if at all. She is unfamiliar with student policies and divisions. She also was unable to adhere to State and Federal regulations. As well as uninformed of the Department of Education laws and procedures. She claimed, that is another departments process. I attempted to also contact Ms. Wu however is busy "acting" again as - interim superintendent meanwhile Dr. Jason Reimans investigations has ceased. We filed our complaint to the OCR's and have received a response from the attorney to process their investigation. We will contact news media and bring attention to these concerns and violations from the District in regard to my students health, education, and violations of the Federal laws. I will be pulling our student by the end of this week. We are concerned for our safety, and well being since this has been going on for the last three years. The staff have neglected their responsibilities, and violated laws of a protected student who is designated under the Disabilites Act, section 504.

I didn't see any parking lot for visitors, so there was only street parking. There was barely any parking, so I had to park really far. I also had to make an appointment for fingerprinting, and they only offered a few time slots per day. The receptionist was nice and directed me to the correct floor. When I arrived to the HR department for fingerprinting, they took forever (~20 minutes) getting things set up (which I didn't know since they just took my information and left for a really long time, so I had no idea what was going on in the back). However, when the lady came back, everything was smooth from there. She was very polite and I was out of the building right afterwards.
