Instead of protecting students, certain staff members contributed to an environment where bullying and emotional abuse were ignored--or worse, encouraged. When issues were brought to the attention of teachers or administrators, they were often dismissed, minimized, or turned back on the student. Some staff spoke in demeaning, sarcastic, or intimidating ways, which made students feel unsafe and powerless. Rather than intervening, adults in authority sometimes sided with aggressors or treated students as if they were the problem for speaking up. The lack of accountability was extremely damaging. Policies against bullying seemed to exist only on paper, with little to no follow-through. Students were left feeling unheard, anxious, and afraid to attend school. A school should be a place of learning and growth, not fear. Until this institution takes real responsibility, provides proper training for staff, and genuinely listens to students, it fails to meet even the most basic standards of care and safety.

Academically she's so far advanced in comparison to other family and friends in similar grades. She has been able to read since kindergarten and her reading comprehension is arguably better than most 8/9/10 year olds. Shes already been introduced to nutritional science, animal and plant sciences. They have a garden each grade gets to utilize. She is learning cursive and how to properly prepare reports and write in paragraph form. She's learning g Spanish, and they do several performances a year. The class size is smaller and it's one of my most favorable things about Carden. I love that she's able to get some extra attention if needed. And that all of the teachers know who she is and are readily able to help in any way they can. The school very much feels close knit and family oriented.
