My mother volunteered for the church for 25 years, doing the ironing of the purificators etc. When my father took ill, the church NEVER checked in on my mother to see if she needed any help, where she had been, or just to say hello. I actually called from Florida to alert them to the situation and still nothing. BTW, she was still sending in the envelopes every week, much to our disgust. When my mother passed, we made arrangements with the church to have Father O'Hare (sp) at the cemetery for a blessing. My mother had outlived all of her friends, so it was a small service. We were surprised to see a man arrive in crumpled khakis and a washed out golf shirt show up. Where was the priest? The man gave a blessing although many of his accounts of my mother were incorrect. She was probably looking down in anger with the way this gentleman was dressed! We phoned the church to speak with Father O'Hare and were NOT impressed. He came off as a self-important buffoon. He was condescending, rude and dismissive. Much to our surprise, we heard the same account from others in the funeral business. It seems to be a pattern for this priest. My mother, after all of the years of her faithful service, got disrespected at her own funeral. That just says it all. This only solidifies my disgust with the Catholic church. As long as you are giving the cash...they are fine. Just don't expect any Christian comfort or help in your time of need, unless you are paying for it! We ended up decreasing our "donation" to the church for the service. We donated it to my mother's favorite charity, the Humane Society! If you are a true Christian following the beliefs of our savior, find a church that walks-the walk. IHM is a far cry from that! Disgusting!

If you're depresbed, then come to this spectacular Presbytarian church in the city named after my…read morefavourite football team in the world (and the best team, for that matter). Apparently it was the first ever church of its kind (otherwise it's false advertising). It deserves to be on Yelp because it's so resplendent and picturesque and really adds something to the lovely little suburb town west of the S-Y-R. This is a gorgeous new-looking church towering over the town centre of Liverpool. It bothers me ever so slightly that the religious structures in the Syracuse area are often shiny and new and perfect, while the museums (see my previous review) are sometimes crumbling to pieces. But that's life, and that's America. And in the churches of New York state and Rome, there is a feeling that you should just go home, and spend a lifetime finding out just where that is.

Chua very lucky that you get to read all these amazing reviews…read more When driving around Syracuse exploring the back streets north of downtown, I was very surprised to find this Buddhist temple and garden. It's really beautiful actually. For people who are into exploring various religions and cultures and especially for Buddhists, it should be somewhere that you stop. It's humble and unassuming and small and the garden could use a little manicure, but for some reason this place really spoke out to me, and I will try to look up some stats to find a statue can use to support my claims.
